In the end, the two sacred source lifeforms could not form a contract in the clash against Lin Yuan’s soul silhouettes.
Yet, they seemed terrified of Morbius’ golden light.
The two sacred source lifeforms seemed to stick together reluctantly.
Every corner of Lin Yuan’s soul silhouette radiated rainbow light.
The movements of the two sources of rainbow light did not attack Lin Yuan’s already broken soul silhouette again.
Instead, they melded into one and entered Lin Yuan’s broken soul silhouette.
When the rainbow light scattered, the sacred source lifeforms’ shape could be seen again.
After Morbius lit up with golden light, it seemed as though all the light from the Morbius bracelet was gone.
Morbius’ weak voice sounded in Lin Yuan’s mind. “Yuan, I need to hibernate for a while.”
Morbius continued after pausing. “I’ll be hibernating longer than usual this time. I might not be able to wake up before evolving to Fantasy Breed. However, with the new sacred source lifeform formed from the two sacred source lifeforms, I can sleep without worries.”
Morbius spoke slowly as it was offering affectionate instructions.
Finally, Morbius fell into a deep slumber.
However, Lin Yuan had no idea what took place after losing consciousness.
Inside Lin Yuan’s broken soul silhouette, the sacred source lifeforms looked as though they had been praised by their betters and were in seventh heaven.
They leaped about vigorously with glee inside of the dimensional rift that had stopped evolving.
Without the support of the source-type items, the space inside the dimensional hub was about to disappear.
The unconscious Lin Yuan, Liu Jie, and Zhou Luo were spat out like pieces of garbage from the disappearing dimensional hub.
…
The black-masked, black-robed woman looked at the halted dimensional rift’s entrance with a grim expression on her face.
She suddenly realized that the woman next to her, who was wearing moon-colored long robes, had a serene expression.
The eeriness and madness of power were almost tangible.
The woman dressed in black uttered, “Oh no.”
The temper of the woman in moon-colored long robes seemed harder to deal with than the evolving dimensional rift.
“Moon Empress, since you arrived earlier, did you find out which faction is behind this dimensional rift?”
The Moon Empress stared unblinkingly at the dimensional rift, ignoring the woman in black.
She spoke with an odd coldness. “Chief Guard Ye, This Empress has not left Leaning Moon Mountain in a decade! Isn’t it a bit stupid to ask This Empress which faction is behind this?”
The Spirit Guards’ Chief Guard Night Leaning Moon immediately knew that she had misspoken.
How could I have forgotten the Moon Empress’ real temper? She’s basically a ticking time bomb! Her composed expression is nothing but a facade.
The root of the Moon Empress’s murderous intent lay in the thought that her disciple might not return alive. If that happened, ten landmasses could sink, and her rage would not be quelled in the slightest.
When the Moon Empress was done speaking, she realized that she had not received the reaction she wanted. Her brows furrowed, but she still did not turn to look at Night Leaning Moon.
“Night Leaning Moon, as the Chief Guard of the Spirit Guards, how could you have only sensed such a monumental incident happening right outside Indigo Azure City after so long?”
The Moon Empress’ voice got stuck in her throat.
Night Leaning Moon stood rooted to the ground. The present situation seemed extremely familiar.
20 years ago, when the Moon Empress and I were part of the Radiance Envoy, it was like the Moon Empress was in front while the other three disgusting men and I were at the back. The three disgusting men and I were constantly punished like we were naughty schoolchildren.
20 years later, the only difference is that the three gross men are now gone. The Moon Empress might have said she wanted me here to preside over the situation, but she might as well have summoned me to vent her anger on. This is torturous!
When she heard the sudden choke in the Moon Empress’ voice, Night Leaning Moon, who knew the Moon Empress very well, lifted her head violently.
She noticed a subtle redness in the Moon Empress’ eyes, but it was a gaze that was empty of murderous intent.
The Moon Empress’ murderous intent would only be exhibited through her powers and would not be present on her face.
Normally, it would be surprising for her face to betray any sort of expression.
Now, the redness that had welled up in her eyes reminded Night Leaning Moon of what the Moon Empress had said at the imperial court council while looking at her hand.
She now knew what the Moon Empress meant by “I’m different from who I was before. I’m soft-hearted now.”
Night Leaning Moon took two steps toward the Moon Empress, but she could not decide on the right words of assurance to say.
At that moment, the Moon Empress realized that the dimensional rift’s entrance had vanished.
This sight stunned the ever-calm Moon Empress.
The diminished entrance of the dimensional rift ejected items in a similar fashion to diarrhea before closing for good.
The Moon Empress instantly spotted the bloodied and feeble Lin Yuan on the ground.
In a flash, the Moon Empress was by Lin Yuan’s side. When she saw Lin Yuan’s hands, her face twisted with heartache and worry.
A moonbeam flowed out of the Moon Empress’s fingers. Her expression changed again and again as she checked up on Lin Yuan’s condition.
When she was done with her assessment, the Moon Empress’ face spread into a smile.
Her smile blossomed like flowers.
Her smile seemed to lay all her worries at rest. She sighed and said, “As long as you’re back. As long as you’re back.”
The Moon Empress turned and looked at the sad-looking rabbit squatting by her leg and lifted it into her arms.
“Give me your carrot, Xixi.”
The rabbit gingerly handed over its carrot to the Moon Empress.
At the same time, it stretched out its long ears toward the carrot skin that was peeling upward.
It seemed reluctant despite its resolve.
The Moon Empress snapped the carrot in half with one strong wrench.
The loud snap floored the rabbit in the Moon Empress’s arms, and it resembled the famous painting ‘The Scream’.
