Auretin sat up suddenly. As his face had swelled up from Lea’s beating and he was still tipsy, his tongue was stiff and his words somewhat muddled. “Eat? Where? Meat… my meat…”
Gu Mengmeng clutched at her own head and rolled about on the ground. “Master, I have done wrong… stop chanting, stop chanting… ah…!”
With one last miserable cry, Gu Mengmeng fainted.
Lea and Elvis exchanged looks. Elvis lifted Gu Mengmeng into his arms and listened to her soft, even breathing. With a helpless smile, he carried her off to bed. Placing her in the middle, he and Lea flanked her on both sides. Elvis then unleashed his beast pressure, causing Auretin to instantly collapse to the ground in his original form. Lea was not spared either, but since he was already lying ready in bed, he fainted without any qualms.
When Gu Mengmeng woke up the next morning, Wabei was nowhere to be seen.
Of the dozen over barrels of wine, only one was left.
Gu Mengmeng stared at the empty barrels. Gnashing her jaws, she pointed at the sky and hollered. “Little shit! Just you wait and see! I will settle my score with you next year!”
Elvis and Lea rubbed their noses. Neither of them mentioned that it was Gu Mengmeng herself who asked Wabei to drink to his heart’s content.
Lea held Gu Mengmeng by the shoulder and pinched her angry little face. “My precious Mengmeng. Does your head still hurt?”
Gu Mengmeng rubbed her own head. “No. Our wine is organic and without any additives. There isn’t much of a hangover effect.”
Lea wasn’t asking about a hangover, but he didn’t explain. He just pointed at Auretin. “Then do you still wish to eat him? Do you want him fried, stewed or steamed?”
Gu Mengmeng tilted her head and stared at Auretin, who was black and blue all over. She was rather perplexed. “Are you crazy? Why are we eating Auretin when we still have so much food stored at home?”
Lea looked maligned. He replied, “Didn’t you say that you can become an immortal if you eat him, so that you can accompany Elvis and I forever? Such a future would be perfect. Sacrificing one Auretin in exchange for the three of us being together forever. What are we waiting for? Let’s eat him.”
Gu Mengmeng was shocked. She pointed at her own nose. “I… I said that?”
Lea nodded.
Gu Mengmeng shifted her gaze toward Elvis, who also nodded.
Gu Mengmeng held her forehead. “I thought the alcohol content of the wine was not too high and that little bitch Wabei kept toasting me. I lost control for a moment and drank a bit too much… I…seem to have had a memory lapse.”
Rubbing her head, Gu Mengmeng asked cautiously, “Apart from saying that I wanted to eat Auretin… did I say anything else?”
Lea swiveled his eyes ponderously before saying, “You said a lot…” For example, the discussion between you and Wabei on who was whose Daddy.
Gu Mengmeng couldn’t remember what she had said, but if she had claimed that eating Auretin would make her immortal, then the nonsensical level of her ramblings must have been on par with the classic “Strange Stories from a Chinese Studio”.
Lea raised his brows. “Didn’t you tell me previously that ‘in wine lies the truth’?”
Gu Mengmeng lowered her head and patted her thigh. In the manner of a hero facing death with dignity, she said, “Come, I might as well face this head on. Just tell me straight all the embarrassing things I did yesterday?”
