After the first instance of self detonation killed some of the reinforcements, as well as a few nihil level beasts, the remaining beast Infernum decided to drop the act.
They’d raised an enormous fuss when they first entered the area so they would draw the other vicious beasts. Now that self detonation destroyed the first group of reinforcements, the others were no fools and didn’t dare approach those not of their bloodline.
Given the reticence, Lu Yun sent his Infernum in a forward charge.
Borrowing force to deploy force, doing battle to sustain battle.
The beasts killed in self detonation were further turned into Infernum. Since the kingdom of hell was almost full, he decided to leave the new recruits where they were. It would be a nice surprise if they managed to fully eradicate the demon gods’ bloodlines.
Formula dao told him that the demon gods would be able to continuously return to life if their bloodlines weren’t extinguished. If one wished to slay a demon god, one had to end its line. And not just the ones here, but also the vicious beasts sealed at the World Heart.
Of course, if Lu Yun turned an entire bloodline of vicious beasts into his Infernum, then the resurrected demon god would likely come back as Infernum.
That left him with one question that he’d had all along—where did these demon gods come from?
Mo Yi was a spirit born of the nothing, the first life form. Her destiny was connected to the nothing, so what of the demon gods?
Where did they come from? Formula dao couldn’t give him even an inkling of an answer.
Although it looked like they also came from the nothing, that their fate was likewise intricately tied to the nihil, there seemed to be a deeper meaning hidden otherwise. A truth that everyone overlooked or ignored.
Mo Yi was the first spirit born in the nothing, but the nothing was a void that lacked everything. There were no rules or existence, so how had Mo Yi come to be?
She was also just Mo Yi, why did everyone call her the mistress?
How did the Three Thousand and the world that’d been the Tome of Life and Death manifest? Why would existence appear out of nowhere in a place that was devoid of all?
Something that seemed so matter-of-fact that it was common knowledge wasn’t necessarily correct.
Lu Yun didn’t know why he was considering this at this particular moment. Where did the bloodlines of the three hundred and sixty-five, or rather, the one thousand and eighty demon gods and even more in the past, come from?
Things didn’t seem as straightforward as they appeared.
His current cultivation level could be deemed as sacred supreme, but he didn’t wield the strength of the five sacred supremes of the Three Thousand. He was one on par with great god Pangu.
It was a level that exceeded empyrean supreme and rivaled the nothing. In fact, he could kill nihil powerhouses if he so desired. Plainly, he and Pangu were the same kind of person.
Instead of joining the fray at the Three Thousand, Pangu remained in residence at the chief worlds and safeguarding the World of Immortals. He didn’t watch over the primordial world of immortals about to enter the nothing because the World of Immortals was Lu Yun’s home.
Like an unstoppable boulder rolling downhill, the army of vicious beast Infernum grew larger and larger. Led by the ten Yama Kings, Ox-Head, and Horse-Face, they charged into the heart of the forbidden area.
Demon God Duosheng’s bloodline had been exterminated; all of them were now Lu Yun’s ghostly soldiers. They spread out in all directions and killed everyone they saw. Self detonation was a prompt course of action when they found themselves in a losing fight. There was no hesitation whatsoever in their actions.
The vicious beasts they targeted howled and cried for their mothers. They were willing to meet the enemy in battle, but how did one fight an opponent who didn’t care for their own life? No normal being self detonated when it looked like they would lose!
Although the vicious beasts didn’t possess much intelligence, they were still normal beings.
Infernum claimed half of the forbidden zone as their territory ten days after the ghostly army began sweeping through the area. The nihil powerhouses residing in the nothing finally couldn’t sit still any longer.
They knew where the invaders came from and their intent. They’d received requests of help from the three hundred and sixty-five heroes to stop Lu Yun.
And so, curtains drew back on the second world war of the Three Thousand. This time, it took place in the forbidden area rather than sanctuary.
No one exercised restraint in this zone as it was vicious beast homeland. The rules and laws in this locality were infinitely stronger than those in the fragile sanctuary. Even self detonation from a nihil powerhouse would result in only a small ripple.
The vicious beasts hadn’t dared invade sanctuary en masse and treated it as their own forbidden zone both because of the Dao King’s replica, and because it was the most fragile part of the realm. Just like the tail of Prince Rupert’s drops, the lightest tap would shatter the Three Thousand. [1]
But other than sanctuary, everywhere else in the realm was indestructible.
And so, a war that was thousands of times more magnificent than the one before started in the forbidden zone.

Thousands of nihil powerhouses strode through the void and rushed vicious beast Infernum. In response, the Yama Kings, Ox-Head, Horse-Face, and Black and White Impermanence withdrew from the battlefield. They utilized the Size Manipulation death art to observe from the shadows.
The Infernum would not be obliterated as long as they remained on the scene. They could leave the rest to their minions.
However, a profoundly heart-shaking melody of self detonation soon rang through the battlefield.
The newly arrived nihil powerhouses didn’t have time to react and assess the situation before they were blindsided by a round of explosions.
At the same time, they weren’t vicious beasts. Not only did they possess nihil level strength, they also wielded stunning treasures. The detonations injured them, some to the point of grave wounds, but very few died.
Only those closest to the self detonations were turned into Infernum. Lu Yun took full advantage of the opportunity and baptized them with the power of reincarnation, turning them into yin soldiers.
“I already have Ox-Head, Horse-Face, and Black and White Impermanence… These guys can’t be the judges or Meng Po. How about I make them Wang Chao, Ma Han, Zhang Long, and Zhao Hu?” he murmured to himself.
“Husband, aren’t those the four loyal constables serving Judge Bao?” Standing by Lu Yun’s side, the little fox looked at him with surprise. [2]
The little fox often visited Earth and had gained a full understanding of some of Earth’s myths and legends. Even though tens of thousands of years had passed on Earth, she could easily investigate the folklore of Lu Yun’s time if she wanted to.
She didn’t mean anything else by it, she just wanted to understand his past more.
“Well… um… I suck at naming, so let’s just call them that!” Lu Yun scratched his head sheepishly.
And so, the four latest Infernum were named Wang Chao, Ma Han, Zhang Long, and Zhao Hu. He couldn’t bear to let precious soldiers such as nihil powerhouses self detonate!
