Chapter 1226: The Wedding (6)
It was Jun Xiqing!
She managed to use such a simple ploy to get Ah Xiao to act like a fool, using Lu Yeming to get rid of Ah Xiao. Next, she used Mo’er to stall him, sending a text message to Gu Mohan.
More than anyone else, she knew exactly who he had planted those rosary peas for. It was for Mo’er.
She knew that he was besotted for the gentleness and companionship Mo’er had provided him over the years.
She knew that only Mo’er would be able to make him lose all of his self-control.
As she was held captive in the West Palace and couldn’t plan anything else, she had staked it all on today. She really was intelligent and just this simple ploy was able to catch him by surprise.
She really played it well today.
He had fallen into her trap.
But there was something he just couldn’t figure out. Mo’er was given the strongest aphrodisiac, how did Jun Xiqing manage to help Mo’er wear off the effects?
She really had many secrets hidden away and would always surprise him.
He used to just let her off, not even settling his scores with her even when she made him suffer a gunshot. But today, she really messed with him, she had touched his bottom line.
She shouldn’t have.
Lu Yeming furrowed his brows, his eyes glinting menacingly.
Meanwhile, Gu Mohan held Tang Mo’er’s hand and took her with him. As the pair left, Lu Yeming stood upstairs, with both hands in his pockets as he watched her departing figure.
…
“Master.” Fan Men stepped forward.
Lu Yeming hadn’t turned back to look, his head low as his fingers moved nimbly to button his shirt. “Where’s Ah Da?”
“Master, Ah Da suffered from excessive bleeding and we’ve been transfusing Ah Xiao’s blood to him to keep him alive. He’s fully recovered now.”
The corners of Lu Yeming’s kicked up. “Get Ah Da to bring Jun Xiqing back.”
He then turned to leave after speaking.
…
Ye Ruge was in the West Palace and everyone was waiting for them to perform the ceremonial bows. But even after waiting for a while, West Duke still hadn’t appeared.
Everyone was speculating whether the wedding was in fact canceled.
Ye Ruge wore a red wedding robe, she looked enchanting and her maid suddenly said, “Elder Miss, what is wrong with the West Duke? Does he not intend to get married? This is too much, how dare he do this to Elder Miss!”
Ye Ruge quickly warned her, “You’re not in the position to say this. This is the West Palace, not the East Palace. Be mindful of your words, if not you’re going to get into trouble!”
“I understand.” The maid instantly shut up.
Ye Ruge then noticed a familiar figure. She quickly called him, “Fan Men.”
Fan Men paused. “Miss Ye.”
Ye Ruge wasn’t considered the West Duchess yet since they hadn’t officially gotten married.
“Where’s your master? I want to see him.”
“Miss Ye, Master is in the study room.”
…
Outside the study room, Ye Ruge lifted her hand and knocked on the door.
“Come in.”
His calm voice was heard.
Ye Ruge pushed the door open and stepped inside the room. The study room was dimly lit, Lu Yeming sat on the couch, slightly leaning back as he rested his head. He seemed a little lethargic.
Ye Ruge walked over, standing behind the couch as she started massaging his head.
Lu Yeming didn’t move, she used just the right amount of force to massage his temples and his brows slowly unknitted. As he slumped against the couch casually, he exuded a charming sexiness.
“Yeming, what’s wrong?” Ye Ruge asked.
“Nothing much, I’m not in the mood today. We can perform the bows next time,” Lu Yeming said.
Ye Ruge nodded. “Alright, but I’ll still accompany you to the Palace tomorrow. I’m going to help you obtain the Red Spider Lily to save Sister’s life.”
Lu Yeming slowly opened his eyes. It wasn’t clear whether it was because she lowered her stance to please him, or whether it was because she said ‘Sister’ that pleased him, he stretched out his arm and held her hand.
“Ruge, even if we don’t get married, my promise will never change. We’ll always be family.”
Ye Ruge stood behind him, since she was a little taller, she could see his back when she lowered her eyes. When he stretched, she could see… the Dragon Totem!
Ye Ruge retracted her hand, walking in front of him before she knelt down and greeted, “Your Highness.”
Lu Yeming supported his cheek with one hand, not having much of an expression on his face. He was calm and collected, having a king-like presence.
Knock knock. Fan Men’s voice was heard from outside. “Master, Miss Jun has been brought back.”
Jun Xiqing had been captured and brought back.
With her intelligence, she could easily hide after leaving the West Palace but Ah Da had worked for her for many years. He knew her habits and her whereabouts. Getting Ah Da to take her back was the most foolproof solution.
…
Rainfall Pavilion.
Jun Xiqing had been caught and brought back to the Rainfall Pavilion. When she turned back to look at the dark figure beside her, she was filled with disbelief. “Ah Da?”
Ah Da turned around, preparing to leave.
“Ah Da, is that really you? You’re still alive? What happened?” Jun Xiqing was perplexed.
When they were at the pier that day, she saw Ah Xiao stab Ah Da in the chest with her own eyes. He had collapsed. He had died!
At least, she had always thought that Ah Da had already died but now, Ah Da stood in front of her, alive and kicking.
Steady footsteps were heard. Lu Yeming had come with Fan Men following behind him.
“Master,” Ah Da greeted Lu Yeming and stood behind him.
Jun Xiqing’s pupils contracted, she instantly figured everything out.
So it turned out Lu Yeming had saved Ah Da’s life and made Ah Da one of his men. Not only did Ah Da survive, the officer of the Wuling Iron Steed Troop hadn’t died either!
This man really was dangerous, no one could fathom his thoughts.
Lu Yeming lifted his eyes, looking at Jun Xiqing impassively. “Leave us.”
“Yes.”
Fan Men and Ah Da stepped out, closing the room door.
…
Only the two of them were left behind in the room and Lu Yeming strode over. The corners of his lips quirked up into a sardonic smile. “You’re getting more brazen by the day, huh? Haven’t I warned you before? You shouldn’t mess with things that you are not supposed to mess with!”
Jun Xiqing staggered backward, her back knocking against the wall but she could no longer move backward. Raising her brows, she replied, “Why? Your heart aches now that Sister Mo’er has left you?”
Her vision suddenly darkened as Lu Yeming moved forward and blocked her. Her cheeks hurt, he used his fingers to quash her face.
Even as Jun Xiqing’s face contorted, she smiled. “You were the one who colluded with Lei Ze first. You ruined my country and home. Today, I’m just returning the favor by taking away your love. I need to let you experience some pain since this is the price you have to pay!”
