“Hello.” One of the more poised gentlemen stepped forward with a smile. “I am here to pick up our young master. Thank you all for taking care of him.”
“Are you his family?” Nian Xi stood up quickly. “What were you guys doing? It took you so long to come after he was missing for an entire night. He has such a poor sense of direction, and he gets lost so easily, you should get him a phone. He’s a grown up, after all.”
“I’m sorry. Our young master never uses a phone,” the middle-aged man said apologetically.
“Can’t you change that?” Nian Xi frowned. “Lucky for him, he bumped into me last night. If he had bumped into a bunch of blood-thirsty female lechers instead, he would have been locked up in someone’s basement by now. You wouldn’t be able to find him then.”
“We would be able to find him.” The man smiled. “Our young master has a tracking device in his watch. We would be able to find him no matter where he was. We didn’t know that he had left the house last night. We only realized that he was gone in the morning.”
Nian Xi was speechless. Were they filming their own 007 Bond movie? Sang was right. That was no ordinary watch.
“Sorry to bother you all, anyway.” The man stepped forward and patted Jiang Yuning’s back. He turned and nodded at the middle-aged man.
“We should return, young master,” the middle-aged man said softly.
Jiang Yuning’s delicate brows furrowed into a frown. He stood up and walked towards Nian Xi. When he walked past her, he gave her a note that read, “Goodbye. I will miss you.”
Nian Xi blushed. They had only just met, but he made their relationship sound so flirtatious. There sure are many crazy people out there, Nian Xi thought.
“Alright, I know, hurry along. Don’t wander around by yourself again,” Nian Xi said helplessly.
Jiang Yuning nodded as he followed the men out the door. After taking a few steps, he turned to glance at Nian Xi again before walking on.
Luosang giggled. “Why do I get the feeling that he is in love with you? I guess it’s love at first sight. He’s going to miss you so much. What an innocent boy.”
Nian Junting frowned and said grumpily, “He has to use notepads to express himself. You’re going to be so exhausted if you date him, you might become a mute yourself.”
“He’s not actually mute,” Luosang replied. “Perhaps if you spend more time with him or if he meets a girl whom he is willing to change for, he might actually speak.”
“Just stay away from him,” Nian Junting said casually. “I noticed a bulge in the pocket of the big burly man that came to get him. It was shaped like a gun. He must either be an agent or a cop.”
“Come on, you are reading too much into this,” Nian Xi said incredulously. She was a cop herself. She knew what kind of people were equipped with guns in China.
“I do hope that I read too much into it, but I noticed calluses on his index, middle, and ring fingers, too. Those are formed when you use a gun often. I used to have them, too, when I was in the special forces.” Nian Junting paused and added, “That young guy has a smell on him, too, if you noticed.”
“He smells like disinfectant solution.” Nian Xi suddenly remembered.
“Yeah, what does he do that requires frequent contact with disinfectant solutions? He either works in a hospital or works in a lab. I dare say he works for the country since he is protected by agents carrying guns,” Nian Junting concluded.
