Lying on the carpet, Ji Lili felt dizzy and went on to spit out a mouthful of blood. She made a feeble attempt to get up but was unable to do so. She was no longer the arrogant person she showed off to be, a few minutes ago.
The bodyguards who were responsible for Ji Lili’s protection, lunged at Jing Yichen, but before they were even able to touch the collar of Jing Yichen’s shirt, they were all done away with, by Yichen’s lot of bodyguards.
Jing Yichen looked at his team of men and yelled “Fire!”
No sooner had he given the order, than the deafening sound of gunshots being fired and glass breaking, filled the banquet hall. Everyone screamed in fright.
The gunshot sound only lasted for a few seconds. When it stopped, guests realized that nobody was hurt. They weren’t the intended target. Instead, the expensive chandeliers that hung overhead, were now just shards of glass, scattered across the ballroom floor.
The banquet hall was in pitch darkness. Soon, the emergency lights were turned on, illuminating the entire hall once again.
Everyone was huddled to the ground in fright, fearing for their lives. They hoped they weren’t next.
Some had even started to weep in fear whilst some bold ones had pulled out the cell phones, trying to summon some help.
The people trying to make calls were unable to do so. Cell phone reception had been blocked. They couldn’t make and receive calls or messages.
Never in their wildest dreams had they expected the end of the entire episode to be life threatening.
As everyone became even more anxious and panicked, Jing Yichen directed, “All of you, get your shoes off and stand on these shards of glass!”
The audience was stupefied. They didn’t move an inch. There was broken crystal everywhere. This wasn’t a joke.
Even if someone was silly enough to follow Jing Yichen’s orders, broken crystal would pierce their feet. They would lose a lot of blood and the pain would be unbearable.
All this while, Jing Yichen’s men weren’t just waiting for further orders. They knew exactly what was expected of them. They threatened the crowd with violence, if they failed to remove their shoes and stand on the broken crystal pieces, with their bare feet.
People started to shiver and cry, out of fear.
Jing Yichen ignored all this. Instead, he said firmly “Anyone who doesn’t bleed, Lee Duo, please put a bullet into them.”
Lee Duo, whose face was covered in blood after a combat with Ji Lili’s men, nodded in the affirmative to Jing Yichen’s orders.
He and his men inspected each one of the guests.
Whenever they came across someone who still had shoes on, they shot them in their calves. Painful screams filled the room. No one dared to play tricks any more.
“Congratulations to you for enjoying the show sponsored by Ji Lili. You didn’t have the courage to stand up for what was right. Now, it’s payback time. Down on your knees, all of you! One bullet for any knee that is not skinned!”
Someone cursed at Jing Yichen, in frustration ,”Who in the hell are you? Why must we kneel? Do you know who I am? You’d better let me go. My father is the Secretary of the City! You will suffer if anything were to happen to me!”
The moment he finished his sentence, a bullet was shot into his knee, making him collapse to the ground. He screamed in pain, and blood oozed out when his body made contact with the pieces of sharp glass.
Everyone around him was so frightened that they kneeled down with hands over their heads, not bothered about their knees anymore. They’d rather live to see another day then dare to disobey this maniac.
When everyone was on their knees, Jing Yichen walked towards Huang Xinyi, who was already so frightened that she wouldn’t stop crying. He said disdainfully, “You need to be thankful that you have a family name of Huang or you wouldn’t be alive to witness all this.”
He then nodded at Tiger, who was already waiting for his command. “Break her arms and then push her off!”
Within minutes Tiger broke both of Huang Xinyi’s arms. The pain made her scream, frightening everyone else who heard them.
Then, Huang Xinyi was pushed on to the broken crystal pieces, next to Ji Lili. Both of them were covered with blood.
Shangguan Ning felt no sympathy, seeing Huang Xinyi tormented. At the back of her mind though, she was still worried that if something happened to her, Uncle would be sad.
Jing Yichen gauged what Ning was worried about. He patted her hands and said softly. “Don’t worry, these are just superficial wounds. They hurt but they are not fatal. They will commit a crime like this again, if they aren’t taught a strict lesson now.”
After he comforted his wife, he went to Tang Yun and said to her, “Didn’t you hear what I said? Remove your shoes and kneel onto the broken pieces of glass.”
Tang Yun’s eyes widened in disbelief as she protested, “What… what are you talking about?!”
“I don’t want to repeat myself. Don’t force me to put a bullet into your legs, TangYun!”
“Are you crazy?! I am Tang Yun, Yichen, don’t you know? How can I kneel in front of Shangguan Ning, like the rest of these people. I refuse to.”
Jing Yichen was in a terrible mood and was extremely furious at the moment. He had no patience to deal with Tang Yun. He was livid that Shangguan Ning was bullied by so many people and Huang Xinyi, Ji Lili and Tang Yun were responsible for it.
He held Tang Yun by her collar and dragged her to the floor. Then he gave her a violent push and she fell to the ground, her knees scraping against the sharp pieces of glass.
Tang Yun felt so much pain that she almost passed out. She was about to say something when Jing Yichen replied, as if he had already known what she wanted to say. “What I owe to you has nothing to do with what you owe to her. She didn’t ask you to settle the debt because of her love for me. So now I am asking for payback, for her sake. You should know that I have always been a ruthless man, and I am already being merciful enough to you!”
He then turned away from Tang Yun and came to the table where a stack of red wine bottles were placed. He picked up two bottles.
Ji Lili squirmed in pain, seeing Jing Yichen walk towards her with the red wine.
“My mother… is the Mayor! If you are smart… you’d better… get out now…”
Before she was able to finish what she had to say, Jing Yichen had smashed a bottle of red wine on her head.
With a thud, the red wine bottle broke against her skull. The red wine spilled onto Ji Lili’s head, dripping down her cheeks, all the way to her body, mixing with blood from her wounds.
A bone chilling scream echoed through the banquet hall. Ji Lili felt as if her head had exploded. She was unable to think coherently.
Huang Xinyi who was beside her, passed out, out of fright, having witnessed Ji Lili go through this torture.
But Jing Yichen would not let her go this easily. He ordered Tiger to bring her back to her senses.
When Huang Xinyi opened her eyes, she was so scared to see that she was still in the banquet hall!
Seeing that she was awake, Jing Yichen smashed another bottle of wine upon her head without a moment’s hesitation.
Another thud. More blood. Even more screams, but Huang Xinyi met the same state as Ji Lili. Blood instantly gushed out of her head. Ji Lili was conscious but unable to move.
Huang Xinyi looked at Shangguan Ning, pleadingly. She implored her to rescue her, but Shangguan Ning just looked through her cousin. She refused to give Xinyi one more chance to redeem herself.
