This was a real quandary!
However, we would cross that bridge when we reached it. In the end, Jing Tian would extricate himself from the Jing Family anyway. Furthermore, Jing Ning wouldn’t dare do anything to Jing Tian.
However, I had another problem.
I told Jing Tian about Lu Yan.
“Say, what do you think I can do to send Lu Yan to Master Gu Er’s side?” I muttered. Actually, I wasn’t asking Jing Tian. I was just thinking out loud.
“Why are you helping her?” Jing Tian asked me.
Well, the answer wasn’t that presentable. So I only smiled and said nothing.
Jing Tian flicked my forehead. “You’re trying to set the world burning, aren’t you?”
I covered my forehead and said indignantly, “That’s wrong. It’s a cruel thing for Mrs. Ye and her daughter to be separated! Ye Qian would never give Lu Yan a chance to get close to Mrs. Ye, so Lu Yan’s only choice was to approach Master Gu Er. I think that is quite logical!”
Jing Tian smiled but didn’t say anything.
I continued to explain, “Plus, I feel sorry for Lu Yan.”
Jing Tian chuckled. “I honestly do not think that is the case. The girl can plan meticulously so she can handle things on her own. You’re going to have her fight Ye Qian so you’ll have a show to watch?”
Well, since he put it that way…
“Ever since Ye Qian and her gang came, how much trouble they had caused me? They have targeted me every time they are free. If not for my luck and tough nature, I would have died multiple times already. And that Gu Yan, she is still obsessed with marrying you. Why can’t she just get the message and stop? She is more annoying than threatening. Finally, I have a chance to strike back, so why shouldn’t I take it?”
Jing Tian rubbed my head lovingly. “I’ve always loved how frank you are.”
I clung to his palm, enjoying his love. “I’ve always been a vindictive person. I’m not like those female leads in romance novels. All they do is claim innocence and say that they would never harm anyone. That is such a lie! They have done so much damage in retaliation! The only way to not harm anyone is not to have any enemy. But when your enemy has made their moves, are you supposed to sit there and take it? Why can’t I counter?”
Jing Tian laughed.
I glared at him angrily. What did I say wrong?
Jing Tian finally stopped laughing. He lifted my chin and kissed me on the lips. “You’re right! Then, you should help your roommate.”
“But how? I can’t think of anything.” I tilted my head to look at him, rubbing my chin against his palm.
Jing Tian muttered, “Gu Nian’s assistant just emigrated. This is a headache for Gu Nian.”
My eyes lit up.
“Really? How did you know?” I asked him.
“This is not a secret. We have business interaction, so naturally, we know about the movements of important people in each other’s companies,” Jing Tian replied.
“So this assistant was someone important?” That was surprising to me.
Jing Tian allowed me to lean on his shoulder.
“Yes. In fact, the role of the assistant is vital. They are like Gao Jing and Gao Da. If they left, it would be like Tong Le, and I had lost our arms,” Jing Tian explained patiently.
I got it then. “In that case, why did Gu Nian agree to allow his assistant to leave? If Brother Xiao Jing or Brother Gao Da were to leave, I would kneel and beg them to stay!”
Jing Tian couldn’t help laughing. “Gao Jing and Gao Da will be so happy to hear that. At least they didn’t waste their attention and concern on you.”
I ignored his teasing. “So why did Gu Nian allow his assistant to leave?”
Jing Tian stopped smiling and said seriously, “Nanxing, you’re thinking with emotions, and that is wrong. The better the boss, the more tenuous their relationship with their subordinates.”
