“Doesn’t Prince Yun want to have Princess Consort Hao? If that’s the case, isn’t this old man doing you a favour by helping you get rid of a baby that you dislike?” The man in the black cloak spoke casually, as if taking an unborn baby’s life was nothing.
Yun Ruofeng smirked. “This Prince said I wanted her, not to hurt her.”
“Prince Yun has an agreement with this old man, and you also have an agreement with Hua Ziqing. I must wonder if you are sincere.” The man in the black cloak commented.
Yun Ruofeng realised that the man in the cloak wasn’t easy to deal with, but this only made him more excited about the possibilities if he were to properly utilise this mysterious figure.
“This Prince likes to be in control of things. I don’t like putting all my eggs in one basket.”
The man in the black cloak answered, “Me too, Prince Yun. Thus, I hope you can give me an answer soon; you have six hours.”
“Are you threatening me?” Yun Ruofeng asked flatly. It was more of a comment than a question.
The man in the black cloak waved a hand and said, “What are you talking about, Prince Yun? How could such a simple choice be considered a threat?”
“This Prince will accept your condition. However, I’ll be taking your life if I don’t see her in three days.” Yun Ruofeng warned.
The man in the black cloak was unperturbed since Yun Ruofeng’s response meant that he had already given in.
“Sure.” The man answered before leaving the room.
Yun Ruofeng smashed a teacup into smithereens after the man left.
Though Yun Ruofeng wanted Su Xi-er for himself, he did not want to hurt her any further. He had already hurt her once, but the man in the black cloak was right about the fact that he wanted to get rid of the baby that wasn’t his.
Resentment bubbled up in his heart, forcing his fists to clench so hard that his nails pierced his palms.
In the posthouse.
Su Xi-er brought Yu Xiao to where Li Zikang was being held. They found the once proud general of Xiliu in a pathetic state, dressed in simple white garb while blindfolded and bound.
“Yu Xiao, what would you like to do with him?” Su Xi-er asked.
Yu Xiao held onto his injured arm and chuckled. “Princess Consort, I’ll take care of this alone. Please step outside.”
Su Xi-er nodded at this. She understood how bitter Yu Xiao felt, and knew that it would be better to allow him to vent alone.
Pei Qianhao was waiting for her outside, and scooped her up in his arms once she exited to take her back to their own room.
Li Zikang looked anxious. “What are you going to do? Secret torture is illegal in Xiliu.”
Yu Xiao tore his blindfold off without answering.
Upon realising that he wasn’t in the palace dungeons, Li Zikang knew he was in hot water.
Did Master give up on me? No way, there’s no way that Master would abandon me like this.
Realisation hit him only when he saw Yu Xiao there. “It’s you. What are you going to do?”
A cold glint flashed past Yu Xiao’s eyes. “Nothing much. I’d just like to pay you back in kind.”
Li Zikang was terrified. He knew exactly what he did to Yu Xiao, and he knew that he wouldn’t be able to withstand it.
“How dare you! Is Prince Hao planning to destroy the friendship between two nations?”
It was a meager attempt by Li Zikang to threaten Yu Xiao, and Yu Xiao simply scoffed at him. “Do you think you’re still Xiliu’s general? Ask yourself, would you be here if your master hadn’t already discarded a useless pawn?”
A split second later, he mercilessly pierced through Li Zikang’s shoulder blade with a metal hook.
