The old man who had suddenly appeared wasn’t just anybody; he was the Emperor of the Glacier Country. He had some business to attend to earlier and left for a while. What he didn’t expect was that when he came back, he would see his own son being trampled under someone’s foot.
The Crown Prince stared at the Emperor of the Glacier Country.
“Father,” he said, “you have to avenge me. Kill this man! He slapped me in the face, and then stepped on my head. This is an act of disrespect against the Glacier Country.”
The Emperor of the Glacier Country nodded. Standing up, he glared at Qingfeng Li with eyes filled with killing intent. “You damnable thing,” his voice was cold. “How dare you strike my son? I’m going to have you drawn and quartered!”
Qingfeng Li stared back at the Emperor, sneering. “Damn geezer,” he said, his voice full of disdain. “Last time at the Peach Blossom Inn, you attacked me without warning. Let’s settle the score once and for all.”
Shuffle, shuffle, shuffle…
Around them, the self-cultivators collectively backed away. They knew how powerful the Emperor of the Glacier Country was, and they had just witnessed Qingfeng Li’s power with their own eyes.
Now that the two masters had gathered together, there would no doubt be powerful attacks being used. There was no way that the bystanders could withstand such force. It was better to back away, lest the energy from the battle soon to erupt cause them harm.
The Emperor of the Glacier County stepped forward, an icy energy radiating from his body, causing the air around him to frost over as though it was frozen.
Not willing to back off in the slightest, Qingfeng Li, too, took a step forward. The Wolf God’s energy erupted from him like a bloody wolf waiting to be set loose so it could open its maw and devour everything in the world.
Qingfeng Li and the Emperor of the Glacier Kingdom stood face to face, their weapons drawn. A battle was sure to erupt at the slightest provocation.
“Halt!” A loud, clear voice sounded from nearby. “In Emerald Lake City, fighting is forbidden!”
A middle-aged man with an authoritative aura walked in. The man had wild, untamed features; with thick, black brows and a prominent nose. He was tall, his whole body exuding a piercing energy as he stood there, straight as a spear. He had an awe-inspiring figure.
“Chief Commander,” the owner of the inn ran out hurriedly as he spoke in a respectful tone, “What are you doing here?”
This middle-aged man was the Chief Commander of Emerald Lake City, the leader of the City’s Guard Captains. He was very powerful, having reached the Spirit Monarch Realm Second Level. The energy radiating from him alone sent a chill down Qingfeng Li’s spine.
The Emperor of the Glacier Country, too, backed away, his expression shifting; he knew that he was no match for this Chief Commander.
The Chief Commander gazed first at Qingfeng Li, then at the Emperor of the Glacier Country. “The demonic beast riot waves are coming,” he said coldly, “Put all your energy into defending against the demonic beast riot waves.”
With that, the Chief Commander turned and left, but the warning in his eyes did not dissipate.
The Emperor of the Glacier Country directed a cold glare at Qingfeng Li, before turning and leaving with his son. Although he was the Emperor of the Glacier County, his own strength was only at the Half Step Spirit Monarch Realm. Compared to the Chief Commander, a master of the Spirit Monarch Realm’s Second Level, he wasn’t even in the same class.
Qingfeng Li also took back his Monarch Law. He turned to Ya Yun, who was standing beside him. “My Lady,” he asked, “What are the demonic beast riot waves?”
Ya Yun thought for a moment before replying, “The demonic beast riot waves is a stampede of demonic beasts within the Sun Mystic Realm. Each time it occurs, at least ten thousand demonic beasts will be involved, with the largest demonic beast riot waves consisting of more than a million beasts.
These hordes of demonic beasts form a massive wave, which attack human cities. Once the defenses of these human cities are breached, the beasts would swarm forth and devour the flesh and blood of all the self-cultivators within. It’s a terribly cruel thing.”
Hearing Ya Yun’s words, Qingfeng Li’s expression changed. He also knew the power of the demonic beast riot waves. Once the beasts gathered, they would charge at the city walls like a tsunami. They would definitely damage the city and harm the self-cultivators within.
Beside Qingfeng Li were the people he cared most about: Mengyao Xu, the Emperor of Lingyun, Black Puppy, and Sky-Devouring Snake. He could not allow them to get hurt.
“Ya Yun,” he inquired, “when do the demonic beast riot waves usually come?”
Ya Yun pondered for a moment. Then, she spoke. “Probably in the next few days. Have you noticed? The self-cultivators outside are all preparing for the event. Some are buying elixirs, others are buying spiritual treasures and talismans. These are all to ensure their well-being.”
Qingfeng Li nodded. “Then, let’s go buy some things, too,” he said. “I’ve used up all the elixirs I had on me.”
The Sky Wolf Emperor nodded. “Yeah,” he said. “I don’t have many elixirs left either. All I have are vitality stones. Let’s go. We can buy some elixirs with vitality stones to heal us if we become injured.”
Qingfeng Li nodded and led the group outside. By now, the streets had become somewhat crowded. Masses of self-cultivators were in the stores, buying items that could improve their combat ability and survivability.
Qingfeng Li chose an elixir store and walked in. This store was called the Solar Elixir Store. On a plaque over the door was etched a massive red sun within which sparkled Emperor grade talisman scripts.
As he entered the Solar Elixir Store, Qingfeng Li’s expression changed. From within, he sensed a powerful presence; a master of the Spirit Monarch Realm was watching over this elixir store.
The Solar Elixir Store was quite large; its interiors were about a thousand square meters. Within, all kinds of elixirs stood on display, their numbers far too many to count.
With just a glance, Qingfeng Li spotted Imperial Soul Elixirs, Imperial Blood Elixirs, and Imperial Yang Elixirs. These were all important elixirs of the monarch level, though their prices were likewise extremely high.
Some monarch level elixirs costed tens of thousands of monarch level vitality stones, others costed anywhere from a hundred thousand to hundreds of thousands. As far as Qingfeng Li and company were concerned, this price range was astronomical. These weren’t elixirs that they could afford.
As for the spirit herbs, they were all extremely expensive as well. Despite this, some had enough vitality stones to spend on these elixirs and spirit herbs, examples were the Emperors and Crown Princes of powerful countries, and sect masters of large sects.
Qingfeng Li and company didn’t have that kind of wealth. However, someone did. And that someone was Ya Yun. She was the daughter of the President of the Crimson Fire Mainland Trading Company and her interspatial ring contained a large amount of vitality stones.
However, most of these were monarch level vitality stones. There were only enough monarch level vitality stones to buy a few elixirs, and these were only enough for Ya Yun herself. There wasn’t enough for anyone else.
Ya Yun purchased four elixirs. Taking two of them, she said, “Big Brother Li, I’ll give you half of my elixirs.”
Qingfeng Li smiled. “There’s no need,” he said. “Keep these elixirs for healing yourself. I’ll find a way to take care of myself.”
Ya Yun gazed at Qingfeng li, not understanding what he could possibly do. Even with Ya Yun’s wealth, some of these elixirs were out of her price range. Qingfeng Li couldn’t possibly afford them.
