Zhao Shuncheng’s face turned dark. He looked at the weeping woman beside him impatiently. The hint of gentleness and tolerance no longer appeared in his eyes. Instead, all that was left was an apparent hint of disgust.
“The decision lies with Youlin, not me.”
“Then, you can talk to Youlin…” Before Li Hongyu finished her words, she choked under Zhao Shuncheng’s furious glare.
“Instead of begging me to plead with Youlin, what you need to do now is to discipline your own daughter so that she won’t do anything outrageous again. Otherwise, nobody can save her.”
“But…” Li Hongyu wanted to continue. However, Zhao Shuncheng interrupted her impatiently.
“Youlin has spared her this time. But, if Youxi does not reflect on herself and repent of her sin, Youlin would hand over the recording to the former master. By then, not only Youxi, but also myself as well as Youming would all be ruined!”
“What?!” Li Hongyu’s face turned white. She was so shocked that she fell down on the floor.
“That’s all I want to say today. It all depends on Youlin if she wants to lodge a police report or hand it over to the former master. It has nothing to do with me. You guys just do whatever you can. As for Zhao Enterprise, Youxi is never going to return there for the rest of her life.” Zhao Shuncheng spoke firmly. After that, he pulled his leg out of Li Hongyu’s hand without hesitation, turned around and left the messy hall.
When Zhao Shuncheng walked away, the hall was only left with Li Hongyu and her daughter.
Only then did Zhao Youxi snap out of her daze. She timidly moved to Li Hongyu’s side and sobbed, “Mother, I don’t want to go to jail! I don’t want to be ruled over by Youlin. I don’t want to be at her mercy for the rest of my life!”
Li Hongyu heard her cries. She turned back and looked at her swollen cheeks. She could not bear to look at her like this. She reached out and pulled her daughter into her arms, and she comforted her, “Alright, alright. Don’t cry anymore. I’ll come up with a solution for you. I won’t let you go to jail. Above all, I won’t spare that wench!”
“Mother, you mean…” Zhao Youxi froze. She looked up at Li Hongyu with teary eyes from her arms.
“Having the whatsoever recording with that wench is simply like having a time bomb with her. Even your younger brother might be blown up at any time, let alone yourself. Moreover, Youming is going to return soon. We can’t let the wench have the crime evidence on her by the time he comes back.” The same hint of killing intent flashed across Li Hongyu and Zhao Youxi’s eyes.
Li Hongyu did not believe even the tiniest bit that Zhao Youlin would not make things difficult for them, especially since Zhao Youlin had something with her that could be used to threaten them. Li Hongyu could either do nothing, or if she did, she was in for a penny. There was only one type of person in this world who could keep a secret, and it was only this type of person who could gain her trust.
As Zhao Shuncheng’s family was grief-stricken, Zhao Youlin was in a good mood after avenging herself as well as successfully driving a wedge between Zhao Shuncheng and the mother-daughter pair. However, her good mood did not last long.
The proposal to invest in the suburbs was finalized after dragging for half a month. As expected, Mu Tingfeng’s land… would be used for this purpose.
Little did Zhao Youlin expect that the land was obtained in such a way…
Looking at the signed land transfer agreement placed in front of herself, Zhao Shunrong and Duan Yarong, Zhao Youlin quirked her eyebrows, “What does Mu Tingfeng mean by this? Did he feel sorry for giving me too little when we divorced and so, he wants to compensate me with another expensive gift?”
Xiao Jingyao was teased by Zhao Youlin’s words, he said helplessly, “When President Mu’s secretary sent the agreement over, he said this is a gift for you, General Manager. Of course, if you don’t mind, you could take it as a token of sincerity for courting you all over again.”
Zhao Youlin felt speechless, “What do you mean by courting? Please stop mentioning it, okay?”
“Courting? Mu Tingfeng wants to court Youlin all over again?” Duan Yarong drew in a cold breath when she heard Xiao Jingyao’s words. Then, she looked at Zhao Youlin in puzzlement.
The smile on Zhao Youlin’s face stiffened. She smiled dryly and looked away.
‘Don’t ask me anything now. Don’t ask me… Don’t ask me… I don’t know anything!’
Unfortunately, even though Zhao Youlin did not want to speak a word about it, it did not mean the rest would do the same. Xiao Jingyao shot a glance at Zhao Youlin, then, he cast another glance at Duan Yarong and Zhao Shunrong who were giving him questioning glances. He reached out to hold the gold-rimmed glasses on the bridge of his nose, cleared his throat and said, “In fact, it seems true that President Mu is courting the general manager like crazy lately. We’ve heard that President Mu sent a huge bouquet of 99 roses anonymously to her office daily which he had personally handpicked. Recently, he seems to have switched to another type of flower. I heard it’s 99 blue enchantresses.”
“Such a thing was happening?!” Duan Yarong was so shocked and locked gazes with Zhao Shunrong. Then, they shifted their gazes to Zhao Youlin.
Zhao Youlin felt she had the urge to kill Mu Tingfeng right away. She stayed there awkwardly for some time before she decided to target Mighty Secretary Xiao who had revealed the secret. She gritted her teeth and said, “Like he mentioned, the flowers are anonymous. Uncle Xiao, I wonder how you know it so well.”
‘Since you know so much, why didn’t you tell me in the beginning?! Why did you only leak it out after so much had happened?! Uncle Xiao, are you trying to watch me making a fool of myself’
Meanwhile, Xiao Jingyao confronted Zhao Youlin’s man-eating glare fearlessly. His glasses on the bridge of his nose shone brightly, and he said indifferently, “I just heard about this from the staff. I knew nothing about it before. Moreover, I thought the general manager knew this very well herself.”
In other words, what he meant was that he just learned about this recently, and he had thought the party involved should know it best without needing an outsider like him to remind her.
After listening to Xiao Jingyao’s defense, Zhao Youlin glared at him furiously, ‘Darn you!
‘On second thought, what does he mean by him hearing about this from the staff? Does he mean that the matter has spread across the company, and everyone knows about this?!’
Who the hell had such a big mouth as to spread the words about things like this? That person had best not let her find him out. Otherwise, she would not spare him!
Just then, Mighty Secretary Xia was working diligently outside the president’s office. He suddenly felt something with the tip of his nose, and the next moment, he sneezed very loudly, and it rang throughout the empty corridor.
Xia Zhetao rubbed his itchy nose and thought to himself, ‘Who’s talking about me?’
Zhao Youlin groaned to herself. She resisted the urge to cover her face and did not know if she should laugh or cry. Just then, before she could calm herself down, a certain one asked her.
“Youlin, is what Secretary Xiao said all true?” Upon hearing Duan Yarong’s question that was filled with complexity and worry, Zhao Youlin was snapped out of her daze.
The smile on Zhao Youlin stiffened once again. She knew that she could not hide the matter from them forever. She heaved a sigh, “Yes, it’s true.”
