Although the Violent Beasts were simply enduring the bullets at the moment, Sheyan believed in one simple truth – the desire to survive was always greater than anything else. Their persistence right now was just a facade. The breaking point would soon come.
When the death count of the Violent Beasts passed a certain critical point, being intelligent creatures, they would certainly abandon the Xenomorphs and run away. However, the Xenomorphs could not run away with them because they would be reluctant to abandon their young that were about to hatch.
And that was the chance Sheyan was quietly waiting for, like a wolf hiding its claws.
Soon, the first critical point was reached.
But the Violent Beasts did not disperse and run away like Sheyan had anticipated. Instead, the severe losses they sustained had resulted in a huge retaliation. A large number of Violent Beasts rushed down from the island, roaring and howling wildly, and plunged into the water which had caused them so much pain. They soon crowded the water like dumplings in a pot.
Despite the loud screams of agony, despite the rashes and bulges that appeared on their body, despite the unbearable itch, and despite the cramps, the threat of death forced them to stubbornly and slowly move towards the humans.
Nevertheless, such an event was not entirely out of Sheyan’s expectation. He turned to look at Pokan. Pokan pointed towards Aldaris and rocks immediately grew out of the ground to form a solid cover around Aldaris, leaving only a small hole to allow him to see. Then, Aldaris started the chant for ‘Spiritual Storm’!
The Violent Beasts’ slow travel speed in the swamp water, their astonishing density, and the low amount of life they had left formed a deadly noose that was slowly wrapping around their necks.
When the chant for ‘Spiritual Storm’ concluded, the storm that had ravaged madly through the air appeared once more and extended into a web of death. The web descended to completely pour the caster’s rage and anger onto the targets!
‘Spiritual Storm’ lasted for twelve seconds, covering almost the whole distance between the island and the dike.
Aldaris was undoubtedly an arrogant bastard, but he had good reason to be arrogant. Take the ‘Spiritual Storm’, for example. The theoretical total damage done by a full 12 seconds of the storm was very alarming; it was a daunting number.
Normally, the average Violent Beast could last up to seven seconds in the storm before it died, while the elites could last for eight seconds. Even the legendary Violent Beasts could not last more than ten seconds. Therefore, highly intelligent creatures like the Xenomorphs would definitely not let Aldaris have his way!
If they could not stop Aldaris’ attack at once, or at least within seven seconds, all the Violent Beasts that still had the courage to attack would be dead. The only thing that awaited them would be a major defeat!
This was Sheyan’s brilliant scheme which the Xenomorphs had no choice but to follow! Once a real tactical master grasped the initiative in a battle, the enemy could only move according to their will like a marionette, until failure or until death.
The only chance left for the Xenomorphs was to carve a bloody path to survival with their claws, their sharp teeth, their long tails, and their corrosive acid!
Suddenly, sprays of water burst from three spots near the dike and came down pouring onto the humans like giant waves. The Xenomorphs were evidently trying to disrupt their vision. It was a pity that the actions of the Xenomorphs underwater was fully visible to Sheyan thanks to the amazing ‘Carbon-Based Organism Detector, Type III’.
In fact, Sheyan never expected that the equipment he had inadvertently obtained in the Terminator world would be put to such great use here!
First came a huge rock that fell down from the sky. The rock was about the width of a grinding disc and weighed hundreds of kilograms. Besides its weight, the impact when it struck was also enhanced by the additional momentum from dropping dozens of meters from the sky. If there was enough casting time, the rock should also be enveloped in a blazing flame, and there should be seven other similar rocks crashing down together with it.
That’s right, it was the famous Earth-elemental spell, ‘Meteor Shower’ (don’t ask me why Meteor Shower is an Earth-elemental spell, please ask the game developers instead)….or at least, the simplified, diminished, poor man’s version of one. And because it was the simplified, diminished, poor man’s version, the casting time had been reduced from 7 seconds to 1 second, and the precious casting materials could be done without.
The rock struck down on a Xenomorph just as it was leaping out of the water, breaking its shell and causing a spray of blackish-brown corrosive blood. White smoke rose as the blood corroded the rock with a fierce hiss.
The monstrous impact from the collision broke the rock into pieces that flew everywhere, but nobody cared about that. What was important was that it had done its job in smashing the Xenomorph back into the water. That was enough.
When another Xenomorph broke through the surface of the water, it instantly saw a figure blocking its path.
The figure was silent, heavy, firm, and lifeless.
It carried no trace of the fresh blood that the Xenomorph liked, but instead, had a strong rusty smell.
The Xenomorph had no intention of changing its course because every second was precious right now. Its sharp claws and teeth drew long trails of sparks on the humanoid figure, but no sweet blood nor steaming organs sprayed out, only terrible metallic screeches.
The figure was an Iron Golem summoned by Paul.
It was a pile of metal with mediocre attack and insufficient speed. Its only advantage was that it could take a lot of hits. And that was all Sheyan needed it to do.
The Iron Golem did not fight back. It only extended its strong arms to hug the Xenomorph passionately like an old friend, tying up the Xenomorph in a tight embrace. The Xenomorph struggled frantically to fight back, flicking its long tail and waving its claws….. Every hit managed to do effective damage to the Iron Golem, but it would take at least twenty seconds to break free of this entanglement.
The last Xenomorph managed to get close to Aldaris and slam into the cover protecting him. Its body rebounded from the strong impact.
Although Aldaris’ cover had been specifically reinforced by Pokan’s magic, a large number of cracks had now appeared on it. Sand and stones rolled down from the cover.
There was no doubt that a light push of the finger was all that was needed to cause an astonishing chain reaction which would make the cover collapse into debris. Aldaris’ chanting would surely be interrupted then.
But the Xenomorph suddenly felt an unbelievably strong threat as soon as it bounced back. It immediately turned its head and saw a tall man pointing a gun that exuded supreme dignity at it!!
Although the Xenomorph had no concept of the crown, or the court, or holiness and dignity, but it felt at that moment as if the sky and the earth were rapidly collapsing onto it. The pressure was as if he was being abandoned by the whole planet, the whole world, the whole universe!
“I declare that the creature before me is the enemy of justice!”
As the merciless voice sounded, a holy light poured down and illuminated the Xenomorph. Next, the roar of ‘Verdict’ echoed once again through the swamp.
A large amount of shrapnels ruthlessly penetrated into the Xenomorph’s body, easily tearing its tough skin apart. A horrible power suppressed the Xenomorph’s nerves so that it could not move and made it difficult for the monster to breathe.
While Sheyan was firing the shot, Ronnie emerged in a bizarre manner from the shadows. Within the sights of the contestants, an illusionary image of a huge grinning skull instantly appeared above the head of the Xenomorph.
The ‘Mark of Death’!
Ronnie then raised the dagger in his hand high up in the air. A dazzling light cut through the sky like lightning. Five seconds was enough time for him to bring out his trump card – his Awakener Skill!
All the people present suddenly felt strange sensation. It was an ominous feeling that was dangerous enough to make their hair stand on end.
Then, more than ten metres across from Ronnie, an identical “Ronnie” appeared. Together with the real Ronnie, they rushed towards the stunned Xenomorph.
Both of them moved extremely fast. After they got close to the Xenomorph, their attacks could not be seen at all. The others could only see the splashes of blood as the cold glint on the daggers leaped around at an astonishing speed like electric flashes.
Finally, Ronnie’s dagger penetrated deep into the Xenomorph’s chest from the front, stabbing through its internal organs, while the dagger held by the phantom penetrated deep into the Xenomorph’s back.
The tips of the pair of sharp daggers met inside the Xenomorph’s body, making a muffled sound of metallic clash!
At the moment of impact, a powerful force erupted from the tips. Like a black hole, it greedily sucked everything around it inside. The suction force was so strong that Ronnie’s phantom was also absorbed to be used as an energy source. Then, the energy exploded inside the Xenomorph’s body! Flesh and blood rained down on the ground!
The humans’ noses were filled with the pungent, suffocating smell of sulphur, as if the apocalypse had arrived!
A basin-sized wound had appeared on the chest of the Xenomorphs, penetrating all the way to the back so that the view behind it was visible from the front. Some charred organs fell from its body. One could imagine the pain it was in.
