Feng Wu’s question almost made the fairy jump.
Hearing the fairy’s reply, Feng Wu gradually returned to herself. “I didn’t fail the trial?”
The fairy patted her chest. “Look. I’m still here, aren’t I?”
Feng Wu stared at the fairy and saw that she hadn’t disappeared.
She was relieved, but not completely.
“Didn’t you say that I had to stay within ten steps of Jun Linyuan, otherwise I would fail the trial?”
The fairy lowered her head and wouldn’t look at Feng Wu.
Seeing this, Feng Wu knew that something was off, so she said loudly, “Tell me the truth now! Are you deliberately hiding something from me?!”
Her tone almost scared the fairy, but the fairy felt that it was her fault, and didn’t dare object.
She quickly looked up at Feng Wu, before lowering her head.
“I didn’t try to keep it from you, but… but I forgot to tell you that there’s an exception.”
“What exception?” asked Feng Wu
“The rules say that you have one chance…”
Feng Wu stared at her. “One chance to do what?”
The fairy said, “You have one chance to stay further than ten steps from him.”
Feng Wu asked, “Only once? Are you sure?”
The fairy said, “Yes. Only once. You can see it here.”
After that, the fairy showed Feng Wu the task log.
The first line said “Ninth Trial,” and the second line was the footnote, which was written in tiny font.
The fairy was right. Feng Wu only had one chance.
Feng Wu patted her chest and let out a breath of relief. She almost had a heart attack just then.
“Feng Wu? Feng Wu?!”
In reality, Feng Wu had fainted. Therefore, the fairy urged her, “You need to wake up now. Otherwise, your crown prince will be so worried.”
“What are you talking about? He’s not mine,” Feng Wu retorted.
The fairy gave her a shove. “Yours or not…”
Feng Wu was then pushed out by the fairy and didn’t hear the remainder of the sentence.
The fairy shook her head and smiled wryly. “Haven’t you realized? The point of every trial so far has been to try and make you and the crown prince get to know each other better.”
From the upsy-daisy to the “no more than ten steps apart,” the 12 Trials of Love had been trying to warm things up between the two of them. Otherwise, there would never be any intimate interactions between the two proud teenagers.
Unfortunately, Feng Wu still hadn’t realized the purpose of the trials.
“Feng Wu!” Jun Linyuan shook her violently.
“That hurts!” Feng Wu cried out and sat up.
Jun Linyuan stared at her and let out a breath of relief. He leaned back onto the slope and was too tired to even move a finger.
He wanted to scold Feng Wu but didn’t have the energy to do it.
Feng Wu realized that she had overreacted, so she scratched her head and said, “Is it because of our body swap? I’m not used to your body yet and can’t control your power well. It’s too easy to use too much energy.”
