I pounced on him. “Little uncle, you’re not allowed to talk like that again! You’re the only family I have left. No one is going to step over your dead body. If anyone dares to hurt you, I will fight them to my death!” I hugged him tightly and refused to let go.
My little uncle allowed me to hug him. It took him quite a while to regain his senses. He gently stroke my hair. “There is no fighting for you as long as I am here. You should be happy and have the freedom to do anything you want!”
This was my uncle, someone who was related to me by blood.
My little uncle forgave me for hacking into his computer. Of course, that was also because Jing Tian had promised to help him clean up the mess.
With regards to the things I wanted to know, he still didn’t tell me anything. As the master of the Tong Family, he saw it as his responsibility to protect me. However, both Tong Le and Jing Tian promised that they would not intervene into my freedom, both in my business life and private life.
…
Jing Ni soon selected a house. She asked me to help her make the decision. We brought Auntie Bai Rui to visit the house. Jing Ni and I agreed that Auntie Bai Rui’s opinion should matter the most. Auntie Bai Rui studied the house’s type, structure, decoration, advantages and disadvantages with the agent carefully while Jing Ni and I followed silently from behind.
I sighed.
“What’s wrong? Do you think there’s something wrong with this house?” Jing Ni was starting to panic.
I quickly smiled. “No, no. Auntie Bai Rui is more experienced than we do when it comes to stuff like this. She’ll be able to detect problems that we won’t be able to.”
Jing Ni smiled as she turned to look at her mother. The role of this mother and daughter pair was reversed. Auntie Bai Rui was the one who needed to be taken care of most. Compared to Auntie Bai Rui, Jing Ni and I had a more ‘rougher’ life.
“Ni Ni, who would have thought that the third miss of the Jing Family would settle for a small house like this? If you are willing, I’m sure you’ll be able to find a rich second generation to marry you.” I probed.
Jing Ni nudged me and I almost knocked into the ashy wall. Jing Ni looked down the window and she uttered, “You know, Nanxing. For some reason, I keep having this same dream.” She looked left and right before she looked down. “In this dream, I leap out from the window of an opulent apartment building again and again.”
My heart skipped a beat. “Ni Ni…” That was not a dream, it was how her life ended in her previous life.
Jing Ni turned to face me. “Nanxing, I am no longer the third miss of the Jing Family. I knew better than anyone why I had to leave that family. No matter what, I will not return.”
I opened my arms to pull her into a hug. I patted her back. “Fine. If you don’t want to be the Jing Family’s third miss, then you shall be CEO Ni of Sky City. Money will not be an issue for us in the future anymore.”
Jing Ni finally laughed. Auntie Bai Rui walked over. “What are you two talking about again? Are you talking behind my back?”
I chuckled. “Jing Ni and I are making calculations. How long it will take for Ni Ni to sell this house and buy a small villa. That way, Auntie Bai Rui, you can have your dream garden.”
Auntie Bai Rui smiled. “In this life, I’ve learned to appreciate what I have. There’s no need to think so far ahead. As long as the two of you are safe and sound, nothing is more important.”
Jing Ni grabbed her mother’s hands. “Mom, Nanxing loaned me half of the down payment for this place so we need to leave a room for her.”
Auntie Bai Rui held my hands. She was touched. “Nanxing, thank you so much. Xiao Ni must have done many good things in her past life to have met a friend like you!”
Jing Ni blinked at me. I told Auntie Bai Rui. “Auntie, you should just see me as your second daughter. Perhaps, Jing Ni and I were sisters in our previous lives, who knows.” Auntie Bai Rui smiled.
The house was relatively new. Jing Ni and her mother could move in after some cleaning. Jing Ni and Auntie Bai Rui did all the preparation themselves. Jing Ni only mustered the courage to tell Jing Tian the truth on the day she was going to move out.
Jing Tian looked at Jing Ni and then at me. I was pulled over by Jing Ni as moral support. Jing Tian didn’t say anything and handed Jing Ni a bank card. Jing Ni was surprised.
Jing Tian looked at me and I grabbed the card and stuffed it into Jing Ni’s hands.
Jing Tian said emotionlessly. “I’ll have someone transfer 100,000 RMB into the card every month. Consider it pocket money for you and your mother.” Jing Ni was overwhelmed. She quickly rejected the card. I pressed back it into her hands. Jing Tian continued, “You’ll get nothing more from me. It’s good that you’re trying to earn your own living. I’ll make sure they don’t come disturb you and Bai Rui. Study hard.”
Jing Ni was so moved that she was tearing up.
Jing Tian wasn’t good with words, but actions often spoke louder than words anyway.
I was happy for Jing Ni. She could finally be in charge of her life.
I hoped her bad dream would be nothing more than that, a dream. I prayed that Ni Ni would not encounter those incidents and people from her dream in this life.
