When Qiao He picked up his boss from his home, he didn’t expect that he will see Shen Yi conversing with a woman. He knew then that it was Lu Xinyi, the woman he’d been investigating since Friday night.
Driving his boss to the skyscraper which was owned by the Shen family, Qiao He pulled the car into the parking lot. His long legs tried to follow closely behind Shen Yi as they stepped to the private elevator.
He took a quick glance to his boss wondering why did he marry one of the granddaughters of the Sun family. Shen Yi wasn’t planning to have a world war 3 with the Sun family, right?
Based on his investigation, Lu Xinyi was the only daughter of the fourth miss of the Sun family, Sun Meixiu. Sun Meixiu was the estranged daughter, an outcast of her own family. She was maligned, misunderstood, and marginalized when she was alive. She had been the family’s disappointment; the one who didn’t measure up athletically or socially except academically.
Her relationship with her family came to worst when she rejected the arranged marriage that was set up for her and instead married a commoner. Three years later, Sun Meixiu gave birth to a baby girl who decades later became Shen Yi’s wife.
It wasn’t a big secret that the Shen and the Sun family aren’t on good terms. In fact, there were several instances that the two families collided whether if it is in regard to business deals or charity events.
But for Shen Yi to take Lu Xinyi as his wife even if she was a Sun by blood… Qiao He wondered if Shen Yi isn’t afraid of the repercussions.
The elevator dinged, the doors slid open. Shen Yi stepped outside and Qiao He followed while giving his boss the agenda and his appointment for the day.
“Your meeting with Mr. Lian was rescheduled at 1 PM at the Amusing Plate Patisserie.” Qiao He said in a hurry.
Shen Yi stopped and turned around to face him.
“Amusing Plate Patisserie?”
Wasn’t that the place where his wife was working? Lu Xinyi said she will resign today. ρꪖꪕᦔꪖꪕꪫꪣꫀꪶ
“Yes. they asked if we can meet him there since it is the closest one where he could meet you.”
‘Interesting.’ Shen Yi was curious what kind of place Lu Xinyi works. Maybe he could meet with her later if she was still there.
As soon as Shen Yi opened the door of his office, they were greeted with yelling.
“I don’t care! I don’t wanna go there. If you want to seal that contract, I’m not the person you should send to that place.” A sharp, very angry and familiar voice echoed within the room.
“Your brother just came back from his vacation, do you really want to send him away again?” a brusque voice snapped back. It was clear to hear that Shen Yi’s father and his brother are arguing again.
“Too loud.” Shen Yi complained as he walked towards his desk and threw his case on his seat. “What are you arguing about now?”
“How’s your vacation?” His father asked, ignoring his question.
Shen Yi shrugged and started to turn on his own laptop. He wasn’t about to tell him that he met Lu Xinyi and married her as soon as they came back from the cruise.
“You need to relax. You really don’t have to start working today. You’re working yourself into an early grave. How could you meet your destined wife if you keep yourself isolated in this room?”
Why would he go out and find another woman if he already has Lu Xinyi on his side? Would it be too much if he asks his family to leave him alone and do whatever he wants in his life?
Sitting behind his desk, Shen Yi started working again. There was a ton of paperwork and proposals to read and to analyze. He wasn’t certain if Shen Xue did his part but nevertheless, he decided to take a look at each paper. He still had three hours to work on it before he could see his wife again if she was still there.
Ignoring his father and his father arguing within his own office when they could do it outside, Shen Yi focused on his work, his fingers flew over his keyboard. His eyes read every document on his desk and made a few business calls.
“Your brother doesn’t want to go to City H. Do you want to go and meet the clients?” His father asked.
Oh, they were arguing about another business trip again? Well, he could understand why Shen Xue didn’t want to go. City H’s weather got a hot and humid weather condition, something everyone should expect because it was a popular beach and tourist spot.
Shen Yi wondered if Lu Xinyi would mind to accompany him to another business trip.
