In the vast expanse of the Stellarsky Continent, it was said that a Soul Travel Realm martial artist will never be able to traverse the entire continent if he only walked on foot.
The whole continent was under the rule of the Empire of Azure Dragon in name; however, the Imperial family clan had been weakening for the past few decades. The six major vassal states were under the rule of the Empire on the surface, but each governed in their own way, obeying the Empire’s order in public but acted otherwise in private. The empire would have been replaced by one of the states if not for the presence of some unparalleled masters and the mutual rivalry between the six states.
The human clan of the Stellarsky Continent was the strongest, but there were definitely many other special clans and bizarre living creatures. Treacherous lands existed in the Stellarsky Continent, such as the Ice Plains which was situated at the junction between the Drifting Snow Kingdom and the Northern Liang Kingdom. There were many beasts that lived under the Ice Plains which were exceptionally fierce and dangerous. They would suddenly spring out from underground and attack the humans. There was also the Dream Sea Abyss located in the southern seas, where it was said to have two great demons lurking in the waters; they possessed unparalleled dharmic powers that even the gods could not rival.
Of course, the most famous treacherous land would have to be Mt. Thirty Thousand situated at the junction between the Divine Martial Kingdom and the Great Xia Kingdom in the South!
Mt. Thirty Thousand, as the name suggested, had thirty thousand majestic mountains. Here, there were innumerable peaks and valleys, lake and creeks, ancient trees were seen soaring towards the sky, and thorns were plunged into the ground. From the top, it posed as enchanting scenery with majestic specularity. But from within, monstrous beasts and gargantuan worms were hiding, with uncountable numbers of dragons, snakes, and wolves loitering around. It had been rumored that even gods had to stop their journey upon reaching this land—known as the Broken Forbidden Land where no one had ever ventured into its deepest and innermost area.
As compared to the worms and beasts, the most terrifying aspect of Mt. Thirty Thousand was the demonic beasts!
Demonic beasts were nothing like normal beasts; they all have bizarre and mysterious sorcery, with ferocious attacks which were extremely potent. Mt. Thirty Thousand was the place where the highest number of demonic beasts gathered in the whole of the continent. As rumors suggested, there lived a demon king with the ability of manifestation and unparalleled demonic powers; there is no way out should one enter the mountain, even for the masters of the Vajra Realm!
Mt. Spirit Beast College was located on the mountain sitting on the outermost rim of Mt. Thirty Thousand, Mt. Spirit Beast.
At the foot of Mt. Spirit Beast, there was a little town known as the Spirit Beast City. The city was originally a small town; however, with Mt. Spirit Beast College situated on the mountain—after thousands of years of development—the small town grew to become a city which had wealth that could not be matched by small cities like the Skyplume City.
Da-da-da!
At this moment, the northern gate of the city opened; and in came a luxurious horse carriage. The carriage carried a flag that was with a large ‘Ji’ word adorning it; a young and tender face with a pair of eyes full of curiosity could be seen from the window of the carriage.
“This Spirit Beast City is huge; it is much more prosperous than the Skyplume City!”
The horse carriage continued straight ahead, and Jiang Yi looked at the towering city walls, the spacious streets, the bustling crowds, the tall and tidy infrastructures, sighing silently. However, his attention was soon cut short by an incoming person, and he exclaimed out loud: “Eh… Grandfather, what is that? Why is that person riding a wolf? Is that a demonic beast? Its aura is so scary!”
Jiang Yunhai quickly looked out of the carriage’s window, towards the direction where Jiang Yi was looking at and smiled. “Young Lord, there is nothing to kick a huge fuss about. That is not a demonic beast but a tamed spirit beast! It was originally a powerful blood-sucking demonic wolf of its kind with abilities comparable to the peak of the Cast Tripod Realm.”
“Tss…”
Jiang Yi took in a deep, cold breath and looked at the Purple Mansion Realm martial artist who was riding the huge blood-red wolf in silent shock. This enormous wolf was almost two meters in length and one meter in height, enough to instill fear into people. Not to mention that this massive wolf could actually be put on par with the martial artists at the peak stage of the Cast Tripod Realm. The Purple Mansion Realm martial artist could be said to have found himself a strong helper in battles, but of course—what Jiang Yi cared was how cool it looked to ride on a wolf.
Jiang Yunhai saw that Jiang Yi’s eyes were full of envy; he shook his head and said, “Young Lord, don’t you know that Mt. Spirit Beast College is most famous for spirit beasts? Mt. Spirit Beast College is located within Mt. Thirty Thousand, and the one thing that Mt. Thirty Thousand never lacked is demonic beasts. As long as you become one of the students in the college, you will attain the secret to training and taming the spirit beasts. If you become one of the students, you can even train a beast bigger and stronger than that… for example, that one over there!”
Jiang Yunhai used his finger and pointed. Jiang Yi’s vision turned towards the direction, and his heart started thumping as he looked on, his eyes full of shock and fear.
“Pong, Pong, Pong…!”
Straight ahead of the street was a gigantic monster; it was a primate-type monster which was at least ten feet in height. Its entire body was snow white; its massive legs were even thicker than Jiang Yi’s body. Those eyes that looked like a bronze bell was filled with so much icy intent that chilled the hearts of people. On the shoulder of this primate monster was a white-robed youth who looked down upon everyone with arrogance. When the youth saw Jiang Yi staring at him with shocked eyes, he let out a smirk and seemed to be mocking Jiang Yi for being so naive, just like a farmer from the countryside.
“This gigantic primate is definitely stronger than a Purple Mansion Realm fighter, right? Why are the people within the city not afraid for this primate monster? What if it went berserk and randomly attacked anyone?”
Jiang Yi retrieved his gaze and turned to look at Jiang Yunhai. Before Jiang Yunhai could reply, Jiang Yi’s eyes were glimmering as he asked excitedly, “Grandfather, will I be able to tame such a powerful demonic beast in the future?”
“Keke, a tamed spirit beast will not hurt anyone without the orders from their tamer! This is the Spirit Beast City; the majority of the Mt. Spirit Beast College’s cadets will bring their spirit beast around this city. The residents of the city are most probably used to this kind of sights and are naturally not afraid.”
Jiang Yunhai stroked his white long bread and laughed. “Young Lord. As long as you are able to enter the college and diligently cultivate to achieve the Elite Cadet rank, you would certainly be able to tame your own spirit beast. What’s more, the stronger your strength is, the stronger the spirit beast you would be able to tame!”
“Oh, okay!”
Jiang Yi nodded non-stop. He originally didn’t have any regards for the Mt. Spirit Beast College, but he strongly desired to enter it now. If he could obtain a formidable spirit beast, he would be able to ride it and travel around different cities with ease. Jiang Yi might be rather mature for his age group, but he was after all a 16-year-old and still had the temperament of a youth.
“Wa, there is a black tiger over there!”
“En, that person is surely a cadet of the Mt. Spirit Beast College. He is riding on a beetle; this spirit beast is so ugly…”
Jiang Yi laid on the carriage and observed everything; he would let out a gasp sometimes, just like a naive kid. If the people from the Skyplume City were to see his current behavior, they would believe that Jiang Yi was never the cold-blooded devil that killed and crippled all those people on the Western Hills.
“Grandfather, I see someone familiar! It is the three mentors from the Mt. Spirit Beast College! Mentor Su and the others!”
Jiang Yi opened the curtain and pointed at three individuals who stood outside of a massive inn. Jiang Yunhai looked over and nodded. “The Mt. Spirit Beast Blood Purge is about to begin. It is expected that they would be appearing here.”
“Swish!”
Suddenly from the skies, a sonic boom could be heard due to extreme flying speed. The sound was sharp, and it attracted the attention of countless people. Jiang Yi consciously lifted his head to look, and his eyes widened.
In the sky were two winged snow-white pterippi 1 that pulled along a luxurious carriage across the sky. That carriage was forged with bronze but could float in mid-air? It looked oddly mystical and was something Jiang Yi never even heard before, like a fantasy story or a celestial being from a myth.
“Young Lord, I have told you about it. This world is filled with mystics, and now, you are just looking at the tip of the iceberg. This pterippus carriage is just a type of ancient divine war chariot; it is nothing special. There is a mystical formation array within the chariot that allows it to float in mid-air. As for those two pterippi, they are just a type of special spirit beast. They just look nice and have a feeble combat strength. Of course, this type of divine war chariots is rather rare in this continent, with about a mere few dozens of them.”
Jiang Yunhai explained to Jiang Yi while laughing. But his sights looked at the war chariot that was gradually descending onto the Spirit Beast City. He saw a dashing young gentleman seated within the chariot, and his face turned cold. Jiang Yunhai murmured to himself, “It is actually him?”
Jiang Yi clearly saw this individual, too. The youth was clad in silver battle armor, he had abnormally handsome features and extraordinary presence—that far surpassed young masters like Jiang Henshui. He jumped from mid-air and flew straight towards the three mentors of the Mt. Spirit Beast College. His eyes stared right at Mentor Su who was like an icy mountain; he let out a splendid smile and laughed while in mid-air, “Ruoxue. It has been a long time!”
“This, this person…”
Jiang Yi suddenly let go of the curtain and looked extremely uncomfortable. The hair on his entire body raised, as though he saw a lion who was a natural enemy. He looked at Jiang Yunhai with a serious expression and asked, “Grandfather, who is that person? Why do I feel so uncomfortable when I look at him? It’s like… he is destined to be my nemesis!”
“Uh?”
Jiang Yunhai’s eyes had a smear of complicated emotions and sighed after a short moment. “Young Lord. You cannot provoke this person, at least not within this period of time. Because he is the only son of the Western Garrison Liege Lord—Jiang Yiliu!”
