The dialogue from the mobile phone kept playing until Zhao Youxi could clearly be heard trying to make a grab for that thing while shouting angrily. Each word was heard clearly, and all had been recorded on the mobile phone.
Zhao Youlin had already heard Zhao Youxi shouting outside. So, she had used the glass bottle to provoke Zhao Youxi to tell the truth herself. At the same time, she also planned to record everything she said.
Once Zhao Youxi entered her office, Zhao Youlin discreetly switched on the recorder on her mobile phone. The reason why she had provoked Zhao Youxi was because she knew Zhao Youxi was quick to anger and was rash. A little provocation might be enough for Zhao Youxi to lose her rationale. Luckily, they were within arm’s reach while she was fishing for information, so she could record her words clearly.
Zhao Youlin knew that the glass bottle as well as the surveillance camera inside the building could not present sufficient evidence to convict Zhao Youxi of her crimes. Moreover, there were still too many uncertainties up in the air. What happened if Zhao Youxi managed to find a silver-tongued lawyer to defend her, or what if something happened to the evidence when the police got involved in the investigation? Anything was possible for Zhao Youxi to wiggle her way out of her desperate situation.
Instead of facing various changes by then, Zhao Youlin might as well burn Zhao Youxi’s bridges and make her admit the horrible deeds which she had committed. With that, she would be stripped of the possibility to retract her confessions.
Zhao Youlin gave Zhao Youxi a cold stare, whose expression grew increasingly troubled as the phone replayed more of the conversation. Zhao Youlin stopped the recording and stuffed the mobile phone into her pocket. Then, she smiled faintly and said, “If the fingerprints on the glass bottle are not sufficient to be presented as crime evidence, how about this recording which contains your own confession…”
“You…!” Zhao Youxi was very angry. She was already frustrated over the crime evidence being left behind due to her own mistake. Little did she know that Zhao Youlin had dug a pit and lured her to jump into it. There was nothing more frustrating than this.
“Word of advice, don’t even think of grabbing my things. You should know better than myself about your standards and my standards. One should at least have some skills if she wants to grab something from me. And you, as it happens, lack the skills!”
Zhao Youxi stared at Zhao Youlin’s smug face. For the first time ever… she realized that perhaps, she was wrong.
If this were the past, even if Zhao Youxi was repeatedly reminded by her own rationality that the Zhao Youlin before her was now a very dangerous woman, Zhao Youxi would still instinctively treat her as the once-cowardly girl in the Zhao family, who could be simply mocked, beaten and cussed by Li Hongyu and herself. However, today, for the first time… she found that Zhao Youlin was really a changed woman.
Zhao Youxi should have realized that Zhao Youlin was completely different from her previous self ever since she divorced and when she caused Zhao Youlin trouble the first time. Perhaps she had changed even earlier.
Zhao Youlin took no notice of how conflicted and alarmed Zhao Youxi currently was. Zhao Youlin had already gotten what she wanted. She had accomplished her goals and so, there was no need to continue wasting her breath with Zhao Youxi.
“Actually, I don’t have to get you jailed.”
Zhao Youxi abruptly looked up when she heard this. Her eyes sparkled, but they were also filled with wariness as she stared at Zhao Youlin.
‘What is this?! Is this the carrot and stick approach?!’ Zhao Youxi did not believe that the woman would be so kind-hearted as to spare her without any conditions. If Zhao Youlin were really that kind-hearted, she would not have gone through all the trouble to try to get information from her in the beginning.
One had to say that Zhao Youxi was smart this time, which rarely happened.
Zhao Youlin saw a hint of caution in Zhao Youxi’s gaze. Her eyes gleamed and she said sarcastically, “No matter what, you’re still considered part of the Zhao family. Zhao Enterprise’s stock price might drop if the scandal about intentional homicide spreads. As the general manager of Zhao Enterprise, I naturally would put my company as a priority. Since this incident could put the company’s interest at stake, it’s better to settle this among ourselves in private.”
Zhao Youxi sensed the ruthlessness in Zhao Youlin’s words. She shuddered, gritted her teeth, and said, “What do you want?”
Zhao Youlin glared at Zhao Youxi and stated her purpose, “I want you to leave Zhao Enterprise. Moreover, from now on, you will never set foot in Zhao Enterprise again for the rest of your life.”
“What?!” Zhao Youxi’s pupils shrank as soon as she heard Zhao Youlin’s words. She jerked forward a little as if she wanted to lunge at Zhao Youlin. However, she stopped, as she was afraid of the highly-skilled Zhao Youlin.
Zhao Youxi’s complexion kept changing. In the end, her expression turned into obvious resentment. “How can you do that?! What right do you have to make me leave Zhao Enterprise?! What right—”
“As a matter of fact, I actually do have that right.” Zhao Youlin smiled. She took the initiative and walked up to Zhao Youxi. She pretended to be mysterious and said, “Zhao Enterprise was something so tempting in your eyes that you could not wait to own it. However, it is nothing to me. Even so, I still joined it. Do you want to know the reason why?”
Zhao Youxi’s lips trembled. She stared wide-eyed as Zhao Youlin walked closer to her.
Zhao Youlin was clearly wearing a warm smile on her face. Yet, Zhao Youxi felt a shiver crawl up her spine and all the way up to her head. She unwittingly shivered.
Zhao Youxi gulped with difficulty and asked hesitantly, “Why?”
“Why? Of course, it’s all because Grandpa gave me the greatest convenience here — an absolute right to fire people. Ever heard of those words? It doesn’t matter if you haven’t heard of them. Anyway, the general idea is that Grandpa has granted me a right. A right that says other than my father, who is the president of the company, as long as I find anyone displeasing, including the directors, I can fire them without asking for any approval from my superiors and ask them to leave right away.”
“H-How… is that possible?” Zhao Youxi took two steps back in horror and disbelief.
“What? You don’t believe it?” Zhao Youlin wickedly moved closer to Zhao Youxi and as expected, Zhao Youxi took a few steps back in a panic. The corners of Zhao Youlin’s lips curled upward, and she said, “It doesn’t matter, you’ll soon be able to experience that. Li, get me two security guards.”
Li was the secretary who had blocked Zhao Youxi outside.
When Zhao Youxi heard Zhao Youlin calling for the security guards, her expression changed slightly. A bad feeling crept over her, and she said, “What are you calling security guards for?”
“Of course I want to…” Zhao Youlin smiled mockingly. Just then, Li pushed open the door and entered with two security guards.
“General Manager.”
Zhao Youlin nodded at the three people. Then, she pointed at Zhao Youxi and said, “Send Ms. Zhao out now.”
Right after Zhao Youlin spoke, Li and the rest inside the office froze.
“General Manager, do you mean sending Ms. Zhao out of the office?”
Zhao Youlin glared at her secretary reproachfully and added, “No, what I meant is to toss her out of Zhao Enterprise, understand?”
“Er… Understood.”
“Zhao Youlin, how dare you?!” Zhao Youlin was stunned for some time before she was snapped out of her daze upon hearing Zhao Youlin’s words.
“I really dare to do so. Zhao Youxi, let me tell you clearly…” Zhao Youlin narrowed her eyes and enunciated each and every word clearly, “You. Are. Fired!”
