Xiao Jing looked like he was genuinely concerned for Wu Hai’s well-being.
He swept another glance over the Shanna OrchestraasWu Hai’s expression darkened.
How could he have thought that someone from Yunmei Orchestrawas nice and magnanimous? He should have taken those rumors to heart, after all.
Xiao Jing might not be as hot-tempered as they said, but he certainly had a razor tongue that rippedWu Haito shreds.
If Wu Haicould turn back time, he would have never spoken toXiao Jingin the first place.
“Senior Xiao Jing, you have my utmost respect because I regard you as my model and my inspiration,” he said bitterly. “But here you are, dragging our team’s morale down when you know very well that we will be competing tomorrow. How can you be so callous toward your juniors?”
All the excitement he felt when he had first seen Xiao Jingwas now replaced with anger and indignation.
Even so, Wu Haidid his best to appear calm and reasonable when he spoke.
At the end of the day, no matter what Xiao Jingsaid or did, he was still someone they couldn’t afford to offend.
“But weren’t you doing the same thing to the Glory Orchestrajust now?”Yao Tanginterjected.
She walked forward with a mocking look on her face. “I wonder what you were thinking when you mocked and taunted us.”
Sure enough, the people of the Shanna Orchestrawasted no time insulting their rivals.
“That’s right! They had no qualms about being cruel to others, but they can’t even stand it when they are on the other end of the stick. What kind of monsters act like that?”
“Shameless hypocrites, that’s what.”
“Maybe they’ve never heard of the phrase, ‘wheel of fortune’. They probably thought they will come out as winners all the time. The way I see it, Senior Xiao Jingis right. TheShanna Orchestrawill ultimately lose tomorrow.”
The moment they saw an opening, the Glory Orchestradidn’t hesitate to give their rivals a taste of their own medicine.
None of them had expected Xiao Jingto teach theShanna Orchestraa lesson there and then. He was even clever about it, too, spinning them in circles before dealing the final blow! It was hilarious.
As things stood, the odds were in the Glory Orchestra’s favor.
The people of Shanna Orchestrahad no choice but to swallow their curses and receive the verbal lashing with grace. They did not dare to retaliate inXiao Jing’s presence.
Even Wu Haiheld his tongue.
He told himself that while he had appeared unseemly in front of his beloved senior, everyone knew that he had done it for the sake of his team.
If the stories were to be trusted, then Xiao Jing put great value on the overall unity and honor of a team. In that case, wouldn’t he eventually hold Wu Hai in high regard for his efforts today?
Unfortunately for Wu Hai,Xiao Jinghad no plans to treat him well whatsoever. He shunned theShanna Orchestrajust as quickly as he had befriended them.
Xiao Jing walked past them and approachedYao Tangwith a cheery expression.
“Long time no see, Captain Yao. From now on, you’re not allowed to blacklist me anymore!”
As he spoke of getting blacklisted, his tone changed from bright to sullen.
Yao Tang had blocked him simply because she found him annoying, and they both knew she had undone it only because she needed something from him. She was a ruthless go-getter like that.
Xiao Jing told himself that if she pulled off the same trick on him in the future, he would never come to her rescue again.
He was confident that he wouldn’t be persuaded or coaxed in any way.
Yao Tang nodded in casual acknowledgment. It was still up to her whether to block this bothersome brat or not. It wasn’t as if he could do much about it.
For now, however, she would have to nod along and agree.
Xiao Jing narrowed his eyes. He couldn’t shake off the nagging feeling thatYao Tangwasn’t being sincere.
To his credit, he knew that he couldn’t force her to do something she didn’t want, either.
He pursed his lips and tried to blink away his resentment.
Yao Tang clicked her tongue when she saw this. “What’s wrong with your eyes? Are they cramping?”
Xiao Jing was both miffed and incredulous at her question. Ridiculously enough, he kept blinking in disbelief.
Before he knew it, he was spitting out the word, “Yes!”
“Rest your eyes, then. Minimize the time you spend on your phone.”
Xiao Jing gritted his teeth. He felt an overwhelming desire to crack her head open and pick at her brain. Maybe then he could figure her out.
He immediately dismissed the thought, of course. He wasn’t brave enough to challenge Yao Tangwith words, let alone his actions.
Besides, it was more likely for her to crack his skull open before he could even do anything to her.
