Sister Li ran down in a panic. “Miss, Miss, what is happening? Who are these people?”
My gaze locked with Madam Mai’s. Without turning around, I said, “Sister Li, pass down this order. Everyone just stays where they are and don’t move. Let them search. But if they break anything, take down the picture and send it to me immediately!”
Sister Li calmed down and said, “Yes, Miss!” No wonder she was hand-picked by my little uncle. She was very qualified to be a member of this family.
Mrs. Mai sneered. “How much can the things here be worth anyway? Break anything you find!”
“Madam, you need to calm down!” Ye Qian raised her voice. She stepped forward to pat Mrs. Mai’s hand and whispered something into her ears. Since Mrs. Mai didn’t object, Ye Qian instructed the guards. “Look for Miss Ye but don’t damage anything.”
Since Mrs. Mai didn’t say anything, they replied in unison, “Yes, miss!”
I glanced at Ye Qian, “Miss Ye can remain calm under any circumstances. That is so admirable.”
Ye Qian smiled. “I know Miss Nan is not a bad person but I hope you can empathize with Mrs. Mai. Mai Qi is her only daughter. If anything happens to Mai Qi, it will kill her.”
I smiled. “Unfortunately, I don’t have Miss Ye’s empathy. I can’t put myself in other people’s perspectives. I am not born to be a kind person I suppose.”
Our eyes met and Ye Qian smiled faintly. Ye Qian did not want Mrs. Mai and Gu Yan to know that she had contacted me in private. Antagonizing her would help her greatly. I aided her and she was appreciative of it.
Sure enough, Gu Yan jumped to her rescue, “You always pick on Sister Ye Qian because she is too kind!”
This Gu Yan was a real fool. She was sold by Ye Qian but she still thanked her for it.
I shrugged. “Do you want me to pick on you instead, the great and important Miss Gu?”
“You…” Gu Yan glared at me fiercely.
A bodyguard ran back. “Madam, we can’t find miss.”
The bodyguards surfaced one after another. None of them could find anything. Mrs. Mai’s face was green.
Gu Yan was puzzled. She asked the bodyguards. “Are you sure you checked everywhere?”
The bodyguards nodded.
I sneered. “Miss Gu, why don’t you search the premise yourself then?”
Gu Yan glared at me.
Ye Qian stepped forward and said softly, “Madam, maybe Mai Qi is really not here. If she is, Nanxing will not be so calm. But look at her. Mai Qi is probably really isn’t here.”
Mrs. Mai glared at me angrily. She reached out and swept a flower pot beside her to the ground. The pot was Qing Dynasty porcelain. It was not particularly expensive but it was not cheap either.
“Let us go!” Mrs. Mai waved her hand and retreated.
“Wait a minute!” I raised my voice to stop them.
Madam Mai slowly turned around and looked at me provocatively. “What? Is there anything you want to say?”
I smiled. “Madam, what do you think? My house was searched without a permit and my items were intentionally damaged. Do you expect me to thank you for that?”
Mrs. Mai shrugged as if saying, ‘what can you do about that?’
I took out my phone and operated it quickly.
As a top student in computer science and Jing Tian’s student, I cut the videos quickly. I showed Mrs. Mai and her people the video. “This is the footage from over the house. I edited them into a short video for convenience.”
Mrs. Mai scoffed. “So what? Are you going to call the police on me? Don’t make me laugh.”
