The monk had reached the pinnacle of his cultivation according to the system laid down by Hinayana Buddhism, which was Arhat Phala, thus making him comparable to grandmasters of the Hinayana stream of many previous generations.
Further advancement could only be made possible to a certain extent by casting away Hinayana Buddhism and taking up Mahayana Buddhism.
The level above Arhat Phala was Bodhisattva Phala.
The power Lu Xuan demonstrated was that of Bodhisattva Phala.
Even the monk, who had developed a mind of steel due to having been hard at Buddhist cultivation for many years, was almost frightened to death by the terrifying power Lu Xuan demonstrated.
The Bodhisattva Phala!
That was not the most frightening thing about it. Instead, the most frightening thing about it was that the current era had yet to allow fighters of such caliber to emerge. At the very least, the laws of the planet still forbade the emergence of such a being.
“This is his second breakthrough.” The old shaman was flabbergasted. Back when Celestial Realm beings had yet to be allowed to exist over a year ago, Lu Xuan was already at the Celestial Realm.
The world had yet to allow Airborne Realm beings to exist at present, yet Lu Xuan was already at Airborne Realm.
If it had not been for undeniable evidence his status clear, many would have probably thought Lu Xuan to be some ancient monster among the likes of Count Dracula and Lilith, who had been surviving for centuries since the time where spirit qi was abundant, instead of a human born in the modern era.
Such beings could possibly be awakened to higher powers, after all.
That was made possible because they had the history and foundation to back such advancement, thus making it entirely possible to make a breakthrough through sheer brute force.
However, Lu Xuan was a contemporary human being. Worse still, he was in his twenties.
The old shaman recalled some speculations about Lu Xuan. Some thought that it was extremely possible for Lu Xuan to be some reincarnated monster of ancient times.
It was not entirely impossible to imagine such a thing happening among cultivators.
There were methods of enabling one to continue training in their next life, practiced by a line of cultivators from the snowy mountains after all.
It was said that every spiritual prodigy was a reincarnation of a master of the previous generation.
In the eyes of many, that probably was simply a form of reincarnation where one’s memories were preserved in one’s next life.
Nonetheless, it was enough proof to validate such a possibility.
He deemed that it was highly possible for Lu Xuan to be such a being, as there was no way to explain how the young man could make such consecutive breakthroughs, to begin with.
Unfortunately for them, they got on the bad side of someone so terrifying.
They thought of taking on such a monster.
A fighter of Airborne Realm was deemed invincible in the current era.
It was just like how it had been with beings of Celestial Realm a little more than a year ago, where there were hardly any in the world found to be of such level of cultivation.
It was just as terrifying as that huge white snake, which was known to be the king of all monsters at Changbai Mountains, as the snake was the most formidable among all the king of monsters to be found.
It was said that the snake was about to grow horns, which meant that it would soon metamorphose into a Jiaolong—a type of oriental dragon. The snake would have become invincible throughout the world if it were to reach such a stage.
Jiaolongs were known to be extremely formidable even hundreds of years ago, let alone in the modern era. As for true dragons, those beings were long lost even during the age of gods.
The current state of affairs meant that the terrifying white snake was the most probable serpent to become a Jiaolong. Yet, such a being was pressed to the ground without being able to do anything to retaliate.
If it had been the shaman, there would have been no way he could have taken on such a terrifying snake. He would have been able to only flee in one piece at best in such a situation.
He truly came to learn that there was indeed always someone out there greater. That someone—greater than even such a massive, terrifying serpent—was still a human.
The ground was frozen at a frightening rate, yet that huge white snake still had no way of shaking itself free.
The massive hand conjured and manipulated by Lu Xuan then hoisted the snake’s head and pummeled it to the ground again.
Boom!
Boom!
Boom!
Blood splashed all over the place as the snake’s head was repeatedly pummeled to the ground.
Yet another hand was seen materializing, which then pressed down on the flailing tail of that huge white snake.
The snake continued to struggle, but it still utterly had no way of shaking it free.
The old shaman and the middle-aged monk looked like they had just seen a ghost.
Garcia, who was severely injured and was about to pass out, was then so terrified that he trembled all over.
Lu Xuan was a threat even greater than the pope he had to face in the past.
Even the pope, whose attributes were antithetic to his powers, was nowhere near that terrifying.
They all realized that Lu Xuan never bothered about them emptying his fort and had all his people sent elsewhere.
They thought that they had lured the tigers out of the mountain, yet in truth, the true tiger never left the mountain, to begin with.
The ones that they managed to lure away were but monkeys.
“Mr. Lu, we sincerely apologize for what has happened. We will gladly pay whatever price you want!” the old shaman said.
The middle-aged monk by his side nodded feverishly. He was thoroughly shaken by what Lu Xuan just pulled. Even Garcia nodded without paying any heed to the injuries he suffered.
“Any price? You mean that?” Lu Xuan smirked as he asked.
“Indeed. Any price. We shamans have been around for over a thousand years, and we have all manner of treasures in our coffers. We would gladly hand them over, so long as you have need of them, Mr. Lu,” the old shaman added right away.
“You shall pay with your life.”
The old shaman saw a flicker as soon as Lu Xuan said that. Lu Xuan then appeared right before him as if he had just teleported.
Pffttt!
The Dragonslayer was brandished, bringing about a massive flash that cut open the old shaman’s Shield of Vigor with sheer brute force, which then sent his head flying.
As far as powers went, that old shaman was mostly comparable to that of Count Dracula a little more than a year ago. Count Dracula was never Lu Xuan’s match, even back then. That fact was made even more pronounced with the old shaman at the moment.
The middle-aged monk finally realized that and bolted right away. Spiritual Qi burst in a frenzy from his feet, sending him flying like an arrow unleashed at frightening speeds, outside the battlefield.
He never thought Lu Xuan’s power would have been so terrifying.
He then simply resented his parents for not giving him two more legs at birth.
It was quickly made clear that he was no match for Lu Xuan in terms of speed. Lu Xuan caught up to the monk almost instantaneously.
Pfftt!
The middle-aged monk of Arhat Phala level was unable to react in time, resulting in him being killed with a swing of the blade.
The only human who remained alive was, ironically, Garcia, who struggled to get to his feet. His attempts were futile as his injuries were simply too severe. His head was then sent flying with yet another swing of the blade. He died right on the spot.
The only one left by then among the four who came was the huge white snake that hailed from the Changbai Mountains.
However, Lu Xuan chose to spare the snake instead, as the Academy of Sciences wanted a living monster at the Celestial Realm Level for research purposes.
The soldiers and fighters of the Heavenly Palace, whom all had been sent elsewhere by Lu Xuan, saw the place littered with bodies and a huge white snake that was struggling.
All of them were shocked to the core.
“Gosh, this is just too scary!”
“The Palace Lord did all this on his own!?”
“Man, the Palace Lord is indeed invincible!”
However, the case for the night was far from over.
