None of the new players could sleep peacefully through their first night in the Land of Inheritance after what they had gone through during the day. Even if some of them had managed to fall into slumber later in the night, they were soon woken up by the noises just outside their shelter rooms caused by the early rising settlers who were working out. Not to mention Lu Zhishen and Ji Ye, who were making quite a disturbance by engaging in a hand-to-hand spar that sounded as loud as fireworks during a new year celebration.
Both annoyed and curious, several players looked through the window.
“Again, Chief Lu!”
After getting knocked away by a fierce punch, Ji Ye touched down and immediately charged at his training partner at high speed.
His Mantis Fist was already at the “achieved” level. From then on, sitting inside the “virtual training space” alone would not help him gain any more proficiency. He had to polish it through real combat.
All the wisdom he had gained through the Fusion skill was theoretical after all.
Both of them were using their full Extraordinary combat strength. As they rushed and stumbled everywhere inside the practice arena, the marble floor beneath their bare feet was left with cracks. It wasn’t that they wanted to fight without wearing any shoes. It was just that, they couldn’t find any shoe-making materials that allowed them to run and kick without tearing them apart.
“God dammit. No wonder he can crack open the hog king’s head with his fist,” someone muttered.
“This is the kind of strength we can find in the future, right? Man, to think that he can take on Lu Zhishen…”
Meanwhile, Su Nongying felt her heartbeat racing again, just like when she was watching Ji Ye’s survival videos. She wondered if she should step up and reveal her true thoughts to him right away.
She couldn’t find any of her professionalism ever since she entered the Land of Inheritance. She had only felt more vulnerable when it came to her inner emotions, since the man she adored was that close.
“I’ve read that ‘player ranking list’ someone made up but… This guy should be placed within the top ten, and yet he isn’t there,” Xu Xue wondered, “Is this because of the theme of this settlement?”
As an actor and singer who had garnered a lot of fame thanks to her company and her agent, Xu Xue was aware that most of her reputation didn’t actually belong to her. She felt rather jealous when she saw all the players becoming more respected than international movie stars overnight, just because they had entered the Land of Inheritance.
But she changed her mind, since she had also been granted such a chance.
“I must be in a very promising settlement. If I make a glorious return after a month… People all over the world will know about me. To hell with those cheap prizes and Hollywood awards. They are nothing compared to what I have in store!”
She never questioned why she wasn’t among the first group of players to begin with. Though she was too blind to think about that matter at the moment.
Not everyone stayed inside to watch. Qin Yueyu was already reading her getup and was fetching her wooden bow. Then she found a practice target at the side of the arena.
Li Qing had already left the room. He was talking to several settler guards outside, hoping to study the “Arhat Fist” with them.
Seeing them working so hard, the rest of them went outside since they could no longer sleep anyway. Though they weren’t really sure what to do once they reached the arena.
The arrival of the two elder members finally gave them something to talk about, because they had a completely different appearance from the day prior. For some reason, their steps seemed steady and faster than those of healthy young men. Their white hair had even started gaining shades.
“Good morning. How do you feel?” Ji Ye approached them and asked, after finishing his practice.
In the previous evening, he gave the older players some resources he had saved up in the settlement, including the Earthen Elixir, the extract of a Red Pip and some Frigid Water. He expected those magical components would help the old men feel better to a certain extent, though he didn’t think they would work so wonderfully.
That probably had to do because of the already worsened state of the users. Like watering a withering plant, the effect of the “medicines” was immediate and obvious.
“This is bliss!” Old Jiao showed a face-splitting grin. “I feel 20 years younger. Now I’m ready to walk over to the next town if I have to. Thank you kindly, master. It must have taken you a lot of work to find those brilliant concoctions.”
Old Meng didn’t speak, but his gratitude was there regardless.
“Well, I did need to get past Extraordinary monsters to get those,” said Ji Ye, “Please understand that I can only give you a limited amount when you need them most.”
This had told everyone else that they wouldn’t be getting those “amazing concoctions” freely.
Apart from the old men, Ji Ye had intentionally allowed Qin Yueyu and Li Qing to drink some Red Pip juice the day before when everyone was watching. He meant to show people that hard work would always pay off.
“Yesterday, our informant in the settlement discovered another group of targets possibly commanded by an Extraordinary monster,” Ji Ye explained while carefully observing the looks of those present, “In theory, we can find more resources we can use inside their lair. We can’t tell what exactly for now. Perhaps some kind of medicine that lets you stay young for longer. Later, I’ll bring some people to look for it. Also, we need to get rid of the monsters so they don’t pose a threat to the settlement.”
Li Qing and Qin Yueyu visibly grew excited since they had already learned how potent the “Red Pip Juice” was. The other ladies also looked eager as soon as they heard the “staying young” part.
Even Jiang Wenming’s expression changed slightly. Last night, Ji Ye had actually provided him with a ‘Red Pip Spirit Milk’ in private under his individual capacity. After using it, he felt that his body was ten years younger today!
However, this was definitely to return his favor. If he wanted to obtain more of these Extraordinary spiritual objects that could rejuvenate him, he definitely needed to make sufficient contributions to this settlement.
Ji Ye didn’t require any of the players to follow him that time, yet none of them wanted to be left behind.
