The truth of the matter quickly spread throughout the Peng Lai Immortal Realm, which was something the Sword Valley naturally did not want to happen. After all, it was humiliating that their leader had fumbled a simple task in somewhere as insignificant as the Green Ancient Mystery Dimension. He had suffered such detrimental losses and had ended up being sentenced to one thousand years of confinement by Nie Wuxin.
To the Sword Valley, they were basically laying themselves open to ridicule, and people would probably still be laughing at them a hundred years from now. As long as their valley leader Old Man Xuan You was confined, they would be mocked.
Even if the Sword Valley did not want the news to spread, everyone else wanted that. There would always be people who wanted to watch the world burn, after all. Besides, the Sword Valley was not the only sect who had cultivators in the Green Ancient Mystery Dimension previously, so there were a lot of sects whose people knew about the matter.
The second palace lord of the Huatian Palace, Nie Wuxin, appeared in a tiny little mystery dimension—going as far as to cultivate there for a hundred years—just so she could protect a cultivator and sect in the main space. Such news had caused quite the stir in the Peng Lai Immortal Realm these days, and a lot of people were guessing what kind of person was able to make Nie Wuxin protect them herself.
There were a lot of people who liked watching a drama unfold, there were a lot of people who loved gossip, and there were people who enjoyed it as much as there were people who were fretting over it.
Some sects in the Peng Lai Immortal Realm were not in the mood to join in the fun and gossip.
“Is Nie Wuxin really going to cultivate in the Green Ancient Mystery Dimension for a hundred years? Is this information true?”
A tall, middle-aged man stood in the main hall of the Sinister Wind Sect with a crowd of people standing beneath him respectfully. He was the leader of the Sinister Wind Sect and a terrifying cultivator at the Supreme Profundity Realm later stage, and he was stronger than Old Man Xuan You.
On the surface, the leader of the Sinister Wind Sect was only a middle-aged man, but a lot of people knew he was an old monster who had been alive for a very long time. He was the Glorious Heretic Lord and he was far older than Old Man Xuan You, but he had cultivated a certain heretic technique that had the effect of retaining his youthful looks, so he looked like he was only a middle-aged man.
Speaking of the Glorious Heretic Lord, few cultivators in the Peng Lai Immortal Realm did not know how terrifying of a figure he was. His name was known further and wider than Old Man Xuan You’s was, and rumor had it that the person had dabbled in heretic ways so that he was on par with a mighty cultivator who had great attainment of the Supreme Profundity.
The Glorious Heretic Lord was a large reason why the Sinister Wind Sect enjoyed a high standing within the Peng Lai Immortal Realm.
“This is definitely true, Your Highness. When I was undercover in Intentionless City, Nie Wuxin came in from the west and declared that she would be cultivating in privacy for a hundred years in the Green Ancient Mystery Dimension. Plus, she really went into one of the large mountains near the Intentionless City at the end of it,” an elder dressed in grey robes said respectfully.
He looked at the Glorious Heretic Lord with a gaze filled with respect and fear, as if he were looking at a god. He was just an insignificant cultivator at the Primordial Soul Realm, so he would not even have had the opportunity to meet the man if not for what had happened in Intentionless City.
“Your Highness, we’ve been thinking if the Huatian Palace was intentionally shielding Mo Wen for quite some time, and it’s probably true. It’s just that things are a little more complicated now since Nie Wuxin had personally stepped forward,” an elder with a head full of white hair said, a frown on his face. He was a Sect Grand Elder in the Sinister Wind Sect and a Supreme Profundity preliminary stage cultivator.
The Sinister Wind Sect had far more sturdy foundations than the Sword Valley did, and they were a bona fide elite sect in the Peng Lai Immortal Realm who housed quite a few Supreme Profundity Realm cultivators.
“Besides, we cannot underestimate the Green Ancient Mystery Dimension. It seems like there are quite a few cultivators there who are above average, and they were able to back Old Man Xuan You into a corner such that he was forced to trigger a forbidden technique,” another Sect Grand Elder of the Sinister Wind Sect said, concern clear as day on his face.
Even without Nie Wuxin, the Green Ancient Mystery Dimension was not to be underestimated.
Initially, everyone had thought that the insignificant Green Ancient Mystery Dimension could easily be dealt with by just sending a few of the disciples from the sect. These higher-ups had not paid much attention to it at that time, and they were more concerned with whether Mo Wen was dead and whether the Sacred Fire Sword could be retrieved.
“Your Highness, although there are quite a few extraordinary cultivators there, it’s not enough for us to be afraid. But Nie Wuxin…” said an elder sitting near him.
The elder was second in rank only to the Glorious Heretic Lord and he was the Deputy Sect Leader of the Sinister Wind Sect. His cultivation was at the Supreme Profundity intermediary stage, and he was likely to be stronger than Old Man Xuan You. The Sinister Wind Sect had a total of seven Supreme Profundity Realm cultivators, five of which were ordinary Sect Grand Elders who were at the Supreme Profundity preliminary stage, and the rest were the Main and Deputy Sect Leaders.
Once a person’s cultivation reached the Supreme Profundity Realm, it was difficult to take even one more step forward. Although all of them were Supreme Profundity cultivators at first glance, there was a world of difference between them. The five Sect Grand Elders would likely be unable to break through to the Supreme Profundity intermediary stage for the rest of their lives, and it would be even harder for a cultivator at the Supreme Profundity intermediary stage to break through to the Supreme Profundity later stage.
In the entire Peng Lai Immortal Realm, there were very few Supreme Profundity later stage cultivators.
Old Man Xuan You of the Sword Valley had stayed in the Supreme Profundity intermediary stage for 3,000 years, and his chances of breaking through to the Supreme Profundity later stage would be abysmal even if he had not triggered the forbidden technique.
“Since Nie Wuxin has made her appearance, we can only let this matter rest,” the Glorious Heretic Lord said indifferently.
Nie Wuxin was not a woman they could afford to anger. The number of people in the entire Peng Lai Immortal Realm who could afford to offend her could be counted with a single hand, and even the two longstanding middle age sects were unlikely to face her head-on.
The Huatian Palace had one Main Palace Lords and three Deputy Palace Lords. It went without saying that no one was a match for Xiao Hongyu—the Main Palace Lord and the one who controlled the source world—unless someone from the higher world appeared in the lower world.
As for the other three Deputy Palace Lords, they were outstanding figures themselves. Out of all of them, the one with the lowest cultivation had great attainment of the Supreme Profundity Realm, and the one you should provoke the least was the second palace lord Nie Wu Xin. From a particular perspective, it was worse to provoke her than it was to provoke Xiao Hongyu, and a lot of the sects in the Peng Lai Immortal Realm knew that about that woman.
Although the Glorious Heretic Lord was famous in the Peng Lai Immortal Realm, he was not arrogant enough to the extent of challenging Nie Wuxin. From then on, most people did not dare to head down to the Green Ancient Mystery Dimension to stir trouble.
“Your Highness, what about Mo Wen? His talents are terrifying and he might even end up becoming the next Zhang Poxiao. If we let him continue advancing…” another Sect Grand Elder started, but then bit his tongue.
Initially, he did not even want to pay any attention to Mo Wen at all, but the Green Ancient Mystery Dimension had given them a huge surprise this time—to think they had been able to pressure Old Man Xuan You so intensely. If the Glorious Heretic Lord had been the one in the Green Ancient Mystery Dimension instead, the place would probably not survive.
The people seated here were seniors who had high cultivation and had experienced that huge battle 600 years ago, so they knew just how terrifying Zhang Poxiao was.
“How much can he grow in just a hundred years? Hm, I’ll be able to deal with him even if he turns out to be another Zhang Poxiao,” the Glorious Heretic Lord remarked coldly.
Although Zhang Poxiao had been extraordinary back then, he had been difficult not because of his prowess, but because the remarkable power he had cultivated was rather odd and allowed him to slip out of their hands time and time again.
If the man did not escape, he could easily take him on, one-on-one, and kill him.
Besides, there had been too many sects back then who were out for Zhang Poxiao’s blood. The Sinister Wind Sect was far from being the only one who was after the man so they had to deal with the stunts pulled by the other sects, which allowed Zhang Poxiao to slip from their grasp time and time again. That eventually led to a devastating defeat.
A few of the Sect Grand Elders visibly relaxed after they heard what he said. Their leader was still the mighty Glorious Heretic Lord who had never once lost a battle against a cultivator with great attainment of the Supreme Profundity. Although bits of it were exaggerated, his power undeniably came infinitely close to the great attainment of the Supreme Profundity.
Mo Wen paled in comparison and he was unlikely to be able to create a storm even if he had a thousand years, let alone a hundred.
…
The same scene played out in the Petrification Cult, the Shattered Cloud Sect, the Sword Valley, and the Earth Mountain Sect.
The changes in the Green Ancient Mystery Dimension left them with no choice but to re-examine their situation and make plans for their next countermeasure.
But they ultimately reached the same conclusion. There was no resolution at all because none of them dared to challenge Nie Wuxin, not in the least bit.
All the higher-ups in the various sects could only silently allow Mo Wen one hundred years to grow.
Those big sects were not actually terrified, but some of the mid-tier sects were in a panic. If Mo Wen was already this powerful now, how much more would he be in a hundred years?
There were dozens of sects who bore a deep hatred for Mo Wen, but not every one of them had mighty cultivators at the Supreme Profundity Realm, and some sects only had several cultivators with great attainment of the Tide Changing Realm. However, these sects were obviously of no concern to Mo Wen anymore.
The five major sects—the Sinister Wind Sect, the Petrification Cult, the Shattered Cloud Sect, the Earth Mountain Sect, the Sword Valley—were the only sects who could still go up against Mo Wen.
…
In a huge garden within the palace in the Intentionless City, Mo Wen was reclined on a rocking chair. He basked in the sun, comfortable and relaxed.
The burden was off his shoulders now that no one else was coming into the Green Ancient Mystery Dimension. Time—time was the most important thing for him now. With enough time, it was not implausible for him to defeat the sects of the Peng Lai Immortal Realm.
A month had passed since the chaos and the Green Ancient Mystery Dimension had thoroughly stabilized. He had spent some time cultivating in the Green Ancient Mystery Dimension. He did not ask too much of the people, just that they had to be able to protect themselves in times of crisis.
Wang Yinru and Pei Fengwu walked over from afar. Any issues in the Ming Palace were mostly dealt with by the two of them, and the two of them had finally relaxed somewhat after a hectic period.
“How are Gu Jingman’s injuries, Mo Wen?”
Wang Yinru walked over to stand behind Mo Wen. She placed her hands on his head and started massaging him naturally, looking every bit like a gentle and virtuous lady.
Pei Fengwu walked over to stand beside him. She poured him a cup of tea and then sat on the chair beside him, enjoying the afternoon sun.
“Gu Jingman? She’s still in seclusion, but I’m not too sure what she’s tinkering with. All her injuries are probably healed by now.” Mo Wen shook his head. A month had passed and Gu Jingman had the recovery abilities of a cockroach, so her wounds were likely healed by now.
“It’s good that she’s fine. She really gave me a scare, but she underwent such a huge change, no? After you came back, she seemed like a new person altogether.”
Wang Yinru’s eyes flickered, massaging Mo Wen while making small talk.
Pei Fengwu’s gaze immediately fell on Mo Wen’s face, and she continued, “That’s true. Gu Jingman really underwent a seriously huge change, and it’s just unbelievable that her cultivation rose so quickly all of a sudden.”
The two of them did not appear to be talking about something out of the ordinary, but then again, a woman’s words could never be taken at face value. It was only natural that Mo Wen managed to pick up on the subtext, and he could not help but chuckle bitterly. Ah, women!
