Qiao Qing frowned slightly, “I thought I told him there’s no need?”
Qi Feng was terrified she wanted to return the goods so he jumped to the window.
“Ms. Qiao will need to ask the Sect Leader about that personally. The Sect Leader also said that he refuses to take it back. If Ms. Qiao doesn’t want this, toss it in the trash instead of giving it back to the Jing Sect. Anyway, I’ve delivered the gifts and I will need to go back. Finally, Ms. Qiao, happy birthday!”
Then, he did another flip and jumped out of the window.
Qiao Qing stared at the delicately wrapped boxes and remembered the gown Jun Yexuan had given her earlier in the day. She debated.
After some time, she dialed the internal line through the phone and asked for butler Chen.
Before long, Chen Ming walked in, “Miss, what can I do for you?”
Qiao Qing tapped on her desk, “Put all these in my room.”
Chen Ming nodded, “Yes, miss.”
For the rest of the day, Qiao Qing couldn’t get into the books she was reading.
When night fell, she walked to that zither of hers.
She plucked at a string to test out the tone, then her fingers traced the carvings on the zither. Instantly, she felt calmer.
Back in her room, Qiao Qing stared at the two sets of boxes, a little out of it.
She opened Jun Yexuan’s gift first. The gown in the white box.
When she opened it, she saw a red gown neatly folded inside.
She lifted the dress – its material was silky smooth, light and flawless.
The modern design of the dress was beautiful and extravagant, bold and forward.
Even though she hasn’t put it on, she could tell it emitted the demeanor of a queen.
One had to admit that he knew her likes and dislikes to the tee.
“Oh my god! This is beautiful!” A complimentary voice arose from behind as He Wanqing entered.
“This must be the dress from little Xuan? His taste is superb! I can guarantee that if you wear this gown to the ceremony, you will be the talk of the party! Hurry, put it on, and show mommy!”
Before Qiao Qing could react, He Wanqing said, “Hmm? What’s with that box?”
She then opened up the box on top.
A uniquely designed, and perfectly tailored silver gown entered her vision.
“Wow! This one’s so pretty too! Did little Xuan prepare two sets? He’s so thoughtful!”
Then, she lifted up the dress.
Qiao Qing seemed to have seen something. It made her gaze freeze up and she quickly shoved the dress back into the box.
“Mom, I like red. Let’s not do this one.”
He Wanqing didn’t get to question her choice and merely nodded, “Then, hurry up and change. Show me what you look like! I’ll go first.”
Then, she left.
After the door closed, Qiao Qing picked up the silver gown.
The entire gown was beyond beautiful and impeccable. However, at the waist, there was a giant hole. It was like someone had cut it with scissors.
Qiao Qing was speechless. She felt a headache as she rubbed her brows. In the end, she changed into the red gown.
Perhaps it was because she’d never worn a dress before. As she zipped up the back, she didn’t do it right and the zipper caught her hair half way through.
She tried many times but failed to zip it up all the way or pull it back down. Instantly, she decided she shouldn’t ever wear dresses.
As she faced this dilemma, the door cracked open.
Qiao Qing thought it was He Wanqing. She didn’t even turn her head, “Mom, help me with my zipper. I can’t get it up.”
The flaming red gown appeared even more alluring and moving when complemented with her black hair…
