Xu Ye did not show any signs of waking up along the way. He seemed to be experiencing some pain as he kept mumbling in his sleep. His words were unclear and he kept breaking out in cold sweat.
Everyone, including Chi Jiao, was worried about him. They waited by his bed for more than an hour before he finally woke up.
“No, no! No!!” Xu Ye seemed to be having a nightmare. He jolted awake and sat up straight. His forehead was covered in sweat from fear.
“Xu Ye, are you alright? You don’t have to be afraid. We are all here with you.” Chi Jiao went forward and quickly comforted him.
Xu Ye heaved a sigh of relief when he saw her. He was so excited that he wanted to hug her. “Jiaojiao—!”
However, Quan Jue had already taken a step forward and pulled her into his arms before Xu Ye could touch a strand of Chi Jiao’s hair. He punched him in the head.
Xu Ye screamed like a pig being slaughtered. “Quan Jue! Are you crazy?!”
“You don’t look too clear-headed, so I especially helped knock some clarity into you. How is it? You should be wide awake now, right?” Quan Jue said with a fake smile as he protected Chi Jiao with one hand.
Xu Ye wanted to touch Jiaojiao in front of him? He was probably tired of living.
Beitang Lie and Pei Yao exchanged glances. They suspected that Quan Jue was taking revenge with that punch.
Xu Ye groaned in pain. He gritted his teeth and glared at him. “Just you wait!”
“Alright, stop fooling around. Xu Ye, how are you feeling now? Do you know what happened?” Chi Jiao looked at him with concern.
Xu Ye’s dissatisfaction dissipated upon seeing that she was concerned about him. “I remember seeing a man in white on the rooftop. He called me Xi’er, but I don’t remember anything after that.”
“A man in white?” Chi Jiao asked. She and everyone else turned to look at Beitang Lie.
At that time, only Beitang Lie and Xu Ye were on the rooftop. Beitang Lie never told them about a man in white.
Beitang Lie was even more dumbfounded. He shook his head helplessly. “Don’t look at me. I don’t know anything about a man in white.”
“Didn’t you check the surveillance cameras? Did you see any men in white?” Chi Jiao asked.
Pei Yao shook her head. “The cameras on the rooftop showed only Beitang Lie and Xu Ye. There were no men in white.”
“It might be an illusion because of Bai Wanxi’s remnant consciousness.” The little heart explained.
“By the way, how’s Bai Wanxi? How long have I been asleep?” Xu Ye rubbed his brows tiredly. “I turned back into Bai Wanxi in my dream. She kept running away, and her despair affected me. It’s too uncomfortable.”
“What a coincidence. You became Bai Wanxi in your dream. Bai Wanxi also occupied your body,” Quan Jue said coldly.
Xu Ye looked up in surprise. He couldn’t digest Quan Jue’s words for a moment. “What do you mean by Bai Wanxi occupying my body? Did something happen while I was unconscious?”
