The spring tour ended early, and everyone looked dejected.
Only Chi Jiao looked radiant and excited. Her eyes were filled with happiness!
Chi Jiao had never been interested in the spring outing. She would rather return earlier to see Brother Quan!
Just the thought of Quan Jue made Chi Jiao happy. After returning to school, she didn’t go home immediately as the teacher had instructed. Instead, she walked toward the school building where the Grade 12 students were.
She deliberately didn’t tell Quan Jue that she would be back early because she wanted to give him a huge surprise!
Chi Jiao didn’t want to make too much of a fuss. Seeing that it was almost lunchtime, she went to the canteen to buy two set lunches. She then went to the school’s garden pavilion and sent Quan Jue a message.
“Brother Quan Jue, I’ve ordered takeout for you. The delivery person is waiting for you in the garden. Hurry up and go after class.”
Unsatisfied with this simple message, Chi Jiao added a series of hearts before pressing the “send” button.
Ten minutes later, Quan Jue arrived at the small garden and immediately saw her waiting for him in the pavilion.
Quan Jue’s originally cold expression instantly melted the moment he saw Chi Jiao. With a doting smile, he walked to her side and sat down.
“Quan Jue, your takeaway is here. Please sign for it,” Chi Jiao said with a smile.
Quan Jue’s eyes were filled with tenderness. He planted a kiss on her forehead and asked with a smile, “Why didn’t you tell me you were coming back early?”
Chi Jiao leaned into his arms and acted coquettishly. “Of course, it’s to give you a surprise! Were you very surprised?”
Quan Jue smiled at her and reached out to pinch her soft face.
The smile in Chi Jiao’s eyes deepened. She then opened the set lunches. The two of them sat side by side and chatted as they ate.
Chi Jiao told him everything.
Quan Jue nodded thoughtfully. “So, to put it simply, you met a dog with esper abilities.”
“That’s right. Blackie is very big, and it’s especially goofy. The next time we go to the headquarters, we should be able to see it. I can let you see Blackie then.” As Chi Jiao talked about Blackie, the image of its silly face appeared in her mind.
Seeing Chi Jiao smiling happily, Quan Jue couldn’t help smiling too. “Your experience at Mount Da Wan was indeed interesting. Meanwhile, what happened in school was not that pleasant.”
Chi Jiao tilted her head in confusion. “What’s wrong? What happened?”
“I heard that there was a murder case. A corpse was found in the biological laboratory today. A girl died from extreme fear. Because it happened too suddenly, and it didn’t seem she was murdered, the school has temporarily blocked the news. This matter is only circulating among the students now. I reckon that the students from Grade 10 and Grade 11 will be back for lessons tomorrow. This matter can’t be hidden anymore,” Quan Jue said calmly.
“Death from extreme fear?” Chi Jiao felt that this way of dying sounded very strange.
Quan Jue nodded and said without changing his expression, “I heard from others that she witnessed a terrifying scene and was scared to death, but I don’t know the exact situation.”
