Zhu Lin was fixated on Yao Tang. She clasped her hands together and stared at her for a very long time, looking like a child who was begging her mother to give her a chance. No one had ever seen the normally-elegant woman act like this before.
However, Yao Tang could only shake her head in response.
“I can understand.” Zhu Lin sighed. “It must be difficult to contact such a famous designer to even commission such a piece. I should have expected that you would not have a duplicate.”
When the people around her heard it, they fell into another round of discussion.
“The necklace is that precious? Miss Yao Tang must have invested a lot into it.”
“But if it was really precious, how could Yao Tang give it away like that? They must be really good friends.”
“If it were me, I would’ve kept that treasure all to myself.”
“From the looks of it, Yao Ran’s gift is nothing compared to hers.”
“Wow, Yao Tang must be rich! She must also be quite influential to acquire a necklace as valuable as this one.”
“Miss Qin must be incredibly happy. While many of her gifts are exquisite, none of them are as unique as the one she is holding right now.”
Their discussions now echoed across the hall, and Yao Ran’s face became darker and darker. Her fingernails dug even deeper into her palms as she struggled to clench her fists.
Her eyes watered.
“The only reason her gifts are worth that much is that she’s been hooking up with old men everywhere! Shouldn’t she feel embarrassed that she’s spending the money she had earned from selling her body? Doesn’t that make the cash dirty?”
Qin Man scowled.
“What?”
“Yao Tang sold her body?”
“I don’t think she’s that kind of a person.”
“Yeah, that’s impossible!”
They stared at Yao Tang in disbelief. How could a person this strong-willed actually sell herself just to buy this expensive jewelry? Who would even do such a thing?
“Maybe they are lying. That’s why they’re trying to gain face.”
“Ergh, how pathetic!”
“They’re all liars!”
Everyone snorted, rolling their eyes at the pair.
Qin Man, however, still wouldn’t back down. “Yao Tang, why don’t you tell them yourself?” she snapped. “Don’t you have the Diamond Card from Tian Run Mall? Didn’t you use that same card to chase us out?”
“Why won’t you just admit it?”
Yao Ran stared at her helplessly. “You’re still incredibly young. If you turn back now, it’s still not too late. Please…please don’t subject yourself to such ridicule.”
“Not only is she prostituting herself, but she’s also bragging about it.” Qin Man rolled her eyes. “That girl has absolutely no hope.”
The mother-and-daughter pair leaned against each other, staring everyone down. At this point, even the crowd was doubting their own thoughts of the young woman.
“Could I be wrong about Yao Tang?”
“Maybe we judged her too soon?”
“I mean, there are people who would do anything for the money. Who’s to say Yao Tang isn’t one of those people?”
“I don’t want to believe it but…”
“Hey, do you remember Yao Tang had gone viral from that school forum? I mean, it was deleted, but…maybe it had some truth to it, don’t you think?”
Suspicion rested in everyone’s hearts as they stared at Yao Tang almost warily.
From what they heard, this young woman lived in the countryside her entire life. There was no way she could buy such a precious necklace, much less have the first edition design copy from the designer himself!
The thought itself was ridiculous!
Yao Ran smiled.
Qin Man also tilted her head in satisfaction. Let’s see how Yao Tangwould turn things around for herself!
