“F*ck! There’s a Sniper.”
“That’s it. I quit! Go down if you will!”
After the people had retreated, and as Feng Luo tried to listen, he could hear some intense yelling and even cursing from above the entrance.
Unfortunately, Feng Luo could not hear much because the distance was too far and the situation was too chaotic.
However, after letting an entire half a minute pass, surprisingly, no one came down.
All the lighting tools had suddenly vanished. It was as if the opponent was afraid and had already given up on the idea of coming down.
“Something’s not right. I think they’re scheming,” Feng Luo speculated in a low voice, his mind thinking rapidly. “Everyone, be on your guard.”
Previously, some people were too arrogant and wanted to attack right away, lacking foresight. Watermelon Skin, along with three others, had entered via Underground totally unprepared, and so the four of them were killed in just the first round of attack.
But this did not mean that there was no other way to enter. It was because they had a limited supply of firepower—they were able to kill Gunners and Manipulators with one shot, but it was impossible to kill Warriors that way.
If the opponent deployed 10 Heavy Armored Warriors, they would be able to handle the situation—it was not like there was really no way.
“Mu Zi, throw a light stick over here!” Feng Luo instructed, his eyes brightened up.
In order for them to prevent exposing their location at that moment, they had to put off all of their lighting tools, which left the passageway in total darkness.
Even with his sharp eyesight, he couldn’t see anything.
“Sou!”
Hearing this, Mu Zi instantly fished out a light stick from his backpack, stood up, and threw it at Feng Luo.
Thud, thud…
The light stick hit a wall and the place started to light up. Then it fell onto the ground and sprung a few meters before illuminating the surrounding area.
As the light stick had finally landed at a spot, a small black object above the passageway simultaneously rolled along with it. The two objects crashed into each other.
“Close your eyes!” Feng Luo yelled as soon as he saw the collision. He then turned his head swiftly and shielded it with his arm.
“Uh?” Azure uttered, completely clueless, while Watermelon Skin and the rest were slow in their reactions.
Subsequently, they realized the reason behind Feng Luo’s sudden warning.
The initially dark underground passageway had suddenly turned a hundred times brighter than day.
A flash grenade!
The Freedom Flag players had sneakily tossed in a flash grenade! Had Feng Luo not felt that something was off and asked Mu Zi to throw him a light stick, they would all have fallen into the trap.
In the dark environment of the Underground passageway, the effect of a flashbang was undoubtedly potent, especially when its strength was definitely far from low.
Their position was 40 to 50 meters from the passageway entrance, but the light was nonetheless too strong that it could make people become disoriented, as well as squint and tear.
The “aiya” cries from Watermelon Skin, Dai, and the few others revealed that despite the fact that Feng Luo had already reminded them earlier, they paid no heed and had still fallen into the trap.
Boom!
The group was forcefully attacked as soon as the flash grenade exploded.
Then 10 people came charging from across the passageway entrance following this sudden attack.
A line of Heavy Armored Warriors with shields stood at the frontline, while a team of Scout players armed with submachine guns muster at the back. The lighting tools in their hands quickly lit up the dark passageway. Their gun muzzles pointed straight at where Feng Luo and the others were standing, still reeling from the explosion.
Ping!
“-12344!”
However, when they revealed themselves, a Scout player who was behind a Heavy Armored Warrior’s shield, but was not quite in sync with his teammates, had exposed a critical point on his chest. Because of this, he was unable to fire rounds from his submachine gun. He was then hit by a Sniper’s bullet in his chest, sending him flying straight out.
Da, da, da…
“Be careful! It’s that Sniper from just now. He isn’t blinded,” the Scout player shouted in dismay.
But he had only spoken halfway when he was hit in the face by an incoming stream of submachine gun bullets and a Sniper rifle’s bullet.
Feng Luo was not the only one who had not fallen into the trap. On many occasions, Feng Luo had reminded Mu Zi and Dan Hen—these two players who had grown as soldiers—on what to do when faced with situations like this. So they had also instantly turned away, closed their eyes, and covered their heads. This prevented them from going into a “stunned” state by the flashbang explosion, thus retaining their combat power.
Ping!
“-3460!”
Besides, Skynet also fired a shot and defeated this Scout.
Da, da, da…
However, even though they had killed two Scouts, the opponent’s battle tactics were still a success.
The remaining eight Scouts were completely hidden behind the Heavy Armored Warriors’ shields, sticking out the muzzles of their submachine guns from the gaps between the Alloy Shields and firing at will in the direction of Feng Luo and the others.
Eight submachine guns firing at once formed a bullet wave, which created tremendous damage as compared to the six-barreled machine gun.
If it was not for the fact that Feng Luo and the others were positioned at a bend—giving them enough cover, without a doubt—they would definitely have been reduced to nothing.
Even so, some stray bullets had bounced off from the ceiling or walls and hit them, causing injury to some.
Feng Luo did not expect that every Heavy Armored Warrior in this team actually had a lighting tool, aiming the glare straight at their eyes.
Whenever they stuck their heads out, the rapidly swinging glare by the lighting tool made them unable to counterattack and aim at the enemy, let alone allow them to continue to focus their firepower and kill people at one shot like before.
“Trouble!”
Feng Luo and Dan Hen exchanged worried glances as they struggle to remain hidden.
The current enemy was very different from the Wolves and Golden Scorpion before, or as diverse as the first bunch of people who had come down. They obviously possessed team PK battle experience and had someone leading the team.
Such a team was hard to take on.
The enemy’s succeeding moves proved this point.
The Heavy Armored Warriors advanced forcefully straight towards them with their shields arranged in a line.
However, the four Scout players slowed down their attack speed, but amidst the duel, they continued to fire at full power, ensuring their continuous firepower control.
Behind these two groups, some Manipulators in Energy Forcefields charged out, with all of the Energy Converters in their hands all getting ready to light up.
Luckily, by this time, the rest of the people who were stunned by the flash grenade were already recovered and able to see quite clearly.
All the players’ bodies are implanted with Biochip, thus capable of healing each organ.
As such, the flashbang’s effect had waned faster—unlike under normal circumstances where the effect would have lasted longer—creating a smaller impact on their combat power.
Moreover, as almost all the professions had helmets or lenses—Manipulators had data lenses too, while others had some specially set features—flash grenades were unable to unleash their optimum effect.
This was also one of the reasons why flash grenades were not considered rare as of the moment, but this type of battle tactic had not become the Gunners’ trend either.
When the opponent Manipulators appeared, Feng Luo immediately yelled, “Retreat! Ion, firewall!”
At the same time, he took out two small objects from his tactical vest and held them in his hand.
The retreat was inevitable. Not only due to the advancing people in the passageway, but also because according to the structure map, this was not the only place in the military base that could give access to the Underground City.
Perhaps these people had only just discovered this entrance and would swiftly be able to find other places. If they became surrounded by the enemies in all directions, with just over 10 of them, they clearly would not survive. They did not have the ability to take on a few hundreds of the Freedom Flag people on a head-on battle.
Besides, the opponent actually had such elite players that had team PK experience.
This battle to delay time was probably going to be extremely challenging.
