"What…what about you, can I know a little about your childhood, and a little about your adulthood?" Jia Li asked after mustering up the courage to do so.
"There is nothing special about my life, but since you asked, I will tell you a little about it. I grew up under my grandparents' care and discipline. At that time, my father was based in another city because of the military posting. My mother couldn't bear to stay away from him for so long, so she let my grandparents take care of me and she went to join my father. Before my grandmother died, she handed FJ to me, because I had a similar vision to hers, so that's how I came to be the owner of FJ."
Hearing his childhood story from him, Jia Li came to understand the reason he is obedient to Grandfather Fu.
Nearing towards the end of their conversation, Fu Hua revealed to her.
"I have a girlfriend with who I still haven't ended things with and that's because she is not in the country. But you don't need to worry about it, I will take care of matters at my end."
Jia Li was surprised to learn of this. She never knew the man sitting beside her, had a girlfriend. She was thinking, 'Did I break up a couple?'
As if knowing what she was thinking because her facial expression said it all, Fu Hua said to her, "I didn't decide to end things with her because of you, I did that for another reason, so you don't have to worry about being the third party."
Jia Li felt at ease, otherwise, she would have been uneasy, and might even go to have a word with Grandfather Fu as she couldn't bear to come between another person's relationship.
"Oh!" Jia Li muttered under her breath.
"Would you like to go somewhere?" Fu Hua asked.
"Mmmm… no." Jia Li replied. Right now, she couldn't bear to go anywhere with him, because she was not comfortable.
She felt he lacked other important facial expressions apart from the neutral and frosty look. With all his cold countenance, how could she cope if they went to some places together?
No, she was okay with the lunch she had with him.
"I will send you back home first." Fu Hua said as he got to his feet and Jia Li immediately followed.
The drive back to the Fu House was quiet until Fu Hua broke the silence.
"Would you like me to get anything for you?" He asked with his eyes fixed on the road.
Jia Li felt that question came out of the blue because she wasn't expecting it.
"No, thanks. I'm fine." Jia Li said as she rejected him in a polite matter.
"I know this is awkward for you, but feel free to tell me what you need, I will get it for you?" Fu Hua said.
Looks like he doesn't mind spending his money on her.
When they arrived at the Fu House, Fu YingPei had just got out of his car. He sighted the red car and decided to wait.
He was surprised to see Jia Li step out from his brother's car. His was mouth was agape in shock, and as if that wasn't enough, he saw his brother step out from his car and said to Jia Li…
"Jia Li, you left your bag in the car." Fu Hua said as he raised the backpack ? so Jia Li could see it.
"I'm sorry, thank you!" Jia Li said as she went over to his side to take the bag from him.
Fu Hua locked his car and when they two turned around, they saw Fu YingPei standing in front of them.
"Wow! Brother, this is such a big surprise to see you went out with Sister-in-law." Fu YingPei said in an excited tone.
When those words left his mouth, both Jia Li and Fu Hua glanced at him.
Jia Li gave him a shy glance before lowering his head and walking away in a hurry. As for Fu Hua, he gave him a cold glance.
"Are you done playing?" He asked.
"I didn't mean to send her off. I didn't know she would feel embarrassed." Fu YingPei replied with a stunned look. He truly didn't know Jia Li would feel embarrassed because of what he said.
"You think her face is as thick as yours?" Fu Hua asked before walking away.
Fu YingPei who was a bit lost recovered himself and immediately chased after him.
"Wow! brother, when did you start getting defensive of Jia Li?" He asked as he caught up with him.
"If you continue to be a pest, I will take it that you have less work to do in your department, and I will help you to keep your remaining days occupied." Fu Hua threatened.
Fu YingPei instinctively shut his mouth. When did he ever complain that he wasn't getting enough tasks to do at work?
When Jia Li walked into her bedroom, she took out her notes from her bag ? before keeping it away. Walking back to her bed, she removed her jacket and laid on her bed with her back against it.
Thinking back to the 'date' she had with Fu Hua, she would rather spend her time at home, than going out with him and being on tenterhooks every minute, which is mentally stressful.
It's not like she had any negative thoughts towards Fu Hua, but the problem is that to her, Fu Hua was cold, and she was used to seeing that side of him.
She preferred him that way to the other character she saw at the restaurant today. She knew it would take a while for them to get used to each other, and she felt there was a long road ahead of them.
Thinking about his girlfriend, Jia Li was a bit worried, since he hasn't yet ended things with her.
But she understood he couldn't just break up with her over the phone till she is back in the country.
Sighing to herself, Jia Li decided to stop thinking about it and decided to think more of the future she would have with Fu Hua.
