The few gossipy ladies had left but An’an still hadn’t gotten out of the nightmare from three years ago. Her entire body was chilly and she had even stopped breathing.
She suddenly felt some pain on her jaw. The man seemed to be speaking, “Gu An’an, were they speaking the truth? Did you really slash your wrist and try to commit suicide?”
An’an lifted her eyes and they met with Lu Yan’s. He was holding her jaw while his eyes were bloodshot, questioning her about that incident.
Quickly getting herself together, all the color had drained from her face though she replied, “It’s none of your business!”
She pushed him away and turned around to leave.
Lu Yan had been caught off guard and he jolted backwards. She walked past him and he quickly stretched out his arm to grasp her wrist. “Gu An’an!”
There was a crystal bracelet around her wrist and he only managed to hold the crystal beads in his hand. His gaze eventually landed on the crystal bracelet and he pulled it apart, revealing a deep scar underneath.
She had a scar on her wrist, though it had already been three years, the scar hadn’t lightened at all.
Her skin was smooth and delicate, without a single mark but now the scar had ruined her appearance, it just didn’t fit.
It shouldn’t have been there.
Lu Yan was well versed in weaponry and his pupils instantly dilated with horror once he saw that scar on her wrist. He could tell that she had used a sharp knife, using the tip of the knife to slash her wrist without even batting an eyelid.
Her blood vessels would have instantly ruptured and her veins cut…
Lu Yan’s veins were twitching as he clutched onto her wrist tightly. He looked at her and his voice was dark and dangerous, “Ha, Gu An’an, I’ve really underestimated you! You used to burst out into tears when I just pinched you lightly last time and now you actually dared to slash your own wrist and no longer cherish your life?”
An’an smiled bitterly. “Lu Yan, you think that you’re fit to say that? Don’t forget that you were the one who threatened to kill me at our first meeting after three years, just because of those students!”
Lu Yan’s body stiffened. An’an took the chance to hit his hand away, spinning around to run.
But she hadn’t managed to escape from him. The man had chased after her and hugged her, nuzzling his head against her hair while planting kisses on her. “I’m sorry An’an, I’m sorry…”
His mind was a total mess.
He had no idea what to do next.
He didn’t really mean those words, he hoped that she wouldn’t be offended.
He wasn’t planning to kill her, moreover, how could he bear to kill her?
“Let go of me! I won’t accept your apology!” An’an continued struggling to get him off of her.
But she wasn’t able to push him away. The man had grasped her by the waist tightly and was careful with his movements, since it was possible that she was pregnant. His hand moved upwards, holding onto her shoulder while coaxing her gently, “An’an, why are you so… silly? I’m not worthy of you doing that…”
Tears welled up in An’an’s eyes, she actually knew… that he wasn’t worthy but she just couldn’t help herself. She had fallen for him and loved him so much. When she had heard that he…
Two streams of tears trickled down her cheeks, she hated him, but she hated herself even more.
Lu Yan turned her around, holding her face affectionately as he kissed away the tears. “Why are you crying… Stop crying… It breaks my heart to see you cry…”
An’an’s tears streamed down her face endlessly after hearing his husky yet affectionate voice.
Stretching her leg out, she swiftly kicked at his right leg. His right leg was a prosthetic and once she kicked it, he instantly moved backwards to avoid her attacks.
By the time he lifted his eyes, An’an had already escaped.
Lu Yan was about to chase after her when Butler Ye suddenly appeared. “Master Yan, what happened? The doctor is here to dress your wound.”
“There’s no need for that, Butler Ye. Help me tell Uncle Jin that I have something on and will need to leave first,” Lu Yan made sure to tell Butler Ye before he left.
…
An’an said goodbye to Tang Mo’er before she stepped out of the manor. There was an FIU Jeep waiting for her outside.
After opening the door, she hopped onto the Jeep.
“An’an, unfortunately there’s an emergency recall though you’re on leave. We’ve managed to bust a few of Delia’s drug nests recently and he’s indignant about it. He’s taking revenge and a few of our counterparts have been ambushed and hospitalized because of that. We must get back to work now!” Tiantian held An’an’s arm closely.
Tiantian and An’an were the closest to each other in the FIU. Other than Tiantian, the team leader of the operation, Jiang Guo as well as a few other FIU elites were in the Jeep.
An’an smiled at Tiantian. “It’s fine, I’m on-call round the clock.”
Jiang Guo reminded An’an worriedly, “An’an, Delia is a crafty crook with brutal ways. It’s a crucial period for all of us now, be extra cautious outside and remember to take care of yourself properly.”
An’an nodded. “Yes.”
“Leader, Delia definitely wouldn’t dare behave so brazenly if the Blood Forces were still active!”
The Blood Forces.
The eyes of the other FIU members present instantly lit up at the mention of the legendary Blood Forces. They were filled with admiration for the Blood Forces as someone asked, “Leader, have you ever seen the Blood Forces in real life? Have you ever seen the commander of the Blood Forces, Blood Eagle in real life?”
Jiang Guo laughed it off. “The Blood Forces have cracked down on multiple organized criminal organizations for more than 10 years, becoming the legend in the world of the armed forces. The commander of Blood Forces, Blood Eagle, has never revealed his identity and no one has ever seen him in real life. He has influence over both the underworld and within the police force. I’ve never had the chance to meet him in real life, but I have to say that I’m also a fan of his, just like all of you!”
Blood Eagle?
An’an wasn’t a sociable person and naturally hadn’t mixed around with everyone else in the FIU. She just sat there in one corner, listening to them discuss about Blood Eagle.
Eagle…?
An’an was stunned for a moment, she stretched out her hand and placed it on her left shoulder. She had an eagle here too.
It was her eagle.
She had heard about Blood Eagle in the past three years, countless times in fact. Blood Eagle was so widely known, not only did the soldiers know him, even members of the interpol like FIU were fans of his. Blood Eagle was just like a shining beacon of light, a kind of hope. He provided light for the warriors in the front line battling their lives away to lead them forward. He provided hope for them to eventually become like him one day, to overcome the difficulties and eventually become a hero.
Blood Eagle, he was a hero.
Lu Yan’s handsome face popped up in An’an’s mind. Ugh, he was also an eagle, but why was he a triad boss, behaving so much like the scum of the earth?
“However,” Jiang Guo suddenly started behaving secretively and added, “My teacher was lucky enough to join in one of the battles alongside the Blood Forces and had taken a blurred shot of Blood Eagle from the back!”
