Yan Su bent down and said to Granny Yan, “This is Mo Liuxi.”
“Oh,” Granny Yan grabbed Yan Su’s hand, “you’ve changed your boyfriend. Good! Your father said that Shi Xiang wasn’t a reliable guy. It’s good that you’ve come to your senses.”
Yan Su grimaced.
Mo Liuxi had no intention of chatting with Granny Yan as he was eagerly looking at the baby crib in the corner of the room.
His darling baby girl was in that crib.
He took long strides towards it, but Yan Jin stopped him in his tracks. Although the little guy was short and small, his back was straight and his chest was puffed out. “You can see Yan Yan, but let’s be clear on one thing—you can’t steal our little princess away!”
Yan Su and Jiang Peiying got nervous upon hearing that—they did raise Yan Yan after all. They would be devastated if the child’s father wanted to take her away. They wouldn’t know if he would take good care of her either, as the child had grown attached to them.
“Uncle, Aunty, please don’t misunderstand. I just want to take a look at her,” Mo Liuxi explained. “I know that you both have put a lot of love and care into raising her. I don’t have the right to take her away just because I am her father. Although she’s young, she must have her own thoughts as well. I’ll try to get close to her and win your approval. I know I’ve done too little. I’ve talked it over with Yan Su, and I think it’s fine for the child to keep her surname now. Yan Yan is a good name—very sophisticated.”
He even complimented Jiang Peiying who named the child, and she was relieved. Yan Lv had a pleasant impression of the man too. Although Mo Liuxi was young, he had good sense, and the fact that he was willing to keep Yan Yan’s surname spoke volumes of him. Many men were unreasonable about things like that, and Mo Liuxi seemed a lot more open-minded and generous.
“We’re just worried about the child,” Jiang Peiying said. “Although Yan Yan is small, she’s really clingy, especially when she wakes up. She will wail and cry if she’s around unfamiliar faces and can’t find the people she knows. I can’t take it when children cry.”
Yan Jin pouted, “Ma, how come you’re ok with me crying?”
“Because you’re a boy,” Jiang Peiying shot back at him.
Yan Jin sulked.
Were boys not children too?
Mo Liuxi laughed as he cautiously approached the crib. Little Yan Yan was fast asleep, and her chubby face was pink and rosy. She looked like a baby doll with a serene smile on her face—she must have been dreaming of something good.
His heart melted as his hands trembled.
That was his daughter…
He finally understood Nian Junting’s obsession with having a baby girl.
Yan Yan suddenly opened her eyes and stared at him. Mo Liuxi was a little taken aback before he said softly, “Hi, Yan Yan, I am your Papa.”
Yan Yan blinked her big round eyes and started wailing.
Yan Su quickly lifted Yan Yan into her arms. Although it had been a while since she last saw her, they video-called often and they were familiar with each other. Connected by a natural bond, Yan Yan stopped crying instantly in her mother’s arms as she sprawled on Yan Su’s chest.
Mo Liuxi was envious. “Susu, can I carry her?”
Although Yan Su couldn’t bear to watch her daughter cry, she still handed her over when Mo Liuxi looked over at her woefully. Before Mo Liuxi could even hold her, Yan Yan burst into tears again.
Mo Liuxi was dejected.
“She’s scared of strangers. Take it slow,” Yan Su consoled him.
