Chapter 214 – Wood Spark Kun Peng
Outside of the Jade Dragon Keep, Chi Liannu followed Zhong Yue as he entered the keep and she looked around as she said in surprise, “I can’t believe that Yu Xuanji actually organized such a grand welcome for you. It’s almost like it’s standard for welcoming the lords of a certain territory!”
The welcome was indeed very grand as the elders of Jade Dragon Keep appeared and all the famous Qi Practitioners of the keep were in attendance to welcome the arrival of Zhong Yue. They had banners everywhere, music playing aloud, and all sorts of spells cast by Qi Practitioners that turned into decorative dragons and phoenixes that danced in the air, circling around Zhong Yue all the way into the keep.
Such a scene was even rarely experienced by Chi Liannu, who was the second disciple of the Saint City Lord. Upon witnessing this, she thought to herself in shock, Long Yue has stood his ground firmly and is a very influential figure among the monsters. I suspect that he would have received such a grand welcome ceremony if he were in the Luo Ying City as well! I think that he is the only Awakening level Qi Practitioner throughout all these years that has warranted such a grand ceremony!
As for Qing He, Long Chun’er and the other girls that had never experienced such a grand scene before, all of them, with the exception of Qing He, were barely able to maintain to composure. Qing He, considering her status as Shu Qianqiu’s disciple, had experienced events slightly inferior to this, but the other four girls were all incomparably tensed as tightly followed behind Zhong Yue, not daring to even let out a pant.
After the death of the lord of Jade Dragon Keep, the entire Jade Dragon Keep had become extremely united, with each and every one of them unanimously supporting Yu Xuanji as they crowned him as the new lord. Their hostility towards Xian Kong Saint City had also grown fiercely in light of recent events.
From this point, the differences between the ideology of the lord of Jade Dragon Keep and Shi Buyi could be seen clearly. The Jade Dragon Keep Lord had sacrificed himself in order to cultivate Yu Xuanji while Shi Buyi tried to kill everyone so that the【Monster God Ming King Art】would not be leaked to the outsiders. One of them was a hero while the other one was a ruthless and selfish despot. When the hero died, his people would stand up in a united front to fend off their enemies. In contrast, when the other died, all those he had previously held in the stranglehold of his rule would invariably disperse and scatter.
When Zhong Yue and Yu Xuanji met with each other again, the both of them felt rushing sentiments as they reminisced of the days in Xian Kong Saint City. By now, Yu Xuanji had also entered the level of Awakening, managing to open his Wu Xing and Wan Xiang Wheel after pouring a huge effort into cultivating the【Monster God Ming King Art】. It was obvious that he had never been as diligent in his cultivation as he was now.
After his coronation as lord, he was now constantly secretly guarded by elder level Qi Practitioners, even in his reunion with his old friend. His status as the lord of Jade Dragon Keep and the【Monster God Ming King Art】had now made his safety a paramount concern for these ancient monster Qi Practitioners.
“Senior martial brother, I will definitely kill Shi Buyi in the future to avenge my dearest teacher?” asked Yu Xuanji.
Zhong Yue smiled and replied, “Shi Buyi cannot tolerate you and the same applies to me. If you want to kill him, I will definitely lend you my assistance. By the way, I have some of Shi Buyi’s notes regarding the【Monster God Ming King Art】here, I hope that these notes would help your cultivation.”
His psyche moved and he passed the notes to Yu Xuanji through a mental transmission into his mind. Then Zhong Yue said again, “In the end, Shi Buyi had hidden away a huge amount of knowledge in the art when he taught me. And the Ming King divine eye totem carvings are missing so if you want to cultivate this art, you will have to find a higher level divine eye totem carving to replace it.”
Yu Xuanji was very grateful and he said, “I owe you once again and I will repay you at any cost in the future!”
Zhong Yue then stayed at Jade Dragon Keep for a few days before he departed to the Eastern Sea after being sent off by Yu Xuanji and the other people of Jade Dragon keep. When Zhong Yue departed and looked back, he saw Yu Xuanji standing among the many Qi Practitioners of Jade Dragon Keep at the harbour, only seeing them leave to return after Zhong Yue and the others had disappeared from their sights. Upon seeing that, Zhong Yue couldn’t help but feel a wave of emotion stir within him.
“Is junior martial brother envious of him?” asked a smiling Chi Liannu.
Zhong Yue shook his head and replied, “It may be good to inherit such a strong power at such a young age but he also carries the heavy hopes of the Jade Dragon Keep on his shoulders. He’s no longer free to do as he would’ve done before all of this – for this, I do not envy him.”
Chi Liannu however, showed an envious expression and she said, “I would definitely be incredibly happy if I had such authority. I would simply forget about everything and enjoy myself to the fullest.”
Zhong Yue sighed and thought to himself, The headmasters of Swords Gate are just like Yu Xuanji. They seem to occupy lofty and privileged positions when looking from the outside but what goes unnoticed by many is the huge responsibility of guarding the future of humanity that comes with that authority. There isn’t much opportunity for happiness for people like them.
The Eastern Sea was incredibly vast and on the sea, there were many mountains and islands. The region a few thousand miles around the land belonged to the monsters. The Sulphur Island and Jin Xiu Island was located in the South and the North respectively.
Even though the two islands were severely weakened from the death of their spirits in the Beast God Ridge, their power was not to be underestimated due to the presence of the two magnate Qi Practitioners – Yan Yunsheng and Xiu Tianchen.
Hu——-
Suddenly, rogue waves were formed as a pitch black “island” emerged from the sea and when Zhong Yue looked at the “island”, it became larger and larger and then, a head emerged from the sea. It was a gigantic sea serpent!
The girls had a shock and suddenly, “islands” continued to emerge one after another. When they had fully emerged, a hydra of a hundred feet appeared!
This hydra had eighteen eyes and when they all looked at Zhong Yue and the others, flapping noises could be heard as the gills of the hydra extended out and started flapping quickly as if it wanted to ascend to the air from the sea.
Chi Liannu’s face changed and she shouted in shock, “What a strong sea race! It is on the level of Inner Core!”
Pu——-
A huge spear flew out from the sea and pierced one of the hydra’s heads, causing blood to spill everywhere and the hydra to roar in pain. As it roared, it stirred up huge tidal waves in the originally calm sea that shot towards all directions.
Before Zhong Yue and the others realized, huge sea creatures continued to emerge from the sea. An eight-legged sea creature the size of a mountain with suckers all over its legs charged out from the sea. A huge mountain-sized fish flew out from the sea level each time it opened its mouth, it would spit out powerful spells!
Then, huge sea creatures rushed out from the sea, riding on the tidal waves and disturbing the peace on the ocean while a gigantic crab swung its claws, crushing everything that came into contact with it.
There was also a huge white furred sea ape charged out out the sea while it swung a huge club.
In just an instant, hundreds of sea creatures emerged from the sea, casting powerful spells, swinging huge soul weapons and fought together, dying the sea red with their blood and suffusing the salty ocean scent with an additional metallic odor.
Huala——-
After a loud noise, a huge ship a few hundred meters long charged out from the sea. That ship was luxuriously decorated – golden in color and embellished with pearls, jades, diamonds and gold nuggets. On the golden ship, a girl wearing dragon armor with dragon horns on her head stood there while sea monsters on the ship unsheathed their soul weapons before jumping into the seawater and fighting with the other sea creatures, causing the situation to spiral into greater chaos.
Then, the girl looked towards Zhong Yue and the others who were near the border of the battlefield and her gaze brushed through everyone before landing on Zhong Yue. After focusing her gaze on him for some time, she ordered a servant by her side to do something.
The servant then approached them and shouted, “The sea races are rebelling and General Ao Xiu is here to eliminate these rebels. That junior martial brother over there, please get on board to prevent yourself from getting dragged into the battle.”
Ao Xiu?
Chi Liannu’s heart thumped and she measured the girl from afar as she said, “It really is her! She is a strong Qi Practitioner of the Ao Clan of the dragon race and she occupies a high position in her race. Her strength seems to be no any weaker than mine as well….”
Then, the golden ship started moving and it crushed everything in its way including the huge sea creatures with its immense weight. It soon arrived in front of Zhong Yue and the others.
Zhong Yue then led the girls to board while he thanked, “Thank you, General Ao Xiu. My name is Long Yue.”
“Long Yue? You are the Long Yue?”
Ao Xiu stood up and measured Zhong Yue as she said with shock, “I’ve heard from Brother Feng Lou that you are a disciple of the Xiang Dragon Clan and you had single-handedly built up your own power in the East Barren. You even became the disciple of Shi Buyi and because of what you have done, the elders of my clan were extremely fond of you.”
Zhong Yue felt relieved and he thought, Seems like Ao Fenglou did not reveal my real identity to them.
Ao Xiu invited Zhong Yue and the other girls to their own seats and she smirked and said to Chi Liannu, “Chi Lian, why are you here in the Eastern Sea? I know that you are very famous and the second disciple of Shi Buyi but that does not mean that you are fit enough to mess with us in the Eastern Sea!”
Chi Liannu replied with a giggle, “I am here with my dear junior martial brother, not to cause any troubles. Is this how General Ao Xiu treats her guests?”
Ao Xiu smirked and replied, “It’s best if you don’t cause any trouble or you will not walk out of the Eastern Sea alive. Junior Martial Brother Long Yue, after I have dealt the rebels, I will take you to the dragon palace. Many of the elders are keen to make your acquaintance.”
Zhong Yue coughed and he asked as he looked towards the battlefield, “General Xiu, why are these sea races rebelling?”
Ao Xiu shook her head and said, “This is just a small rebel group as compared to the rebels in the deep sea. God knows where did these sea races got news of the Wood Yao Starry forming in the Wood Celestial Star and wanting to descend onto the Eastern Sea after becoming the Kun Peng God. These sea races were convinced and they are planning to construct a portal so that the God of Kun Peng could descend and overthrow the dragons from the Eastern Sea. Fortunately, we discovered it quickly and foiled their plans or something bad was bound to happen!”
“Kun Peng?”
Zhong Yue was stunned and he shouted, “There are living beings in the Wood Celestial Star?”
“The Wood Celestial Star has no land at all and everything is covered in water. The descendants of the Kun Peng races are still living in the star. There were also remains of the ancient celestial palaces but the gods and demons were unable to be born without a proper celestial palace, preventing them from flying out of the Wood Celestial Star.”
The percussive thumping of war drums could be heard from the golden ship nonstop as the rebels were slaughtered one by one as Ao Xiu took a careful look around the battlefield with a relieved heart and said, “The elders made an assumption that instead of a spirit that was going to evolve into the God of Kun Peng, it was the descendants of the Kun Peng that dug out a celestial palace’s ancient remains that unleashed an ancient God of Kun Peng’s spirit.”
“Other than Wood Celestial Star, there is also the Fire Celestial Star, Gold Celestial Star and Water Celestial Star that has traces of gods residing in them once and these gods left behind their own progeny during their lifetime. As years passed, we currently have no idea if the descendants of these gods are still there but about a year ago, our dragon race discovered some abnormal movements on the moon. A light pierced straight through the sun and the moon. It was probably the doing of these godly spirits that are still present in these stars.”
Zhong Yue looked up into the sky and thought, Is she talking about me? I once teleported to the sun from the moon in order to obtain the sun spirit.
Chi Liannu nodded and said, “I’ve heard about it as well. The planet we live in now is also a star called the Ancestral Star. They said that during the Flame Order Era, the first Heavenly Emperor started his legacy here and each and every Heavenly Emperor will return to worship and pray to their ancestors. Then, during the Fuxi era, the Heavenly Emperor Fu Xi was born on this planet and he named this planet as the Ancestral Star. But for some reason, this star’s prosperity has declined.”
