The scorching sun’s thousand rays illuminated Zhengming Continent’s massive expanse of empty land.
Due to the large amount of snow, many people didn’t remember what season it was now.
On this long path from Zhengming Continent to the Northern Territory, the long line of people swept up dust that pervaded the air.
The dust gave off a jittery feeling under the sunlight as they obstructed one’s vision and forced people to take careful breaths.
“We’ve entered Northern Territory Border Kingdom.” a New Moon Palace army commander loudly spoke to the migrating group that was lined up like a long dragon.
These people had been the first ones to migrate and they were riding on very fast mounts.
Some emperor and dominator rank creatures had a body several hundred or a thousand meters large. These large creatures would be able to carry tens of thousands of people. Sitting on top of them was like riding on a moving piece of land.
Northern Territory used to be a soul pet world. It was filled with dangerous forests and mountain ranges. However, after several years of purging these dangers, it gradually became a place suitable for human habitation. It was also possible to often see people from other border kingdoms coming here search for treasures and to capture soul pets.
The first group of people was about 3 million people. These 3 million people were mainly composed of builders and those that elevated the livelihood of society. They would build and improve Northern Territory so that future people who migrated here would have a better place to live.
“I see a city. Is that Northern Territory’s main city? It looks enormous?” said a person standing on the Mountain Abyss Beast.
The Mountain Abyss Beast was a soul pet over a thousand meters large. The migraters had set up tents on its back, making it seem like an island.
However, when they saw Northern Territory’s main city, joyous smiles appeared on their faces. They quickly packed up the things inside their tents and prepared to enter the city.
The midday sunlight shone down from high above, illuminating Northern Territory’s main city.
The main city was mainly of a white color while its city walls were a light blue. The unending city walls stretched from this side of the horizon to the other side. It was impossible to see where the city wall ended. This opened the eyes of many people who had never ventured out of New Moon Land before. It was several times larger than Wanxiang City’s city walls.
These people knew that New Moon Land had another territory, and that it was located on Zhengming Continent’s northern extreme. However, they had never expected for the city in this territory to be so grand and majestic. These people who were initially exhausted and dispirited from the migration gradually began to lighten up when they saw this city.
Suddenly, a shadow began to envelop the horizon.
The shadow was enormous and covered the sky.
All of the migraters were able to see that darkness was swallowing up the other side of the city, gradually devouring the city initially emerged in sunlight.
Soon, the terrifying darkness, spread over to the 3 million migrators that were lined up like a long dragon. As they witnessed this frightening scene, they descended into terror.
The darkness was extremely thick. When it arrived, they were all caught unprepared. It felt as if the cloak from the god of death was covering them over.
Everyone stood there, stunned, and watched the darkness quickly devour the bright and beautiful world of sunlight.
The solar eclipse that happened once every 50 years!!
It was as a solar eclipse!
If one were to look up, it was possible to see a dark outline appear on the sun and gradually expand, swallowing up the sun bit by bit.
As the sun was devoured, the vast expanse of land was ruled by darkness. It was so dark that one could not see his finger!
In the thick darkness, nobody could see anyone else. Even the firelight from fire types oil pets were unable to expel the solar eclipse’s primordial darkness.
……
New Moon Land, Wanxiang City.
The city had mysteriously become bleak. The streets were filled with dust, the palaces were empty, and the plazas were silent.
Therefore, when the darkness began to slowly swallow up the light in the city, nothing seemed particularly sudden.
Chu Mu sat on a sculpture on Nightmare Palace’s roof. When darkness arrived, he lifted his head and looked unmovingly at the fiery red sun being slowly devoured.
A clear splotch of black appeared on the sun. Initially, only the edges of the sun had been bitten off. But gradually, the darkness became an arch door that slowly closed.
The solar eclipse…
The solar eclipse had ultimately arrived.
A mysterious and indescribable complex feeling filled Chu Mu’s heart.
The devil that had instilled the human world with incomparable fear and had even had the western territory willingly conceded to it was about to awaken. It had entered its sleep under New Moon Land.
The first thing it would see when it awoke would be New Moon Land.
If it was insane, and saw that there were human cities all over the earth, it would probably crush all of the cities in an instant into dust.
It wouldn’t be long before Chu Mu would be able to see a vast body of water that swallowed up the piece of land he was standing on. Then, there would be countless evil creatures wreaking wanton havoc and destroying everything New Moon land’s people had spent thousands of years building.
……
“Chu Mu.” Princess Jinrou sat beside Chu Mu and called out to him.
She seemed to have discovered something. The expression on her face was of slight astonishment and it took a while before she came back to her senses.
“What’s the matter?” asked Chu Mu.
“I calculated it. This day and that day are the same,” said Bai Jinrou.
“Which day?” Chu Mu didn’t understand what she was saying.
“It’s the day Yu Suo told me about. Only on that day can you see Heaven Palace’s existence by standing in Myriad Heaven Dragon Abyss and looking up,” said Bai Jinrou.
“Are you certain it’s the same day?” Chu Mu was stunned.
Princess Jinrou seriously shook her head.
If the day of the solar eclipse was the same day it was possible to see Heaven Palace’s projection, this definitely wasn’t a coincidence.
Perhaps when Yu Suo had brought him to see the projection, she was secretly telling Chu Mu a very important piece of information!
“Let’s fly over and see.” Chu Mu pulled Princess Jinrou’s hand and flew straight into the sky.
Only by flying to the highest point in the sky could they see the true appearance of the solar eclipse.
Chu Mu and Princess Jinrou left the ground and flew into the clouds.
After passing through the clouds, they passed through the dark and cold second layer of the sky and continued onto the third layer of the sky’s bright and starry world.
The solar eclipse was still ongoing. After swallowing the human territory, the darkness continued to expand into the Ocean species’ Eternal Ocean and the Demon species’ land.
As the two of them flew higher, many stars and meteors would appear around them. They were lying still in the dark and starry sky, beautifully streaking past them or orbiting according to a certain path.
Chu Mu and Princess Jinrou passed through the scattered mass of stars and meteor sand flew towards the scorching sun.
The sun was very, very far away from them. Chu Mu and Princess Jinrou had to find a place where their vision wasn’t being obstructed to clearly see the sun. This way, they would finally be able to determine if their guess was right.
“Chu Mu, come here!” Princess Jinrou found an angle where their vision wouldn’t be obstructed by the stars. They would be able to see the sun from there!
Chu Mu landed on an enormous meteor.
When looking at the distant sun from the third layer of the sky, the sun was comparatively enormous. It felt as if one’s entire field of view was occupied by the burning ball of fire.
Sunlight came from the distance, landing on Chu Mu and Princess Jinrou with a pure heat.
Originally, many scholars believed that a solar eclipse happened because the sun temporarily stopped burning.
A sun that wasn’t burning naturally could not emit light and light was the energy source of all living things and the land. Without this energy source, living things would die out.
Currently, as Chu Mu stood in the third layer of the sky and stared at the sun, he was confident that this theory by the scholars was wrong.
The sun was still burning. It hadn’t stopped for a second. Chu Mu and Princess Jinrou could clearly feel the fiery light.
However, whey hadn’t the light reached the human land? Why had the land suddenly become dark??
Neither Chu Mu nor Princess Jinrou said anything. They knew that the cause of the solar eclipse would soon be revealed before their eyes.
The most majestic thing in the sky was the sun. it represented the source of all living things. All life forces had been given life because of its burning.
It was an enormous burning object in the sky that had been burning for an unknown period of time. When its light arrived in the world and to the people, it granted the world and the people energy. This was why there were various spirit items, xuan items, immortal items and elemental world soul pets.
Elements were innately forms of energy and elemental world soul pets had been born from this energy.
After there were elemental world creatures, plant world creatures that understood how to absorb this energy and transform it into nutrients were born. They changed the environment of the world and provided an environment where demon beast world soul pets could live.
And with demon beast world soul pets, there would be death. With death, there would be departed spirits and thus departed spirits were born.
Elements, plants, demon beasts, and departed spirits. These formed the complete soul pet world.
And all of this originated from the sun that endlessly burned.
In the past, humans had thought that the solar eclipse – the cause of exhaustion, sickness, and death of all creatures – was because the sun had temporarily stopped burning.
However, in reality, the sun was still burning during the solar eclipse. It never stopped.
This meant that there was something stealing the energy source of all creatures…
……
Finally, the thing Chu Mu and Bai Jinrou were waiting for, appeared!
Under the sun’s scorching flames, it ascended into the sky. It was slowly spinning around as it blocked, absorbed, and stole the energy that the sun was providing for all creatures!
As it watched the aerial territory slowly spin around under the scorching sun, Chu Mu and Princess Jinrou looked at each other with astonishment.
It was indeed it!
When they first stepped into Heaven Palace, Princess Jinrou had been astonished why the disk-like Heaven Palace hung vertically.
Now she understood.
When Heaven Palace’s territory flipped onto its side so that it was parallel to the sun, the sun would be blocked!
All of the sunlight and energy would be stolen by the twelve great formations, and thirty-six small formations. None of it would reach the human world…
This was the solar eclipse that occurred once every 50 years!!!
In other words, it was Heaven Palace controlling and ruling over the world’s laws of survival and laws of life!
