Shi Beiyu muttered, “I’m repeating Huo Sikai’s exact words. Leng Jiao is sick.”
Mu Siyin was speechless.
“Does the Lu family… treat you well?” Shi Beiyu asked.
Mu Siyin regained her senses and nodded. “Yes, they are very nice to me.”
“Then, have you mentioned our relationship to your grandpa?”
Mu Siyin was stunned by Shi Beiyu’s question and let out a dry laugh. “I haven’t found the chance to tell him today… I’ll tell him next time.”
Shi Beiyu felt a little disappointed.
He nodded slightly. “Well, it’s getting late. You should rest early. I’ll send someone to pick you up for work tomorrow.”
Upon hearing that, Mu Siyin hurriedly replied, “No, that’s not necessary. You don’t have to ask someone to pick me up tomorrow. I’ll take my uncle and auntie’s car tomorrow.”
Shi Beiyu became annoyed. “You don’t intend to let them know about our relationship?”
Now that Shi Beiyu had asked her directly, Mu Siyin had to reply.
She paused for a moment before she reluctantly said, “That’s not it. I was talking about it to Grandpa today, but halfway through, he suddenly started coughing. He was coughing quite terribly, so I didn’t tell him.
“Just wait a little while longer, okay? When he gets better, I’ll take you to meet him. Is that alright? ”
If a couple had to meet each other’s parents, Mu Siyin would consider bringing Shi Beiyu to meet Old Master Lu, her biological grandfather.
Shi Beiyu finally dropped the topic after hearing that. “Fine.”
Mu Siyin smirked. “Why are you behaving just like a child?”
Shi Beiyu chuckled. “You wouldn’t understand.”
“Why wouldn’t I understand?”
“That’s because, in my eyes, you are still a child.”
Mu Siyin was speechless.
The two chatted for a while more before they hung up.
This time, Mu Siyin laid down on the bed again and felt a lot more relaxed. She fell asleep not long after closing her eyes.
It turned out that she could not sleep because she was waiting for a call from Shi Beiyu.
Mu Siyin got up early the next morning.
She drew the curtains, and right outside the window, there was a large tree full of blooming magnolias in the courtyard.
The bunch of pure and flawless white magnolia instantly made her feel refreshed and happy.
It was the season for the magnolia trees’ second blooming of the year. Looking at the blossoming tree and smelling the elegant fragrance at the tip of her nose, Mu Siyin could not help but get inspiration.
She had finally thought of a name for her design!
When Mu Siyin excitedly got to the dining room, Old Master Lu was already there.
Fang Shiqing smiled when she saw Mu Siyin come in. “Your grandfather thought you had overslept and was about to ask someone to wake you up.”
Mu Siyin laughed as she walked up. “I’m sorry, Auntie. I’ve kept you waiting for so long. I saw the beautifully blooming magnolia tree in the courtyard and took a few more glances at them.”
Listening to Mu Siyin talking about that magnolia tree, Old Master Lu could not help but sigh. “Your mother also liked that magnolia tree very much. You certainly are her daughter. The both of you have the same preferences.”
Fang Shiqing laughed. “Like mother, like daughter.”
Old Master Lu looked at Mu Siyin and said, “But there’s one thing you must never learn from your mother no matter what, which is marrying a man who is greedy for money and lusts for sex. That heartless and ungrateful man!”
Every time someone mentioned the Mu family, the Lu family would become agitated. That was why they had avoided mentioning anything related to them all these years, to prevent them from needlessly getting angry.
Old Master Lu was reminded of the past because of Mu Siyin’s presence today.
The atmosphere suddenly became a little heavy.
Lu Yibin said helplessly, “Dad, we have already seen through the Mu family’s façade. It’s pointless for us to get angry at them. You are unwell and shouldn’t get angry. As for Yinyin, our Lu family will take care of her from now on.”
