Huo Yao tilted her head sideways and looked up when she detected him staring at her. “Yes, Brother Tingrui?”
Huo Tingrui sneered and looked away proudly.
Huo Yao was clueless about his reaction.
Song Ning looked at her second son and shook her head. He pulled this stunt all the time. Was he ever going to tire of it?
“Oh yes. Is Yanxi up?” Huo Jinyan raised his head as he asked Huo Tingrui.
“I doubt it. After all the vomiting yesterday, he probably still feels sick,” replied Huo Tingrui as he took a sip of coffee.
Huo Yao said nothing and continued eating breakfast.
Huo Jinyan nodded. “Then, go check on him later.”
“Uh huh,” acknowledged Huo Tingrui.
Before long, Huo Yao headed to school.
It felt as though Huo Yanxi had deliberately waited for her to leave before he came down soon after Huo Yao left for school.
Since Huo Yanxi got drunk last night and did not have a good sleep, he was in a bad shape.
Song Ning handed him a cup of milk and could not help reproving. “You should drink less.”
Huo Yanxi took the cup of milk and acknowledged her gently. He lowered his eyes as he drank the milk, and found it absolutely bland.
Huo Tingrui frowned when he saw his oldest brother act this way. “Are you under a lot of pressure lately?”
Huo Yanxi raised his head and replied distractedly. “I’m good.” He paused but probably felt the atmosphere was weird, so he looked left and right before he asked randomly. “Where is Dad?”
“Oh. He sent Yaoyao to school,” replied Song Ning.
Huo Yanxi clenched his hands slightly as he acknowledged his mother before lowering his head.
He recalled bumping into her when she left Huo Yulin’s room in the morning. The moment they made eye contact, her eyes instantly turned cold and he could not help feeling annoyed.
Huo Yulin had only just come home.
Huo Yanxi put down his cup before he stood up and said, “I’m going to the office.”
The moment he finished his sentence, he pulled out his chair and headed out without hesitation. From behind, it seemed as though he was trying to flee.
“Yanxi…” Song Ning looked at the door in a daze as he left.
Huo Tingrui adjusted his spectacles before he said, “He still feels awkward around her.”
Song Ning went into deep thought.
After Huo Tingrui was done with breakfast, he got up and wanted to go to work. Song Ning suddenly remembered something and slapped her forehead.
Huo Tingrui looked at her perplexedly. “Mom?”
“Oh no. I forgot about something important. A friend of mine has some legal questions for you, so come back early for dinner tonight,” said Song Ning.
Huo Tingrui narrowed his eyes quizzically. “Why can’t you get her to head to my law firm?”
Why did his mother’s friend have to come to their place?
It sounded simply strange.
Song Ning glared at him. “She is my friend. She might have something special to ask about.”
“What’s wrong with going to my law firm?” Huo Tingrui saw his mother glaring at him, so he paused mid-sentence and changed his words. “… Fine. I’ll come back early.”
His parents were the true bosses in the household. If he disagreed with either of them, they would come after him.
He could not provoke them, so he had no choice but to do as told.
Song Ning finally looked less angry. She waved her hand and told him to make himself scarce.

By the time Huo Yulin woke up, it was already slightly past 4:00 pm. The curtains in his room were tightly drawn, so it was completely dark.
He lay quietly in bed for a few minutes before he lifted the blanket and sat up in bed. He felt a lot more invigorated.
Huo Yulin massaged his shoulders a little before he walked up to the window and pulled open the curtains. Light instantly flooded the room and chased away all the darkness.
