A beam of flowing light barged into Yingyun City from outside. Hordes of other flowing light flew up to intercept that one beam of flowing light. However, one and all they failed to hold back the golden flowing light.
“Stop right here, my friend,” a cold and stern voice rang out.
Shortly after, a beam of blue light shot up to the sky. That flowing light was incomparably quick like thunder and lighting, and it was barely slower than that golden flowing light. Because of his position, he intercepted the other halfway and intercepted the golden light easily on the only road it passed.
Within the blue light was a middle-aged man who had a stern look on his face, solemn and dignified like someone who had been leading for a long time.
This was none other than the Muhong City Mayor, a cultivator at the Supreme Profundity Realm.
The golden flowing light paid no mind to the Muhong City Mayor’s words at all. It twisted skilfully, attempting to circle round the Muhong City Mayor and barging into Yingyun City.
“Hm, seems like you want to do this the hard way,” the Muhong City Mayor huffed coldly.
With a flip of his palm, a gray alms bowl appeared in his hand. He formed a magical seal in his hand, then the gray alms bowl abruptly flew into the sky and ceaselessly expanded. In an instant, it had grown to become hundreds of miles big, as if it could contain an entire mountain.
The gray alms bowl was not an ordinary item—it exuded a sort of spatial energy. Though the alms was not big apparently, it could contain multitudes. The space in a thousand-mile radius seemed to be immediately fixed when the alms bowl loomed over, and wisps of gray air current flew out ceaselessly from it before it swirled around the golden flowing light.
That golden flowing light, when encompassed within the gray air current, instantly slowed down, as if it was held in place by a bout of space power.
“Demonic Alms Bowl!”
The Huai Clan’s second young mistress huffed in shock. With a stern look on her face, she said:”Be careful. That’s the Demonic Alms Bowl, an earth spiritual treasure, which is not any less famous than Yingyun City’s Sishui Spirit Imprint.”
She never expected that the Muhong City Mayor came out with the Demonic Alms Bowl right from the beginning. Since this item had an extraordinary strength, the general Supreme Profundity Realm cultivator would find it troublesome to deal with when they met with it.
“Spatial energy accumulation.”
Shock flashed in Mo Wen’s eyes. Treasures that could accumulate spatial energy were extremely rare, and meanwhile they were usually of high ranks, like his Junior Master’s Pagoda. The ability to form its own space and even alter time making it a rather high-end, top-tier space-time treasure. Space-time treasures at the earth treasure tier were rare indeed.
If a regular cultivator came across a treasure containing such spatial energy like this, they would probably struggle to handle it, but with a sneer, Mo Wen flipped his hand, and then a tiny pagoda made of white jade appeared in his hand. That small pagoda was intricate beyond compare with an antique and vintage feel to it. It gave off an ancient and resplendent aura—this was the Junior Master’s Pagoda.
The appearance of the Junior Master’s Pagoda triggered a series of wave-like ripples, and everywhere the water ripples passed caused the spatial energy that had restrained the surrounding area to disappear bit by bit.
The golden flowing light returned to normal once more, then continued flying forth.
“How could this be?!”
The Muhong City Mayor was astounded and he stared at the golden light in disbelief. His Demonic Alms Bowl had actually failed, and had been soundlessly unravelled by the other. How could that be? This was the strongest of his spiritual treasures, and not even the Supreme Profundity Realm cultivators who were of the same rank as him could deal with this so easily.
Just what was that white jade pagoda, and how could it so easily destroy the restrain of the Demonic Alms Bowl? Was it also a space-type treasure?
the Muhong City Mayor was shocked by the pagoda, and soon greed was written in his eyes. Space-type treasures were few and far between and any single one of those was a rare treasure. Besides, that white jade pagoda could restrain the Demonic Alms Bowl, so it was possible that the pagoda was of a higher rank than his Demonic Alms Bowl.
“Stay here!” the Muhong City Mayor called out coldly.
A blue light chased after the golden flowing light in a flash. At the same time, a dark black sword appeared in his hand. The long sword was five feet and three inches long and it gave off a dark and gloomy aura, as if it was not a sword by a demon hidden in a scabbard.
On the city wall, an elegant figure appeared. This was Yingyun City’s first young mistress Huai Hongxiu, and she could recognize with just one glance that the figure hidden in the golden light was her own sister, Huai Xiaoru. As for the other young man dressed in white robes, she was not too sure who he was and, in that moment, she did not know where he was from either.
“Just what was going on? Why was Xiaoru back? And why she is storming Yingyun City now?” Rage and shock alike flashed across Huai Hongxiu’s eyes. She had gone through all that trouble to have her own sister escorted out and barely a day had passed, so why was she already running back?
“First young mistress, I’m afraid it was the second young mistress who wanted to return,” a high-level Yingyun City cultivator chucked bitterly. A lot of the older cultivators in Yingyun City had watched the second young mistress as she grew, so they knew her temper really well.
“That’s ridiculous!” Huai Hongxiu’s face was flush with anger. Her sister was acting so ridiculously, could she not just spare a thought for someone else?
“What should we do now, first young mistress? Do we leave the camp to save the second young mistress?” one of the older Yingyun City cultivators asked anxiously. There were a lot of Muhong City cultivators who were blocking the way outside, and now the Muhong City Mayor had even stepped forth himself. If they did not intervene, there was no doubt that the second young mistress would die.
The other higher-ups of Yingyun City were equally stumped. The second young mistress was right outside the city walls now, so were they to save her or not?
The reason why Yingyun City can be able to survive now is relying on the stratagems and prohibitions that Wise Man Huai Guang had fixed up back then. Those stratagems and prohibitions had taken shape through ceaseless reinforcement and upgrading for hundreds and thousands of years, so their power was rather terrifying, and even a Supreme Profundity Realm cultivator would not dare to recklessly barge through.
This was also why the Muhong City Mayor had put off attacking Yingyun City for a long time even though he had been eyeing it.
Those stratagems and prohibitions posed a huge obstacle to even the Muhong City Mayor, so he had no choice but to carefully plan his next moves before he could take on the city.
Of course, the stratagems and prohibitions were static, but humans were dynamic. Relying on the prohibition was not a long-term plan, and Yingyun City would sooner or later be brought to its knees by the Muhong City Mayor. This was why the Huai Clan first young mistress tried to find another way around things and had a portion of the younger people from the Huai Clan sent out.
“Why are you even asking? Of course we should head out to save the second young mistress,” an old cultivator said hurriedly, misgivings swimming in his eyes.
A lot of the Yingyun City higher-ups nodded and agreed that they should rescue the second young mistress, but more of them kept silent and refused to say anything.
Going out of the city to save the second young mistress was the same as losing the protection of Yingyun City’s stratagems and prohibitions, and they would likely fall in one fell swoop when they went up against the horde of strong Muhong City cultivators. Not everyone of them had deep feeling for the second young mistress, so some people was naturally unwilling to risk such dangers to head out of the city and save her.
What’s more, the second young mistress was running back even after she had escaped. What was this if not courting death?
The Huai Clan first young mistress who had kept silent had her brows furrowed. She cast her gaze out at the golden light far from the city and, after a long while, she finally said dispassionately, “Declare martial law. No one other than me is allowed to leave the city.”
The moment she said that, everyone in Yingyun City understood that the first young mistress was intending to personally rescue the second young mistress. In an instant, everyone blanched.
“First young mistress, you should not do that certainly. You can’t leave the city, please leave this to me instead. I promise that I’ll be sure to bring the second young mistress back safe and sound.” an old cultivator immediately intervened.
The first young mistress was now the backbone of the entire Yingyun City, and anyone was dispensable except for her. If anything happened to her, the city would fall immediately.
Everyone in Yingyun City knew that the city would only be able to hold up against Muhong City’s attacks if the first young mistress was there and, even then, they were only barely hanging on. Without her, they stood no chance at all.
At such a time, no one was willing to have the first young mistress risk her life like this. Not only was the Muhong City Mayor there outside the city, there were also hundreds of high-ranking cultivators from the city. Having the first young mistress step out now was as good as having her walk right into the trap herself.
“I’ve made up my mind.” Huai Hongxiu’s face was cold and stoic. With the spiritual light glinted on her body, she intended to fly out of the city. She had but one younger sister, so there was absolutely no way for her to just watch her sister be killed in front of her eyes.
“Please wait, first young mistress, perhaps the situation is not as dire as we’ve imagined it to be.”
Suddenly, an old person stood in front of Huai Hongxiu, blocking her way. This person was currently the oldest person in Yingyun City. He was a cultivator with a great attainment of the Tide Changing Realm who was barely a step away from breaking through to the Supreme Profundity Realm, and he had been from the same era as Wise Man Huai Guang. But it was a pity that the immortal cultivation was a tedious journey, and he had been stuck at this one step for thousands of years. It was unlikely he would be able to break through to the Supreme Profundity Realm in this life, and nothing short of a miracle would change that fact.
The prestige of the old man was rather high in Yingyun City, since he had spent several thousand years in the city, and even Huai Hongxiu held him in high respect.
Seeing him standing in her way, Huai Hongxiu still stopped though she was very anxious.
“Elder Xue…” Huai Hongxiu looked at the old man, confused. Reasonably speaking, there was no way that Elder Xue would not know that she was absolutely going to save her sister, so there was no point for him to be in her way.
“First young mistress, that golden light is tricky. Perhaps he doesn’t even need our help to be rescued, and I think that even the Muhong City Mayor will not be able to stop him.”
Elder Xue looked at the beam of golden light outside the city, his gaze profound. Perhaps his cultivation was not as good as the Muhong City Mayor’s, but his experience was not something to scoff at.
“Even the Muhong City Mayor can’t stop him?”
“Did Elder Xue mean that beam of golden light can successfully barge into Yingyun City?”
“How can that be!”
…
Everyone was visibly in disbelief when they heard what the old man said. How could that be?! There were hundreds of high-level Muhong City cultivators outside and the mayor was there as well; there was even an army that Muhong City had stationed outside the city. There were so many people out there, so how was it possible that they could not stop that beam of golden light?
The first young mistress was shocked when she heard it. She immediately looked to that golden beam of flowing light again. Right at this time, that golden flowing light had broken past the obstacle that was the Demonic Alms Bowl and continued to fly forward.
“Why don’t you continue to observe the situation for now, first young mistress? At least it’s still not the most dangerous point yet,” Elder Xue suggested. Although he was speaking with the first young mistress now, his gaze was still fixed on the golden flowing light outside the city.
Huai Hongxiu was silent, but she no longer seemed intent on leaving the city immediately.
Outside the city, the Muhong City Mayor was equal parts shocked and angry. He had not expected for the golden light to have broken past the restraints of the Demonic Alms Bowl, and he chased with all his might to prevent it from barging into Yingyun City.
“You look down on me too much, my friend. Now die.”
Rage was already simmering in the Muhong City Mayor’s chest. He was not willing to stop the golden light but actually wanted to kill it directly. His own Crimson Blood Demonic Flag was still with that person, and he was also rather interested in the treasure that had broken past his own Demonic Alms Bowl, so there was no way he could let that man go.
His demonic sword cut through the air. Before long, an endless stream of sword rain poured down. The rain of swords were extraordinary; the regular Tide Changing Realm cultivator would probably be killed by sword rain. Hundreds and thousands of swords poured down mercilessly and it made for quite the spectacle. The Vital Qi in the heaven and earth in a ten thousand mile radius was triggered and the space quaked unendingly, as if it would collapse at any time because of the sword rain.
The Heaven and Earth would change if a Supreme Profundity Realm cultivator made his move, and this was something a Tide Changing Realm cultivator could not rival.
In the Yingyun City watchtower, awe and veneration filled the eyes of all the cultivators. A Supreme Profundity Realm cultivator was just too powerful. They existed as a watershed on the Path of Immortal Cultivation, and so the gap between a Tide Changing Realm cultivator and a Supreme Profundity Realm cultivator was simply too immense. It was like the distance between the skies and the earth.
Huai Hongxiu’s fists were clenched tightly and her palms were sweaty. Right in the center of the sword rain was her sister, and she wanted nothing more than to take her place and bear with the terrifying sword rain.
The two sisters of the Huai Clan were extremely close, so this was why the Huai Clan’s second young mistress insisted on returning to her sister even if she knew she was basically running to her death.
From within the golden flowing light, Mo Wen slowly raised his hand. A beam of gold and black dual Qi spun out from his hand. In the next moment, a gigantic illusory Tai Chi Diagram that covered anything within a thousand-mile radius appeared in the air. When that diagram appeared, the power of the Heaven and Earth seemed like it had been agitated by a strange undercurrent. The sword rain that had been pouring down started slowing, until it finally suspended in mid-air and calmed.
That made for quite the marvellous scene. It was much like watching a shooting star, and time seemed to have stopped.
The golden flowing light, however, was not affected by time stopping. It flew forward as it always had.
“Yin Yang type remarkable power, Tai Chi Purple Light, Yin Yang Qi!”
The Muhong City Mayor sucked in a ccold breath. The experience of a Supreme Profundity Realm cultivator was unrivalled, so he could tell with just one glance that the Tai Chi Diagram remarkable power was a Yin Yang type remarkable power. On top of that, the person who had cultivated this remarkable power had also cultivated Yin Yang Qi, and had even managed to cultivate the Tai Chi Purple Light.
The Tai Chi Purple Light was something of the legends, and cultivators who had the Tai Chi Purple Light were practically favorites of the Yin Yang type Heavenly Paths in the Heaven and Earth. With it, cultivating an Yin Yang type remarkable power would be much more efficient and formidable.
The Muhong City Mayor could already tell that the cultivator in the golden light was only a Tide Changing Realm cultivator, and his cultivation had not even reached the great attainment of the Tide Changing Realm yet, so he was probably only at the Tide Changing Realm later stage at best. However, when the person triggered his remarkable power, he actually managed to suspend his sword rain. That was a formidable power that had long surpassed the scope of the Tide Changing Realm.
Everyone knew that the Tai Chi Purple Light was mysterious and mystical. Someone who possessed the Tai Chi Purple Light would trigger a powerful Yin Yang type remarkable power, but there was no way it would be this powerful, right? The scene right in front of the Muhong City Mayor’s eyes now had basically refreshed his knowledge. To think a Tide Changing Realm cultivator could resist a Supreme Profundity Realm’s attack so easily!
At this time, Mo Wen’s distance from Yingyun City was approaching 100 miles. To a cultivator of this rank, he could basically fly into Yingyun City in a split second.
“Hm, Sorcerer Soul Warhammer. So what if you’re unique? Even if you can rival Supreme Profundity Realm cultivators on some areas, a Supreme Profundity Realm cultivator is still a Supreme Profundity Realm cultivator, and a Tide Changing Realm cultivator is still a Tide Changing Realm cultivator.”
The Muhong City Mayor was a little vexed. No matter how you spun it, he was still the mayor of Muhong City and a powerful cultivator at the Supreme Profundity Realm. And yet here he was, losing in the hand of a measly Tide Changing Realm cultivator. If word got out, his reputation would be torn to shreds. Besides, there was no way he could allow this person entry into Yingyun City.
A strange, black light glowed in the Muhong City Mayor’s eyes. That black light was evil and unfathomable, as if an innumerable amount of wronged souls were dancing within. The entire Heaven and Earth also seemed to have dimmed and formless ghostly gales wreaked havoc in the surrounding space.
The Sorcerer Soul Warhammer was a Primordial Soul type secret technique—a 100% powerful attack type Primordial Soul secret technique, at that. If used against somebody whose Primordial Soul was too weak, it was possible to completely wipe out his Primordial Soul.
Even if a Tide Changing Realm cultivator had managed to cultivate an extraordinary strength, there was no way that his Primordial Soul could rival that of a Supreme Profundity Realm cultivator. As the watershed on the Path of Immortal Cultivation, the two of them were simply too far apart. He refused to believe that the person’s Primordial Soul was also strong enough to almost be at the Supreme Profundity Realm. As long as that person’s Primordial Soul was at the Tide Changing Realm level, then he was fully confident that he could heavily damage that person’s Primordial Soul—kill him, even.
“Sorcerer Soul Warhammer.” Everyone in the Yingyun City watchtower paled all of a sudden because they knew just how terrifying the Sorcerer Soul Warhammer was.
