Zhao Yao came to the United States while Uncle Ho and the rest were in the dark. He did not have the Star Cats’ intelligence. To find them in this large country, he had to be smart.
“Look for the United States supernatural realm, then look for Star Cats’ clues.”
Zhao Yao decided to find a few American supercats or apostles and so he had to look for cats first.
Zhao Yao sniffed the air as he walked along in search of the scent of cats.
His eyes lit up and he followed the scent of the cats at high speed. Soon, he arrived at a two-storey house.
California was a large state with a relatively small population. As it was on the earthquake belt, most of the buildings were not high. As compared to the densely populated New York, Californians were living in two-storey houses with lawns and gardens.
Zhao Yao detected strong cat scents coming from the house.
“There are so many cats which is not logical. The supercats must be up to something.”
Zhao Yao focused and a Deflective Field engulfed his entire body and blocked out his reflection and refraction. His figure disappeared into thin air.
Using the Deflective Field to hide himself was Zhao Yao’s own improvisation so it was far inferior to Roly Poly’s natural and powerful invisibility.
Although Zhao Yao’s figure was hidden, if someone looked carefully at him, they would see a transparent figure.
It was sufficient to enter the house discreetly. Zhao Yao moved across the lawn and arrived at a window on the second level. His palm moved and the window flew open. He swam like a fish into the building.
Zhao Yao was overwhelmed by a strong catmint smell.
Dust Ball came out from his arms excitedly and sniffed the air as she said, “This is a catmint smell. The fragrance and purity… is this from Mexico?”
Zhao Yao pushed Dust Ball’s head back inside the cloak. His ears quivered as he heard numerous breaths. He followed the sounds to the stairway and extended his head to observe.
In the living room on the first floor, countless American cats laid on the sofa, floor, window sill, bar counter, and television. Some were chatting, eating and sniffing the catmint by their side. All were indulging in their enjoyment.
“Is this their happy hour?” Zhao Yao blinked his eyes and thought, “Let me ask them if they know about the Star Cats.”
Underneath the cloak, all supercats were bored except for Dust Ball. She looked energetically at Zhao Yao and shouted, “Let me go! Let me go! Let me find out about the Star Cats, Zhao Yao!”
Zhao Yao frowned. Dust Ball would mess up his plan because of her interest in catmint. How could he let her go? He decided to send Elizabeth to chat with the foreign cats.
Elizabeth descended the stairs and interacted with them. It was a neighborhood gathering and she blended very well with the locals because of her sweet looks and glamorous fur.
A few female cats surrounded Elizabeth and chatted non-stop.
A female British Shorthair asked, “Elizabeth! Your fur looks very white and shiny. What brand of cosmetic fur powder are you using?”
“Cosmetic fur powder?” Elizabeth was shocked and said, “Is there such a thing? I haven’t used it.”
The female cats cursed to themselves when they heard Elizabeth’s response. They enthusiastically asked, “What kind of vitamins do you take? Do you take lecithin?”
Elizabeth chatted casually with the female cats until she got a chance to ask, “Do you know about the Star Cats?”
“Star Cats?” The British Shorthair, who asked about the cosmetic fur powder, said, “Of course! Everyone in the States knows about the Star Cats. Because of their stand against the government, we were spared from being dissected in laboratories.”
Another American Shorthair said, “Yes, yes. The Star Cats are amazing. I wanted to join but they said my superpower was too weak so I was excluded.”
The British Shorthair asked curiously, “What’s your superpower?”
The American Shorthair said, “I can go without using the bathroom.”
“What?”
“I can go without the bathroom perpetually.” The American Shorthair explained, “I don’t know where this comes from. No matter how much I eat or drink, I can go without the bathroom forever.”
The British Shorthair said, “Is that an illness? Perhaps constipation? Or enterolith?”
The American Shorthair said angrily, “I said that was my superpower.”
The British Shorthair insisted, “If you’re unable to go to the bathroom, it’s an illness.”
Zhao Yao was piqued as he looked at the American Shorthair. “I’m envious of this superpower. It’s convenient not having to go to the bathroom. This is a great leap forward for the supernatural realm. I’ll ask the cat later if she has a home. If she’s a stray cat…”
Zhao Yao was greatly tempted. The more he thought, the happier he felt. “If I contract this cat for her superpower, I’ll be a couch potato for the whole day and drink a carton of coke without the need to use the bathroom. I’ll eat the chafing dish without worrying about piles… no, I’ll lie down on the bed forever…”
Seeing the two cats about to fight, Elizabeth quickly interjected, “I’d like to join the Star Cats. How do I join them? Do you know where they are?”
“The Star Cats have representatives in many cities. The one nearest here…”
“Isn’t Arthas in Beverly Hills?”
“Yes, yes. Wah, Arthas is very charming!”
“He’s very nice! Last I saw him at the South Coast Plaza, we took a selfie! He looks better in real life than on television and doesn’t put on airs.”
“Really?”
Seeing the female cats chatting happily, Elizabeth rolled her eyes. After obtaining the required information, she went upstairs to inform Zhao Yao.
Zhao Yao furrowed his brows in surprise. “Arthas? Beverly Hills? The tone of these supercats… I don’t think so…”
The internet had connected the whole world but due to language and some mysterious reasons, there was no free flow of information between China and the United States. A lot of high profile American news was unheard of in China.
If one was to look seriously for the news, they would be able to find it but how many people search for information that they do not know about.
Zhao Yao had always thought of the American supernatural realm as similar to China’s. However, the supercats’ chat revealed that it was very different.
