For the next few days, Quan Jue and Chi Jiao worked day and night.
Quan Jue stayed up for two days and nights to revise the game’s ending and create a trial version. He would let Mr. Oster test it himself when it was ready.
After doing all of that, the two of them rushed home, showered, and rested for the night.
Chi Mingwei finally saw his precious daughter return home. The next morning, he woke up at seven in the morning and went to the dining room to have breakfast with Chi Jiao.
Chi Mingwei couldn’t hide his smile as he walked down the stairs. Seeing Shen Xing sitting alone at the dining table, he asked, “Are Jiaojiao and Quan Jue still sleeping? These two lazy pigs…”
Shen Xing took a bite of its sandwich, its mouth full. “They’ve already left.”
Chi Mingwei felt as if he had been struck by lightning. The smile on his lips froze as he asked in disbelief, “It’s only seven o’clock! Where did they go?”
“Country H. They left on a helicopter at five o’clock this morning.” Shen Xing swallowed its sandwich. It raised its hand and made a flying motion.
Chi Mingwei was furious.
How could Quan Jue be so heartless?
He had been looking forward to seeing Chi Jiao for the past couple of days. His precious daughter had finally returned home!
However, Quan Jue brought her away again before he could even have breakfast with her!
Everyone said that a married daughter was like water that had been thrown out. But Chi Jiao wasn’t even married yet. Would he never have the chance to see her again?
Fortunately, Shen Xing was still around. It jumped down from the chair and pulled him to sit down. It then snatched half of Chi Mingwei’s sandwich before shoving the other half into his hand.
Chi Mingwei wasn’t in the mood to make a fuss about the sandwich. He ate as if he was chewing wax. After breakfast, he went to work in a daze.
That afternoon, at a high-end horse farm in Country H.
A middle-aged man in his forties with blonde hair and blue eyes. Although he was over 40, he had maintained himself very well. He looked energetic in his riding clothes.
Mr. Oster rode on his beloved horse, but the black horse suddenly stumbled.
“Whoa—!” Mr. Oster quickly pulled the reins to steady himself.
“Sir! Sir, are you alright?” Mr. Oster’s secretary, Greg, hurried forward to check on him.
“I’m fine. But what happened to Lightning? It’s so antsy.” Mr. Oster dismounted and stroked his beloved horse with a soothing hand.
The black horse seemed to understand that it made a mistake. It rubbed its head against Mr. Oster ingratiatingly.
Mr. Oster didn’t mind. He patted Lightning’s body and frowned. “It has lost a lot of weight.”
“After Snow White died, Lightning rarely ate or drank. It was unwilling to come out and move around. It’s only because you are here today that it was willing to come out. Otherwise, Lightning would flare up whenever we tried to approach it.” The stable groom’s eyes turned red as he spoke.
Snow White was Lightning’s partner and Mrs. Oster’s beloved horse.
Ever since Mrs. Oster passed away, Snow White stopped eating and drinking. In just ten days, it was found dead in its stable.
