Feng Wu buried her face in her hands. “But I’m not qualified to go. Her Majesty the empress dowager gave the order to exclude me from the entourage!”
The crown prince looked at Feng Wu as if she was an idiot. “Are you stupid?”
Feng Wu was dumbfounded.
The crown prince said, “That order is meaningless to me.”
Feng Wu said, “Ahem, that’s an imperial decree.”
Jun Linyuan said, “To other people.”
He was always the one who would be treated differently.
Feng Wu shook her head. What more could she say?
Most of the crown prince’s entourage had left for Dingwu Gate, led by Granny Gong.
When they arrived, the others were ready to set off.
The chief steward had been keeping an eye on the surroundings, and was finally relieved when he saw the people of the crown prince’s residence.
“His Royal Highness is finally here!” The chief steward heaved a sigh of relief.
Bai frowned.
He hadn’t expected Jun Linyuan to arrive in time, and had thought that he could use the opportunity to trash the crown prince. What a waste of an opportunity… Bai was disappointed.
“I see that His Royal Highness decided to show up at the last minute,” Bai said sarcastically.
The chief steward glanced at Bai. “Master Bai, I advise you not to step out of line. His Royal Highness’s position isn’t easily shaken.”
Bai snorted and wouldn’t comment.
A stepmother could turn a real father into a stepfather as well. His Majesty doted on Empress Dugu right now, and of course, he loved their son, the second prince. Was the crown prince’s position that stable? Bai didn’t think so.
The chief steward was about to tell Emperor Wu that the crown prince was here, when Granny Gong gave him a wry smile.
She then told him that the crown prince wasn’t in the carriage.
“What?!” The chief steward panicked.
“How can His Royal Highness not be here?!” The chief steward stared at Granny Gong in disbelief. “Granny Gong, this isn’t the time to make jokes like that!”
Bai gave Granny Gong a strange look as well.
Granny Gong smiled bitterly. She knew what the situation was like right now, but what could she do about the willful prince?
Just then, they heard Emperor Wu’s voice from the carriage nearby.
“What’s with the noise?”
Bai immediately seized the opportunity to step forward and answer loudly, “Your Majesty, the crown prince’s entourage is here.”
The chief steward and Granny Gong frowned as they stared at Bai.
Bai had put it in such an ambiguous way that he had deliberately made the emperor think that the crown prince had arrived.
Emperor Wu was still mad, and he smirked when he heard that. “Tell that unruly son of mine to get over here!”
Granny Gong knew that she couldn’t let things go on like this, so she stepped forward, bowed to the imperial carriage, and replied, “Your Majesty, His Royal Highness hasn’t arrived yet.”
WHAT?!
Empress Dugu’s instigation earlier already made Emperor Wu very displeased with Jun Linyuan’s arrogance, and he flared up when he heard Granny Gong’s answer.
“Smack!”
Emperor Wu smacked his chair and an armrest fell off.
Seeing this, Empress Dugu immediately held his arm and said softly, “Your Majesty, please don’t be angry. Do calm down. Rage is bad for you, and your health is the most important thing.”
