Boom, boom, boom—
“Kane, do you think that guy will break the door down?”
“No way,” Kane answered. “That’s a 15-centimeter-thick steel door. Not even 15 kilograms of TNT can blash it open.”
“Unless he has tools,” Karim said.
“There’s nothing in there other than ice.”
“Ice?!” Everyone noticed the problem.
“Mr. Laurent, I think we should go.”
“Why?”
“If Chen Zhao comes out,” Kane said, “he’ll kill us.”
“Can he really break open the door?”
“He might be smashing the door with ice wrapped in clothes…” Kane said, expression serious.
“How long will it take for him to open it?”
“Don’t know, but it’s definitely dangerous for us to stay here.”
There were dents in the door now. The crashes kept ringing in their minds. Kane, Karim, and Howard were terrified to stand outside and watch.
If they were caught by the creature inside, they’d definitely be dismembered.
If they’d known this, they wouldn’t help Laurent plan this. They didn’t get any benefits and would instead be remembered by Chen Zhao.
The three looked over at Laurent, making him unhappy. He’d clearly won by bringing Chen Zhao into his trap. How come they had to escape so pitifully as if they’d lost?
But staying here really was too dangerous.
Chen Zhao had been trapped for more than an hour. If he really broke out, no one knew what he would do.
“Go, go,” Laurent said. “I don’t want to see him.”
The four fled from the factory.
“Laurent, how come you’re back so early?” Winnip asked, surprised to see Laurent back. “Why isn’t Chen with you?”
“L.A. doesn’t have anywhere fun,” Laurent replied, unhappy. “That guy doesn’t know of any places either. It was a mistake to have him take me out. Winnip, when will we go home?”
“Not so soon. We’re finally at L.A. so we have to walk around. Oh, I want to visit the Walk of Fame tomorrow.”
…
Chen Zhao wrapped the ice with his clothes, but after half an hour, the shirt was completely ragged. It couldn’t cover the ice anymore.
He started using his fists, but it really hurt. He couldn’t continue after a few punches. He could only turn to his feet, but it didn’t last long either. This door was too thick. He wasn’t strong enough at all.
There was only one way to get out.
The Mouth of Glutton on his right hand! Only it could open the door.
Chen Zhao took out the scroll for Soul Connection. He’d read it a few times before, but he couldn’t remember it completely. He could only wing it now, but there wasn’t much hope.
But without the noise and bustle outside, he was calmer than before.
Chen Zhao moved his right hand. It didn’t work.
When he activated the Soul Connection, Chen Zhao felt more like he was turning magic power into a plug to put into a socket. It wasn’t easy to plug into the socket. The plug couldn’t be too big or small; it had to be just right.
Chen Zhao pulled back a bit of the magic power and tried to control the Mouth of Glutton.
He failed again…
He might’ve released too much magic power. He had to readjust it.
He tried again and failed…
Tried again and failed…
A few more tries later, Chen Zhao felt dizzy. He couldn’t continue and coldness seized him. He shivered and felt more awake.
He took out some dragon meat to replenish his strength and energy.
He tried the Soul Connection to the Mouth of Glutton again. This time, pain pricked his head and his arm shuddered.
Chen Zhao quickly stopped. The pain came quickly but also left quickly. It was like nothing had happened.
Had he been using magic too often?
He had no idea, but he tried to activate the Soul Connection again.
Surprisingly, it was much smoother than before.
He’d succeeded! It was connected!
Chen Zhao finally felt something different with his right arm. He could control it freely as if it was his own.
His arm expanded and was covered in a metallic glint. Not only could he control the Mouth of Glutton, but he could also sense its feelings.
And its hunger!
The Mouth of Glutton wasn’t interested in the steel gate.
Chen Zhao took a deep breath and waved his arm.
Boom!
The tempered glass shattered and the door was completely dented. A large amount of cold air started leaking out. That punch had been countless times stronger than Chen Zhao’s own.
He built up power to punch again.
This punch was even stronger than before. The entire wall shook and the sound echoed throughout the room.
The door flew out with a boom. Finally, Chen Zhao could breathe fresh air and enjoy the warm current.
It was deep at night now. As Chen Zhao walked out of the factory, the outside was silent. It was empty of people.
This was an abandoned neighborhood in the first place. No one lived here anymore.
Not only had Laurent locked him in the freezer for eight hours, but he’d also driven the car away. Chen Zhao didn’t even have a phone, so he could only go back on foot.
After one hour, Chen Zhao finally ran the 50 kilometers back home.
“Chen, you’re back.” Fali saw that Chen Zhao was back, but he was completely drenched in sweat. “How was it with Dad today? Did you have fun?”
“Yes, very happy.” Chen Zhao smiled brightly.
“How did things go?”
“I think we’ve made up already,” Chen Zhao said, smiling. “We decided to go out again tomorrow.”
“Really? That’s great. I finally don’t have to worry anymore.” Fali hugged Chen Zhao, feeling the concern in her dissolving. “Oh, did your phone die? I couldn’t call you.”
“Yeah, it died. I left it with your dad. I’ll go get it from him tomorrow.”
“Where did you go today?”
“It’s men’s secret. Don’t ask.”
“Fine. I’m happy to see you two interact nicely.”
“I’m happy too. I think I can become good friends with your dad.”
“Did you eat dinner yet?”
“I want to eat you first.” Chen Zhao hugged Fali from behind, starting to get scandalous.
“You’re so dirty. Go shower first.”
“No, we’ll shower together later. Let’s eat first.”
Chen Zhao already pulled down Fali’s straps and was kissing her. A few moves later, Fali was already moaning…
