She took a slow shower before walking out, only to notice that man had already fallen asleep. The asleep man no longer gave off the icy feeling he gave off in the daytime. He was no longer hostile to other guys around her, too.
Such a quiet Ji Ziming was still very handsome, especially since she could not get enough of his beautiful features.
She switched off the lights before climbing under the blankets. The man beside her flipped and rested his arm above her stomach. The way he snored softly and deeply made her feel pity for him.
Even all suspicions and doubts regarding his sexual orientation flew out the window. It was standing tall, so how could he not feel anything for her? He was merely letting her off easy on such a rare occasion.
The night was silent and the people in the room were soundly asleep. In their dream, both entered a church dressed in their wedding attires, and the three children helped lift her gown from behind.
If there was a best dream, then this would be it.
The morning sun soon streamed into the room. The couple in bed lay on each other. Sitting beside them on the bed, Ran Ran was using a camera to capture this beautiful scene.
Without learning any techniques or using any filters, just the sight of a handsome man and a beautiful woman lying side-by-side in bed while wearing silk pajamas was deeply etched in the girl’s mind.
If she could not find a man that treated her like her daddy, then she would just look for one who would be willing to use his arm as a pillow for her.
Pei Ge turned around, and when she spotted her daughter, she quickly jumped up. “Why are you here?”
Surprised by her mother’s sudden movement, the girl blinked her large eyes, which shone with a wronged look. “Mommy, grandma asked me to check if you and daddy are awake. I just came in. It’s true! You can ask grandma if you don’t believe me.”
She smoothed her hair. This little lass could always bring her unexpected surprises.
“Then, we will come down later, okay? Go out and wait for us downstairs. I will come after changing.”
She nudged Ji Ziming, yet the latter did not show signs of waking up from their conversation. On the third time he was nudged, the man rubbed his eyes as he was slowly roused from his slumber. He looked at Ran Ran, who was sitting on their bed.
“Why are you here to look for us this early in the morning?” he asked softly.
“I came to wake you two up. Aren’t we going to the place yesterday to play again today?”
His daughter blinked her eyes and pressed her lips together obediently, but the cheekiness in her eyes did not escape his eyes.
“Tell daddy: Do you want to go play?”
He rubbed the arm that Pei Ge slept on for the whole night. It was totally numb.
“Mhm. I guess so.”
Seeing that his guess was spot on, Ran Ran waved the camera in her hands and dashed out. She even did not forget to close the door behind her.
Ji Ziming suddenly frowned. “Ran Ran must have taken photos.”
Pei Ge, who had already climbed off the bed, walked over to the wardrobe to pick out suitable clothes—a black and white stripes top and a khaki short skirt, both looking neat and sophisticated. She then replied in a sweet voice, “Yes, she definitely did. Let’s go see if she took it well later.”
“Mhm.”
He sat on the bed and massaged his arm. There were still strands of the woman’s hair on it.
“What’s wrong?”
The woman turned around and spotted his action, then recalled that he had hugged her like this for the whole night. Her head was originally lying on the pillow, but she was hugged by him and ended up sleeping in his arms for the whole night.
“Does your arm still ache? Let me massage it for you.”
She walked to him with a guilty heart. Just as she touched his arm to massage it, she was pulled by him into his embrace. The two fell backward because of this; hence, she ended up lying in his arms again.
“What are you doing? Quickly get up.”
She was thinking about his arm, while he was thinking about the feeling of hugging his one, true love in this lazy and beautiful morning.
“Don’t move. I just want to stay like this for a few minutes.”
Although his arm was already numb from being her pillow the whole night, he was still secretly happy that he had a woman like her and that the troubles which had been frustrating him these past few days had been settled.
“Okay, then. You only have a few minutes.”
She was afraid that if she continued lying in this position, his arm or legs would become too numb. The guilt in her heart deepened again. Even if she knew that the ache and numbness would subside eventually, she still wanted him to be unhurt, even if it was these normal aching and numbness.
After a short while, Ji Ziming sat up. His voice was groggy and magnetizing. “What should I do? My arm hurts.”
“I’ll massage it for you. Don’t move.”
She knelt before him on the white blanket. This and her pink pajamas, as well as the scenery that could be seen from her collar when she bent down, made his bottom half turn rigid. He said in an enticing voice, “Stay far from me; I can’t take it.”
“Ah… What?”
She thought that it was because she had used too much strength, causing the man to feel pain. Just as she prepared to move closer, the man quickly got off the bed and ran into the bathroom to wash up.
“What’s the situation here?”
She sat on the bed while watching his abnormal behavior. She could not help but recall how he had let her off last night and allowed her to get a peaceful sleep.
When the couple was done cleaning themselves, they opened the door and found their children all sitting on the sofa while listening to Zhang Manhua’s storytelling. The story was what remained of last night, and the kids had all their attention to it.
Pei Ge smiled at the sight of them seated around her mother, looking like eager students. Ran Ran, especially, had so many questions to ask that Zhang Manhua was unable to hold her own.
The older woman quickly got up when she noticed the couple standing diagonally across them.
“You two are up. I’ll bring your breakfast out.”
She walked into the kitchen after saying this, leaving the three children on the sofa to gawk at them.
“Mommy, grandma said that the dinosaurs all died when Earth and another planet collided with each other; is that right?”
An An loved learning things outside of books. He always knew more things than the average children his age. As for the reason behind the dinosaurs’ extinction, even if he refused to believe it, a seed was still planted in his heart.
