Chimey was dangling a piece of Cane Luffa in its beak as it chattered, “Genius, treat this luffa as a piece of meat and dig in. You’ll need strength for your evolution.”
Genius’ white belly was already distended, but it could not bear to reject Chimey. It reached out its small claws to receive the Cane Luffa and started chewing on it.
When Lin Yuan saw this, his fist clenched tightly.
Although it was Genius’ evolution, it felt more like a test to Lin Yuan where he was standing at a crossroads.
If Genius’ evolution failed, Lin Yuan could go on to buy and nurture all the Hundred Questions Beasts in the world into the image of Genius. He could intentionally choose one with the same personality as Genius and thoroughly experience everything that Lin Yuan had experienced with Genius in order to shape it into Genius’ replacement. However, it would only be a rebound that Lin Yuan had turned to in a moment of weakness.
Thus, Lin Yuan would do anything to ensure that Genius’ evolution was a success.
Chimey and Genius caught sight of Lin Yuan, and Chimey flew over to land on Lin Yuan’s ear.
Chimey was very worried about Genius and tried to assure Lin Yuan.
However, when Chimey saw Lin Yuan’s face, its expression became calm. It did not want to increase Lin Yuan’s burden with its own concerns.
Genius strode confidently over to Lin Yuan’s leg and said in a child-like voice, “Yuan, I’m ready.”
Lin Yuan looked deep into Genius’ eyes and gritted his teeth to say grimly, “You can do it, Genius! I’ll be right here by your side.”
Lin Yuan summoned the Willpower Rune with limitless knowledge and wisdom.
Genius’ back leg jerked when it saw the Willpower Rune.
Even though Lin Yuan had not given any instructions, Genius took the initiative to lunge toward the Willpower Rune.
When it fused with the Willpower Rune, Genius fell to the ground. Genius’ body was glowing slightly, making its fur look even softer and its blue eyes even brighter.
Genius swayed its small head. It looked at Lin Yuan and Chimey warily and said in a child-like voice, “Yuan, I’m not in any pain—”
Before Genius could finish speaking, its three tails exploded with blood.
Immediately after, Genius’ white fur spewed a fountain of fresh blood, and it looked like something was exploding inside its body.
Even though Genius had resolved to bite the bullet and push through any pain to prevent Lin Yuan and Chimey from worrying, it had let down its guard and was severely afflicted.
It could not suppress the pitiful wail that it released.
When Lin Yuan saw what had happened to Genius, he saw red.
He activated Morbius’ Pure Land of Bliss and used its radiant cage on Genius to help it heal its damaged roots.
Next, he ordered the Gold I/Fantasy III Jasmine Lily to use Bud of Mountain Jade to use Heal on Genius.
The weakest part of cat-species feys was their tails. If their tails were evenly lightly pulled, they would experience agony.
Yet, Genius’ three tails had exploded apart.
The fountain of blood that had spewed from Genius had matted its fur.
Lin Yuan could sense a portion of Genius’ pain through their contract. This minuscule portion of the pain already made all the hair on Lin Yuan’s body stand on end.
However, this was only the tip of the iceberg for Genius.
After Genius’ first cry of pain, it had used its willpower to fight down its yowl of pain.
Thus, it had only let out gurgles.
As he watched Genius fight the immense pain, Lin Yuan could not help but shout, “Genius, if it hurts, cry out! Don’t hold back!”
Chimey, which always twittered noisily on Lin Yuan’s ear, was silent now. It was staring at Genius, and the hair next to its eyes was damp.
Genius heard Lin Yuan’s shout and finally unleashed its howls.
Its evolution was different from Chimey’s.
Chimey’s evolution had been about its bloodline. Even though Chimey’s body had turned into a crushed ball of flesh, its body would not disintegrate.
Despite Chimey losing consciousness, its evolution had continued progressing.
Unfortunately, it was not as simple for Genius.
Lin Yuan realized that when Genius was evolving to Fantasy Breed, its bloodline had not been unlocked. Instead, its spiritual energy was being strengthened.
The strengthening of Genius’ spiritual energy kept it lucid. It also made Genius’ spiritual energy even more sensitive, and it heightened its sense of pain.
Through the contract, Lin Yuan could tell that Genius’ injuries were becoming worse. He opened his Spirit Qi Imprint and Vitality Imprint without hesitation.
Since Genius’ bloodline was not being strengthened, its body was not becoming stronger.
Lin Yuan wanted to ensure that the Bud of Mountain Jade could maintain its use of Heal and would be able to work with the Pure Land of Bliss to reinvigorate Genius’ depleting vitality.
If Genius was a leaking bucket, Lin Yuan would be the faucet that continuously refilled it. Although he could not keep Genius fully filled, he would not let it run dry because it would lead to Genius’ death.
Slowly, Genius’ evolution became a tug of war.
Lin Yuan could sense that with every passing second, Genius’ spiritual energy was being evolved.
However, Lin Yuan felt no joy.
In the last two hours, Lin Yuan had pushed the Jasmine Lily to its limit in order to sustain the vitality in Genius.
Although Lin Yuan’s Spirit Qi Imprint had enough spirit qi, the Vitality Imprint was almost empty.
This made Lin Yuan anxious.
The Jasmine Lily could not stop using Heal on Genius. Once it stopped, all their efforts would have been for nothing.
Lin Yuan wanted to replenish the vitality in the Vitality Imprint.
When Chimey saw Lin Yuan’s expression, it could not help but ask, “Yuan, you’re frowning. Is Genius doing badly?”
Lin Yuan replied, “There isn’t enough vitality in the Vitality Imprint.”
