However, the problem was that the person who’d canceled the booking had been given a suite, and she hadn’t.
Since the organizer was the one who decided on who could stay in a suite and who should stay in a normal room, it meant that the person was much more important to them than Yu Yixian.
The thought of her status being lower than someone else angered the actress.
The representative noticed the reaction and quickly explained, “It’s not what you think. The people who were supposed to stay in the suite decided to stay in the Presidential Suite instead. The $90,000 a night one…”
There was nothing more he could tell her as that was the only thing he had learned from the receptionist.
Yu Yixian did not learn who they were either, as no matter how big of fans the receptionists were, they could never expose the identity of their customers. Their professional ethics were holding them back from telling her.
“Fine. I’ll take the suite then.” After a few seconds of silence, Yu Yixian finally sighed and nodded.
After they’d finished checking into the hotel, the two assistants dragged the luggage and followed Yu Yixian into the elevator.
Once they were alone, Yu Yixian finally exploded. “Sh*t! What a bad day! This is just so frustrating. And what’s up with Liu Jingping? How can he refuse to help with my makeup just because he already has another job lined up? Didn’t you guys make sure he was free today before calling him?”
“We did. It’s obvious someone got to him before us.” Assistant Liu quickly pushed the responsibility away from herself.
If Yu Yixian wanted to argue, then she’d rather let the actress argue with the person who’d been able to employ Liu Jingping instead of herself.
HMPH! “Who the heck is that person then?” Yu Yixian asked and turned to order her assistants, “Hurry up and find out who she is! And find out who booked the Presidential Suite on the top floor. What a show-off!”
“Okay!” the assistants nodded.
Once Yu Yixian had settled down in her room, the two assistants quickly went on their separate ways to find out some information.
It didn’t take long for them to return one after another.
Since the makeup artist was still helping the actress put her makeup on, Assistant Liu knelt down next to her and whispered into her ear, “I just got word that Wei Zhiqian is the one who booked the Presidential Suite.”
“Wei Zhiqian?” Yu Yixian exclaimed in surprise. “He’s here?”
“It seems that he has also sponsored ‘Legend of Wei and Jin’. That’s why he got an invitation from the organizer.”
“Huh…I never thought he would be interested in the entertainment business,” Yu Yixian said as she took her phone out and looked up Wei Zhiqian online. “Oh? He’s only 25 years old? Only two years younger than I am?”
After pondering for a while, the actress turned to her other assistant and asked, “Zhao, did you find out anything about the person who hired Liu Jingping to do her makeup?”
“I did,” Assistant Zhao nodded as her colleague moved away to allow her to whisper into the actress’s ear. “Mr. Liu just arrived at the hotel not long ago. He’s working on someone called Tan Mo.”
“Tan Mo?” Yu Yixian tilted her head, causing the makeup artist to almost slip and mess the actress’s face up. “Who is she?”
“I can’t find out anything about her. It’s impossible to find out which room she’s in either. Do you know what the weirdest part is? No matter who I asked about her, no one knew who she was. I wonder how she even got Mr. Liu to agree to help with her makeup. Maybe she’s a new actress or something?”
“Well, whatever. She will definitely be at the awards anyway. We can look for her when we get there.” Yu Yixian shrugged.
On the highest floor of the hotel in the Presidential Suite, Liu Jingping had brought his own mirror with LED lights on it because he was worried that the lighting in the room could be bad. He set it up in front of Tan Mo.
“Since Ms. Tan is still young, I won’t apply heavy makeup on you. It would mask your youthfulness. Being young is always the best makeup a lady could ever need,” Liu Jingping said.
Despite that, he still had to apply layer after layer of makeup on Tan Mo. Being the best at his job meant that Liu Jingping paid attention to every detail, and it was a job that required his utmost concentration.
“However, you will still need to apply some makeup since you will appear in front of the camera. Since you’re here as a scriptwriter and since you’re studying at Beijing University, I’ll go with simple but elegant makeup.”
As a result, Liu Jingping focused most of the work on Tan Mo’s eyes.
“Your eyes are gorgeous,” he exclaimed as he continued to apply makeup on Tan Mo’s face.
After he was finished with Tan Mo’s makeup, he proceeded to help do her hair.
When everything was done, and Tan Mo came out in her dress, no one could take their eyes off her.
She was shining like an angel.
“Mo Mo is gorgeous!” Xiao Menghan exclaimed. “How I wish I had a daughter!”
Since Wei Zhiqian’s mother also wanted to see Tan Mo shine on stage, she had gone and requested an invitation from the organizer, causing them to wonder if something big was going to happen this year as various important people had been requesting invitations recently.
Xiao Menghan was going to sit next to Xu Mingzhen, while the rest of the Tan family would sit in the same row as Wei Zhiqian. The men decided to head to the venue first and left early. However, Wei Zhiqian left Zhou Jingan by Tan Mo’s side to help her.
When Tan Mo arrived at the venue, she was wearing a thick jacket over her shoulders, so she wouldn’t feel the cold. Plus, a heater was on as well.
Zhou Jingan opened the bag he’d brought and showed Tan Mo all the snacks he had prepared. “Since you can’t eat anything inside, it’s better if you fill your stomach now.”
They were all one-bite snacks, easy for Tan Mo to eat without messing her lipstick up.
“Thank you so much, Brother Jingan!” Tan Mo smiled and grabbed a few coin-sized cookies out of the bag.
Zhou Jingan’s lips twitched when Tan Mo addressed him as brother while she always addressed Wei Zhiqian as uncle. It showed that the latter was much important to her than the former.
However, no matter how much he disliked it, there was no way he could get Tan Mo to address him as uncle.
“Oh? Tan Mo? Did you bring something to eat?” Xu Miaotong approached them and asked. “Aren’t you worried that your belly might show?”
Xu Miaotong had been controlling her diet for the last few weeks. She only ate a small serving of corn, steak, raw celery, and lettuce for lunch and that was it for the day. It was so she could fit into the tight dress, and her belly wouldn’t show.
“A little should be fine. The cookies are small anyway,” Tan Mo smiled as she handed Xu Miaotong a couple of cookies. “Do you want some? We can’t eat anything inside, and it’ll be some time before the event ends.”
“T…then…I’ll have two, thank you…” Xu Miaotong was instantly tempted and carefully opened the package. “You have no idea how much I have had to suffer for this night. I’ve only had lettuce and steak for a whole month! I literally feel like puking whenever I see my meal…”
