Zhao Yao immediately brought Diana over to Dust Ball. He watched as that plump Ragdoll pressed her even fatter paw against Dust Ball’s head. Instantly, her eyes were snapped shut.
Moments later, Diana’s eyelids began to quiver as her expression contorted into a scowl, “She is still stuck in her dream, in a place filled with catmint.”
By stoking his ego relentlessly, Zhao Yao had successfully caused the sun, Fish Ball, to collide directly against Jiangmen City. The impact of the collision was enough to bring the entire dream universe to the brink of destruction. Hence, even Nightmare Cast was thrown out of it.
However, Dust Ball was hiding inside the extradimensional belly when that happened. Meanwhile, Nekomata remained in his formless state. Hence, both were impervious to the massive destruction due to their unique circumstances. Instead, they continued to linger in the dream world even after Nightmare Cat’s departure.
Zhao Yao already had a clue as to what had happened after hearing Diana’s explanation. Matcha, who was eavesdropping by the side, also had a general idea. Suddenly, he leaped towards Dust Ball before landing a flurry of slaps against her face, “Wake up! I want you to wake up now! Do you know how many cats are waiting for you?”
Dust Ball’s eyelids trembled as she struggled to open them against the blinding light. Disappointment sagged through her as she opened her eyes, “What? So it was all just a dream?” Her bloodshot eyes were completely sunken within the sockets. Her body felt leaden with the abject disappointment weighing down on her. She looked just like a drug addict on cold turkey.
Matcha gave her no time to wallow in self-pity as he roared, “Everyone’s waiting for you before we can start our reunion dinner! Why are you still sleeping? Wake the hell up now!”
Dust Ball’s lifeless body struggled to get on her feet as she complained, “Eat again? I’m still so full.”
Zhao Yao dangled the ultimate bait in her face by saying, “I’ve specially instructed Baiquan to prepare a special catmint sauce. You can try and see if it’s nice.”
“Really?” Those words were like caffeine injected straight into her bloodstream as she jumped with excitement. However, her paws started to run along the grooves on her cheeks as she muttered, “Why do my cheeks feel somewhat swollen?”
Matcha immediately clarified, “You accidentally smashed your face against the floor during your sleep. I immediately helped you up the moment you fell.”
Zhao Yao was overwhelmed with happiness when he saw all his cats sitting diligently in their respective seats, “Alright, you may begin. However, remember to use the chopsticks instead of your paws. If you don’t know how to use it, simply ask someone for help.”
A deluge of beef, mutton, chicken, fish balls, and meatballs slid down into the pot of bubbling soup. It was impossible to resist that tantalizing aroma as they stared wide-eyed at that mouth-watering meat. However, their soup was not the usual soup we were used to. Instead, it was made purely using chicken stock, with zero seasoning.
Dust Ball was completely indifferent to the bubbling soup. Instead, she was completely captivated by the sauce before her as she dabbed a pawful of catmint sauce on her tongue. It tasted heavenly!
By the time the meat was almost ready, Dust Ball had already collapsed on the table with a trickle of saliva running down her lips, “I can still eat… give me another bowl …I’m still awake!”
Meanwhile, a storm of chopsticks had clashed in the epicenter of the bowl. Some cats held their chopsticks by their paws while others simply resorted to their mouths. To them, grabbing a piece of meat using chopsticks was a herculean task but the succulent meat definitely made it all worthwhile.
Even though they had just enjoyed a sumptuous meal hours ago, the mental and physical turmoil inflicted on them had depleted them of all their energy. Hence, they were more than ready to eat again.
With the deflective field’s pinpoint precision, piece after piece of succulent beef simply flew towards Ares before sliding down his throat. Rakshasa, Fūjin and the rest immediately turned green with envy at the sight of it.
Suddenly, Zhao Yao’s voice reverberated throughout the table, “Ares, since you are so proficient with your power, I will entrust you with the responsibility of feeding all the cats.”
Before Ares could even refute, Zhao Yao had already pinned him down with his signature death glare. That look was enough to send shivers running down his spine as he nodded his head in agreement.
Hence, the food began to fly in all directions, to the cats’ delight.
At the same time, Elizabeth was still reminiscing about her beautiful memories in the dream world. A trickle of tear would roll down her cheeks as she opened her mouth for more incoming food.
Meanwhile, Dust Ball was already snoring on the table.
With his eyes glued to his phone, Gaia would raise his head periodically for the incoming food from Ares.
Sphynx Cat’s affectionate gaze was permanently fixed on Ares. From time to time, he would even offer a napkin and some timely reminders, “Ares, slow down. Just look at you, you have sauce splattered all over your lips.”
Matcha was also staring at someone. However, his eyes were filled with animosity. He would fix his death glare on Elizabeth for one minute before switching to Roly Poly, which was hiding in a corner.
However, Roly Poly simply responded to Matcha’s animosity with a gentle grin. When Uncle Egg offered him a piece of eat, he would simply raise his hand and refused, “Thanks, but no thanks. I prefer a vegan diet.”
The piece of juicy beef was centimeters away from Diana’s lips when her mother intercepted it with her chopsticks. She even commented, “Diana, just look at you. How do you expect to get married with that body of yours?”
However, Diana was not about to go down without a fight. With rage pouring through her body, she retorted, “A ragdoll is only cute when she is fat. Just look at Elizabeth! Everyone is so crazy over her because of her size!”
Somehow, Elizabeth had managed to eavesdrop on their conversation as she stared at her own body in disbelief. This chubby frame was obviously due to her over-puffy fur! She obviously wasn’t fat. Hence, the red glimmer flashed across her eyes as the two ragdolls smashed their heads against each other.
Meanwhile, Caesar was walking towards Ares with three wine glasses in his hand. Each glass was filled to the brim with yogurt. His eyes scanned across both Ares and Sphynx Cat before he announced in his most authoritative voice, “From now on, I will be depending on the both of you in cat nation. Ares, do not worry. I will never ever divulge your secret to others.”
Ares recalled the previous lie about his sexual orientation and could only play along with him, “Very much appreciated.”
This was still a rather rare sight. After all, opportunities like this only came once in a while. For once, they could finally air out all their grievances, without worrying about the consequences. For once, they could just forget about everything and just relax.
On this special occasion, Zhao Yao decided to ignore the complete chaos and racket created. Instead, he raised his cup in the air and announced, “I would like to wish everyone a happy new year! Cheers!”
Baiquan did not even bother to raise his head as he threw his arm in the air. Currently, his attention was all focused on the plates of meat in front of him. After all, how could he possibly build muscles without some protein?’
All the cats followed suit as they struggled to raise the cups in the air as they screamed in unison, “Cheers!”
Immediately, they began to gulp down the entire cup of delicious yogurt.
Amidst the chatters and laughter, a sudden knock caught everyone’s attention. Zhao Yao instantly rushed over and saw Yellow Mud squatting by the side of the door. He floundered with embarrassment as he presented a few rotten fruits to Zhao Yao.
Obviously, these were fruits found in the dumpster. However, Yellow Mud did make an effort to make them look slightly more presentable.
Since his first encounter with Zhao Yao, Yellow Mud had frequently visited their apartment for free meals. However, this was the first time he actually came with a gift.
Seeing the embarrassed Yellow Mud in front of him, Zhao Yao asked, “What’s the matter?”
A flush crept up his face as he replied, “The aroma coming from your house was simply too irresistible. Can I join you guys for your reunion dinner?”
“Sure.” Zhao Yao embraced him in open arms, “You can just leave your fruits on the table. Remember to shut the door. Speaking of which, the weather has gone rather chilly the past few days. If you want, you can crash at my apartment for now.”
A wide grin stretched across Yellow Mud’s face as he dashed into the apartment. He couldn’t believe his eyes when he saw the pot of sumptuous food lying in front of him.
When everyone’s head was still buried in their respective bowls, Lucifer suddenly pointed his finger towards a window and announced, “Look! Fireworks!”
Beneath the spectacular fireworks were a group of children playing happily with firecrackers.
