Fu Ling who didn't need to be told about inviting his partner for the grand party did so. He invited Xiulan over for the party. He didn't let her spend her money on her outfit, instead, he hired a stylist to get her ready for the day.
It was a way of rewarding her for her efforts.
Xiulan was beginning to feel uncomfortable with her role as Fu Ling's 'girlfriend' because she was starting to have real feelings for him and it hurt that she couldn't tell him and it didn't look like he cared.
Being reminded of the party she had to attend the next day, Xiulan who was given a day off used it to sort her feelings and emotions in order to remain sane throughout the whole celebration the next day.
Back at the Fu residence which was bustling with activities, Jasmine who had not let her mother take a break for the entire day came to pull her away from the kitchen.
"Mummy, I want to pee!" Jasmine shouted as she ran into the very busy kitchen.
Jia Li whose hands were stained with flour glanced at her adorable little daughter who seemed very annoying to her at this point.
"Jasmine, go and find your daddy or your aunties, I'm very busy."
Just as Jia Li finished speaking to her, Mei walked into the kitchen in a hurry. It looked like Jasmine had slipped away under her watch.
Mei apologized to Jia Li who didn't blame her for a little moment of carelessness. As Mei tried to take the little girl's hand and lead her out of the kitchen, the little bun hid her arms behind her and ran to hug her mother's legs.
"Mummy take me." She requested.
There was no problem with Mei helping her out with the bathroom break but this little bun wanted to steal some of her mother's time, so she insisted that she followed her.
Jia Li had no choice but to wash her hands and leave the kitchen with the little girl who seemed very happy.
"Tomorrow is great grandpa's birthday and a few of his friends from the military are coming over tonight. I have to help out in the kitchen." Jia Li said as she took her up the stairs and straight to their bedroom.
"Just like grandpa?" Jasmine asked in her cute voice.
Her grandfather, Fu Wei was in the military and has seen him in his uniform on some occasions, so whenever the word 'Military or army' was mentioned, she would associate it with her grandfather.
"Yes, like grandfather." Jia Li replied.
Jia Li did not return to the kitchen again as she was held up by the little girl who refused to let her go. She also didn't want to sleep. At last, Jia Li had to ask her to help out with some chores.
There were a big bunch of vegetables to pick outside, so Jia Li took Jasmine with her and showed her how to pluck the vegetables. At first, Jasmine was being a little wasteful since it was her first time but as she continued, she got better with it.
Each time she plucked the vegetable and it came out whole, she would show off her success to her mother. She did that a few times until she got accustomed to her success, then she stopped making reports to her mother.
After the little bun's hard work, she was rewarded with a delicious smoothie, which she tried sharing with Paco but her mother intervened in time.
The evening of the same day, Grandfather Fu's friends from the military arrived and were hosted by the Fu family, before they were driven back to their hotel rooms.
The Fu family equally had a sumptuous dinner. Jia Li didn't want the little bun to overfeed herself so she lied to her in a funny way.
She put a moderate quantity of food on her plate and passed it to her. Seeing the frown on her face while staring at her food, Jia Li quickly said to her, "I left some food for Paco, wouldn't you have loved to share your food with him?"
Since Paco was mentioned, the little girl was successfully deceived. She would always love to share her food with her favorite pet.
Jia Li sighed in relief as her trick worked, by the rest of the family members chuckled softly.
"Jia Li, when is her next appointment with her doctor?" Fu Hee asked in concern. The little girl's diet and health were of great importance.
"In 2 weeks." Jia Li replied.
"That's great! Our family doctor will come to check on all of us next month. It's good to keep track of our health." Fu Hee said with a smile before continuing with her dinner.
Before the next day, the news of grandfather's Grand birthday party was the subject of attention. Literally, everyone in Country C was talking about it.
Those who knew a lot about him and the Fu family had a lot to say as most of them wished him a happy birthday in advance.
The next day, grandfather Fu's birthday party kicked of by 4 in the evening. The venue was of course the Fu Mansion, as there was more than enough space for their guests.
There was no dignitary you couldn't think of, that wasn't around, as long he or she has had a relationship with Grandfather Fu.
Truly, Grandfather was not only a symbol of authority in his home but also across the country and beyond. He was truly a man of great value.
The guests that were given invites were people that have contributed in one way or the other to society.
Grandfather Fu's birthday was Grand with a lot of guests. And it was surely not your regular kind of party.
Dressed in his traditional outfit, Grandfather gave a speech and arete which a gun salute was made.
Men and women of power, importance and great value clapped and cheered in their numbers.
From politicians, military, professionals, World leaders to Businessmen and women, were in attendance.
This was truly a birthday of a rare kind.. Grandfather Fu surely deserved all these merits because this was his first time after so many years of his wife's passing, that he was celebrating his birthday.
