“Let go of me! You’re hurting me!” Lu Xinyi resisted but failed to free herself.
“Not until you listen to me!” Gong Yijun insisted.
“Let her go.” Xiao Lan warned. She can’t just watch Lu Xinyi being hurt by someone.
“Stay out of this woman!” Gong Yijun pushed her hard and Xiao Lan fell on the ground.
“Xiao Lan!” Lu Xinyi was horrified when she saw her new friend assaulted by her ex. “You bastard! I will never forgive you!” she shouted on his face.
Stunned by her words, Gong Yijun released her arm. Lu Xinyi stepped back and help Xiao Lan back on her feet.
“I’m okay.” Xiao Lan assured her, wiping the dirt from her clothes.
“What should I do to make you forgive me?” he asked. His eyes looked around them before gripping both sides of his head. “I know! Marry me!”
Lu Xinyi stared at her delusional ex-boyfriend before laughing. What kind of joke was that?
“Yijun…” Lu Xinyi turned her head to the voice she can recognize anywhere. The three of them saw Meng Jiao frozen on her spot with wide eyes. She probably heard her man’s confession to his ex-girlfriend.
“While would I lower my standards to marry someone like you?” Lu Xinyi taunted her ex. Now that the truth had been revealed, she finally got a peace on her mind. “Didn’t you know my husband is more capable than you? There’s no better man for me except him.”
Lu Xinyi then faced her ex-best friend who broke her heart. Meng Jiao may not realized it but she cried harder knowing it was her own friend that became the third party on her previous relationship.
“Did you hear it? How does it feel to be cheated by a man you took from another woman?” Lu Xinyi grinned. She will never allow them to hurt her again. Once is enough, Twice is too much, and Thrice is Stupidity!
“He even proposed to me just now. How’s that?” she continued.
“Shut up! Yijun chose me, Xinyi so get lost!” Meng Jiao turned up her head but Lu Xinyi already noticed her trembling for. Meng Jiao was trying hard not to cry in front of her.
“Meng Jiao, you were my best friend.” the tone on Lu Xinyi’s voice slightly softened. She knew in her heart that she still cares about her old friend. “You’re a woman yourself, how could you destroy other woman’s life while women are supposed to support each other? If he can cheat me, who can guarantee he won’t cheat on you?” ρꪖꪕᦔꪖꪕꪫꪣꫀꪶ
“You…” Meng Jiao was vexed by Lu Xinyis’s word but she didn’t know what to say. Wasn’t it her greatest fear? That Gong Yijun will throw her aside and come back to Lu Xinyi?
“Mind your own business, Lu Xinyi!” Meng Jiao said fiercely. She cannot let Lu Xinyi get the last words.
So what if she didn’t came from a wealthy family? She was more beautiful, more popular and intelligent than Lu Xinyi. She’d never understand why Gong Yijun chose Lu Xinyi when they were in high school.
With that, she stepped forward and slapped Lu Xinyi on her face without saying a word.
“Meng Jiao! What the hell are you doing?!”
Gong Yijun immediately pulled her away from Lu Xinyi. This woman was ruining his plans. He still needed Lu Xinyi and he couldn’t let her go away from him easily.
Slowly, very slowly Lu Xinyi faced the woman who dared to hit her. Her eyes were dangerously cold that made Meng Jiao thought she was facing another woman and not Lu Xinyi who was timid and hated confrontations like this. How could she put up a fight against her now?
Lu Xinyi lifted her left hand and use the back of her hand to return Meng Jiao’s attack. Her wedding ring abraded against Meng Jiao’s beautiful face. Surprised by the intensity of Lu Xinyi’s slap, Meng Jiao staggered backward and tried to regain her balance, her fingers traced the shallow wound on her cheek.
“You will reap what you sow, Meng Jiao.” Lu Xinyi said coldly. “I must congratulate you, you just have won an unfaithful man. Now, could you please disappear from my life? You can have him. My parents always taught me to give my used toys to the less fortunate. Had I not found about you, I would have still thought that he really loves me.”
Lu Xinyi lead back Xiao Lan on her car and sat silently on her seat. She was ashamed that those two aired their dirty laundry in public. She hoped that Xiao Lan wouldn’t see her in a bad light.
They left the parking lot in silence and when they arrived at Shen Yi’s house, Xiao Lan couldn’t stop the grin on her face.
“That was awesome, Xinyi! Now, I know why Shen Yi was head over heels for you!” She tapped the steering wheel before turning to the corner to park her car. She got the perfect picture of what was happening when Lu Xinyi argued with that woman she had no idea who was. “You’re capable of defending yourself and can be bold when the situation called for such.”
Lu Xinyi winced when she touched the bruise on her arm. It was throbbing in pain but she could only grimace whenever she was dealing with pain. Oh, she was sure Shen Yi will get mad once he sees the bruised on her skin but that didn’t matter, somehow she didn’t have any regrets when she confronted Meng Jiao earlier.
Her heart wasn’t broken now. Shen Yi had taken all the pieces of her shattered heart and fixed it for her. Because of Meng Jiao, she can now pursue her real happiness with her new husband.
