“Got it,” Qin Chu replied calmly.
“President Qin, Huo Siqian is a psycho. He doesn’t see people as people. Are we really going to keep fighting him like this? More and more of our men will die, must we handle it this way?” one of his men asked daringly.
“What else can we do? Am I supposed to watch him hurt my wife and kids and do nothing about it?” Qin Chu questioned back.
The man fell silent…
“Look, I’m also sad that Misha died. Of course, it would’ve been best if she’d successfully killed Huo Siqian… but being an assassin means that you can lose your life at any moment, right?”
“You’re right, Sir.”
“Tell the others. Give Misha’s family a generous sum of money.” Qin Chu wasn’t heartless. He just didn’t want to be a sitting duck. They were too passive and his Mian almost got hurt because of it. Just thinking about it gave him shivers.
“President Qin, Misha… doesn’t have any family left,” the man replied slowly.
“If that’s the case, donate this money to a charity in Misha’s name. Bring her good karma.” Qin Chu signed his name on a big cheque.
He was never one to worry about money. The death of his assassin made him sad but in order to take out Huo Siqian, sacrifices had to be made.
– 7:30 AM in the morning –
After waking up from a much-needed nap in her office, Huo Mian washed her face and left barefaced.
When she arrived at the police station, it was 8 o’clock in the morning.
“Where’s Chief Gao?”
Gao Ran took Huo Mian to Su Yu again. She was expecting a weak and undone Su Yu, but much to her surprise, he looked much more spirited and awake than usual.
“… They’ve been treating you well for the past couple of days…” Huo Mian joked.
“Well, I can’t just give up on myself. It’s not like I murdered someone. Liu Ze doesn’t want a cash settlement so he’s saving me a lot of money. Worst comes to worst, I’ll just go abroad for a while…”
“Mian, take your time, I’m going to a meeting,” Gao Ran said.
“Okay.” Huo Mian nodded.
After Gao Ran left, Huo Mian placed a takeout box on the table.
“Wow, is this breakfast?” Su Yu couldn’t contain his happiness.
“Yup.”
“Doctor Huo, why are you being so nice today? Am I getting the electric chair or something? Is this my last meal?” Su Yu jokingly said.
“Shut up… stop talking nonsense.” Huo Mian didn’t want to hear the negative talk.
Opening up the takeout box, Su Yu felt touched… his gaze warm.
“You still remember what I like to eat,” Su Yu uttered slowly.
“Of course! I lived with your family for such a long time back when I was pregnant. How could I forget something so simple? You do know that I’m a Virgo right?” Huo Mian laughed.
Inside the takeout box were shrimp dumplings, crab steamed buns, and fried broad noodles, all Su Yu’s favorites.
Even the drinks were his favorite – raw soymilk.
“You bought too much. Doctor Huo, I can’t finish it all. Such a waste…” Su Yu mumbled as he stuffed his face.
“Uh… that’s for two, thank you very much. I haven’t eaten yet.”
“Oh…” Su Yu felt embarrassed.
Huo Mian ignored Su Yu’s embarrassment. She picked up a pair of chopsticks and began eating too.
The police station was the last place he thought he would have breakfast with Huo Mian after she left the Su Family.
What a unique experience…
“Su Yu, you’re getting out of here soon. If I’m not wrong, Liu Ze will drop the charges within two days,” Huo Mian said calmly.
“Why? You sent someone to threaten him?” Su Yu asked, also calmly.
Huo Mian almost choked on her shrimp dumpling when she heard that…
