Zhou Huaijin frowned deeply.
He did not want Chaoyan to take such a risk by getting close to the dangerous things, but he was going to respect her.
Gu Chaoyan consoled him. “Don’t worry. It will be fine. I just want to see what is going on here.”
Zhou Huaijin hesitated, but he still nodded.
The hidden guards, who seemed a bit hesitant too, still opened the door.
Gu Chaoyan walked in fearlessly. Seeing her entering, Zhou Huaijin followed. He was going to let Chaoyan see what she needed to see, but he was definitely going to keep her safe.
Gu Chaoyan squatted down as she walked in.
Those things were not at all alive.
They were just like people who were petrified, totally invulnerable. What was more, they were covered by metal! A couple of things like this had already given people a lot of trouble, what if there were a group of them! Gu Chaoyan just could not believe what would happen by that point.
Gu Chaoyan checked them thoroughly.
She did not know how those things were controlled to hurt people, after seeing that they were just things without any sign of life.
Those things were not moving at all, as they were checked.
It was not until Gu Chaoyan gave up and shook her head, that the two of them stood up.
They walked out in disappointment.
Gu Chaoyan thought for a while and asked. “Are we able to remove some metal from them?”
Zhou Huaijin nodded. He had not thought about this before, but it sounded like a good one.
Someone from Shadow Door was able to handle this.
He nodded. “Yes, but we may need some time.”
Gu Chaoyan let out a sigh of relief.
Nothing else needed to be checked at the moment. The key point was to see what the metal on them was so that some riddles might be able to be solved.
However, at this moment, they had no the slightest clue.
Both of them became rather distressed.
Zhou Huaijin decided not to let Chaoyan stay at Shadow Door, since everyone looked very busy with their own business and looked very serious.
They went into the wagon and headed back to Xinlin Mansion.
On the way to the mansion, Gu Chaoyan had been speechless, as she kept thinking about the whole thing.
She found that things were becoming very complicated on this continent. It seemed that the throne and the conflicts between the four countries suddenly seemed so minor – there were other beings that were more difficult to deal with.
Maybe Destiny Monk would know something. Maybe it was related to the Phoenix Girl he once mentioned.
Gu Ruxue was definitely not the Phoenix Girl, but could the Pheonix Girl really be a girl?
What she had known so far was that it was her phoenix that was able to cause the gathering of hundreds of birds, and it was the phoenix that had made all so-called Phoenix Girls possible.
As far as she believed, maybe the phoenix was the Phoenix Girl after all!
She wondered what the phoenix could do…
She had not yet discovered what the phoenix could do.
Gu Chaoyan had been thinking about this on the way home, but when they reached Xinlin Mansion, Zhou Huaijin helped her off the wagon.
The couple walked into the mansion and Gu Chaoyan started to get a little tired.
Zhou Huaijin asked Fu Bao to fetch some snacks for her.
Gu Chaoyan was slightly less exhausted after some pastry and tea, when Zhou Huaijin walked in and showed a gentle smile.
He took a seat next to her and said, “I have a gift for you.”
